Historic building, modern vibe at downtown hotel across Southern Cross

The Vibe Savoy Hotel Melbourne blends together a historic building with a hip and modern feel. The property is located right in the heart of downtown across the street from the Southern Cross Railroad Station. Rooms are sleek and bright; the on-site gymnasium and fitness center comprises a variety of state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment. The on-site restaurant, Curve Restaurant & Bar, serves three meals a day, specializing in fresh and locally grown products.

Accommodations -- 163 rooms, including 6 suites -- vary in size and configuration. Each room comes standard with a flat-screen television, hair dryer, ironing board and in-room safe. High-speed Internet access is available (fees apply); guests also have access to music channels available only within the hotel.

The Vibe Savoy has won numerous awards over the years, and was a finalist for the 2009 Hotel and Motel Accommodation Association awards for "Best Deluxe Accommodation." All guests enjoy free access to an on-site gymnasium and fitness center, which features state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment and a host of free weights.  The hotel also offers 24-hour laundry service (fees apply), and WiFi Internet access in the lobby (fees apply). Dine at Curve Restaurant & Bar, an eatery that serves three meals a day and sources most of its food from local growers. My early arrival was not a problem,

My early arrival was not a problem, nor was the storage of my bags until later in the day. Very convenient to public transport (trains and skybus to airport), and DFO complex.

Magnificent hotel in the best

Magnificent hotel in the best possible location for all activities at the bottom of the city. The staff are friendly and helpful. the room designs could do with a little modification that would give better access to the television. Based on this our second visit it is wise to ask for a corner suite or atleast book one with a double bed rather than two singles. Dining room is beautiful.

Very good location and excellent

Very convenient to the Train station

Very convenient to the Train station and Sky bus. The building has the old facade, but has been tastefully renovated inside, in keeping with the building, such as black and white floor tiles in the bathroom. It is one of our favourite hotels in Melbourne.
