Neighborhood
Located next to the Albert Park Lake and Golf Course, the Bayview Eden Hotel is set in a markedly peaceful area. Many interesting species of birds - including black swans - visit the lake, but if your preference is sports over nature, the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Center and the Lakeside Stadium are nearby. The Melbourne hotel is a quick tram ride from the Central Business District, City Center laneways and Federation Square.
Hints and tips
For the best views of Albert Park Reserve and the Victoria coastline, ask for a room on the 6th or 7th floor on the west side of the hotel.

A couple of rooms on the 7th floor are directly beneath the gym and spa, which can be a little noisy during the day.

Bayview Eden Review

The staff at the hotel were nice and pleasant when checking in and out, and explained to me all the amenities and where they were. It is an older building but still very clean and accommodating. I was there for only one night on a business trip and its about 10-12 mins tram ride from the CBD and a 5 minute walk to nearest Tram stop, opposite the Albert Park Gold Course and precinct. The room was quite big and had the basics you get in most hotel rooms, small LCD tv, iron, desk, toiletries, bar fridge and mini bar. Bed was a little hard but but did what it needed to do for the 1 night i stayed. The remote for the tv had flat batteries and took a bit to get on and off. There was an issue where the main lights in the room that did not work, but the bed lamps, bathroom and 1 lamp above mirror did so it was just enough light to get around but not sufficient for a hotel of this class but not what i would think its acceptable especially when i planned to do some preparation work for the following day which i decided not to. The on duty manager did offer to change rooms for me but its was 10pm when i got there and was too tired to pack my things up and change rooms. Maybe they can go through and just do a checklist of what works and what doesn't so it does not inconvenience other patrons. They were kind enough to waive my carparking costs for the inconvenience which was very much appreciated. Pleasant and accomodating staff, had all the basics i required but needs to be a little more on top of the workings of their rooms is what i can offer. Thank you.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

For under $100 a room cost which was still close to the city, it is worth staying there to keep your costs down for short stays. If you like Golf then you have the Golf Course right opposite the Hotel. And would be very convenient if you are down for the Melbourne Grand Prix as the course is also opposite the Hotel.

Concert/Opera best location

Perfect location if attending a function or concert around The Art Centre/Melboune Recital Centre, only a 10 minute drive and not being held up with CBD traffic or pedestrians. Rooms were very comfortable and reasonably spacious, clean and fresh. Breakfast was wonderful, abundant, the variety was terrific and the Danish to savour with a bottomless coffee. Staff were lovely. We will be back for sure with our children next time.

over night stay

An older style, that needs updating, the suite served its purpose but nothing special, over priced for the level of fit out. Friendly staff thx J

OK - only just

It took about 20 minutes to get from the reception to the underground car park due to traffic in the rear laneway on a Friday night. The room was clean and spacious with a great view. The bed was a real distaster as it had worn to the point where it was like a halfpipe, no matter how hard we tried to stay on one side, we both ended up in the middle. Great for those that can sleep on top of each other (literally). Staff were always polite. The breakfast is what you would expect for a full buffet, bacon was overdone one morning but fine the next. Excellent selection of pastries and eggs to order if you wanted. The only other downside is that its a bit of a distance in a taxi to the city, in that on Friday night the traffic was that jammed up that it took us 20 minutes and a $20 taxi ride to go about 3km. Not walking distance to the city really, not in winter anyway.

Great value in a convenient lication

We stayed for 3 nights in a premium king room with views over Albert Park Lake and the ocean beyond, just beautiful. Our package included breakfast for 2 each morning as well. We ate in the restaurant one night before going to the theatre, the pasta was delicious. The staff were pleasant and helpful both at reception and the Niche Restaurant. Parking is secure, convenient and reasonable at $12 per night. Free wifi in the lobby. The bed was very comfortable plus the pillows were good, a small miracle. The room was quiet with good block out drapes. Trams just around the corner take you into CBD, to the theatre or to St Kilda, 7eleven, take aways plus coffee shops within minutes. The package was so cheap we weren't expecting much but our stay was very enjoyable, we will be back.

Ideal overnight getaway for a couple.

My husband and I have stayed here on several occasions and have always been very happy. We were staying in town as we went to see a live theatre show. We have always enjoyed the buffet breakfasts here but this time it was outstandingly good! There was so much variety on offer! As an added bonus it was included free in our stay. This hotel offers great value for money.
