Claremont Guesthouse Melbourne

The location was perfectly situated next to the South Yarra train station and a block away from Chapel Street which is loaded with shops, restaurants and bars. It's a decent price for someone on a budget. I booked a single room with bunk beds for myself and my mom and to call it a room is a stretch. It's more like a cell, or a closet. Just enough room to walk around the bunk beds and that's about it. But if all you need is a bed and a roof, it's good. The breakfast options were cereal, toast, and some canned fruit. Again, if you just need a place to stay and won't actually be there other than to sleep, it works. Bring earplugs in case you get noisy neighbors - there was a whole load of primary school kids staying there at the same time as us.

The rooms are painfully small but you get a tv unlike many other hostels and a room to yourself. You get free breakfast and coffee, tea and water at all times which is great, saved us a small fortune. We stayed for 7 nights which is a long time to stay in a small room but still better than staying at the other hostels! The staff are very nice and friendly too. It needs some updating and unfortunately our hallway smelled a bit. I would stay here again.

Free breakfast isnt much but it gets the job done. Australia is expensive so a free breakfast comes in handy. The wifi is free but you are limited to 100mbs a day. Good to write emails and surf. Bathrooms were clean. Very close to train station into town. Trains run very frequently. Room was small but good. Only problem was there were some loud girls next door. They sounded like they were in my room.

What I really like about this guest house is it offers great value in an expensive city like Melbourne and meets all my basic travel needs such as decent breakfast, tea/coffee 24x7, free wi-fi, fridge/microwave/iron in public area. Both rooms and shared bathrooms are very clean. The guest house is only about 100m away from a train station and it is a short 10min trip to the city center. The only minor problem is in order to get free wi-fi, you need to go through a login process every time in which the password changes every 24h. Really minor given it is free wi-fi.

The hotel was close to a train station, fine shops and dining. It is located about a 40 min walk to the CBD. Breakfast is simple, cereal, toast, instant coffee, fruit, and juice. Staff was friendly. The hotel itself is old, but the rooms and bathrooms were clean and modern.

we stayed in Claremont Guest House for five days. The best things were the location and the free wifi. The Guest House is really close to the south yarra train station and tram stations. It is very convenient to go to most of the places. The staffs are nice and friendly. Everyday we received 100MB data and this is very good. Just the room was too small. Since the price is acceptable with good location, free breakfast and free wifi, I might consider stay here again when next time come to Melbourne

Could not fault the staff attitudes and their successful efforts to keep up with necessary cleaning, and the fact that the hotel is only metres from the tube - just fantastic

Service was very friendly; noise levels too high. Dust on all services. Floor was particularly bad.
