Art Series - The Blackman Hotel

I found the concept of a vibrant and new hotel filled with images of John Blackman's work delightful and welcoming. The layout of the deluxe suite was effective and extremely adequate with a wall full of windows leading onto a balcony; a fantastic bed, large screen tv and a restful colour scheme. You will find all areas of the hotel are well thought out and designed to stimulate the senses. The staff were well versed in courteous service and they were all highly professional and friendly. I will not hesitate to book in and stay there again...:0)

The room on their website is described to have city views this was not the case with our room on level 4 the only view we had was of a building and people that could look directly into our room. We had to leave the blinds closed the entire time so there was no light either. Unfortunately the hotel was booked out we were told when we asked to be moved. We were also advised that this room was the same price as the higher floor that has no privacy issues and a better outlook. They did leave us a bottle of wine although for next time I prefer to get the room that I’ve booked as advertised I felt this was misleading on their part.

The hotel was really lovely, and well located for ventures into the CBD by tram. It may have been the type of room we had, but while the bedroom/living area was spacious and well appointed, the bathroom was awkwardly small with a lack of hanging or bench space. The bathroom lighting could also be improved. As a general comment, the hotel staff and facilities were very good indeed but being very new there were a few areas for improvement. For example, signage in the carpark below to indicate where the lifts were located as it is very steep and it wasn't clear when entering how many levels there were. Information included in the hotel profile or booking inclusions would have been helpful - just little things - for example, that there is a newspaper in the morning, robes and (possibly?) complimentary slippers.

The rooms were quiet, very well appointed and spotlessly clean, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. It's situation is very convenient to all Melbourns attractions. My only complaint was the bathrooms were a little on the small side.

Great location , option of about 6 different trams to the city and back and not too far from other suburbs in case you take a taxi. Rooms were super clean and tastefully decorated. My only concern was that the shower area was poorly designed thus everytime you took a shower the whole bathroom would get wet. Oher than that no complains. Highly recommended

The hotel was located perfectly for our needs & was of immaculate style & condition. Service is the only thing that needs a big improvement...from checking in and being charged a hold fee of $300 on your credit card for any charges that may be incurred during your stay was an interesting way to start our experience. Irregular Minibar charges that appeared on bill also were strange as were some of the interactions with service staff with having to ask for sugar & milk surely a housekeeping issue. Air conditioning and speed of lift were also a bit on the average side. The Classico bar experience was great ...bravo to young bartender Evan...star of the show no question... the French cafe was very poor service/ wait staff with no interest.....Will definately be returning for future stays at the Blackman Hotel
