Superbly positioned overlooking Copacabana Beach, this is the best place to stay in Rio. Soak up the sun in the magnificent pool or join Brazil's style setters at the adjacent Bar do Copa. The Copacabana Palace has 245 rooms and suites in total, 147 are found in the Main Building. Each of its rooms and suites is unique, featuring fine period furniture and original works of art. All conjure up the elegance and sophistication of a glamorous era when Marlene Dietrich and Orson Welles were guests at the hotel. Yet each room is also thoroughly modern, including Wi-Fi and iPod docks, and graced with such thoughtful touches as extra long pillows and complimentary traditional Brazilian slippers.

These suites were designed by the Orient-Express French designer, Michel Jouannet. Located in the Tower Wing Building, these spacious suites measure around 70m2 (753 ft2) and make ideal accommodation for longer stays. Each suite comprises of a comfortable sitting room, with an adjoining private balcony overlooking the pool and the Copacabana beach beyond. The beds in the bedroom have especially comfortable Sealy orthopaedic pillow top mattresses and are made up with the exceptionally fine Troussardi bed linen.
- Superior Room - City View
- Superior Room - City View offers a king size bed and includes Air conditioning, Alarm clock, Bathrobe, Hair dryer, Internet access, Mini bar, Non-smoking rooms, Room service, Safe in room, Tea and coffee making facilities, Telephone and Valet service. Located in the Main Building from 1st to 5th floors and in the Tower Wing Building, City View Rooms face towards the city and measure on average 30m (323ft). All City View Rooms offer King or Twin beds and feature the trademark high ceilings of the Main Building at the Copacabana Palace. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms which vary in size depending on the location of the room. The majority have a bath with shower above.
- Deluxe Room Ocean View
- Deluxe Room - Ocean View offers one king size bed and includes Air conditioning, Alarm clock, Bathrobe, Hair dryer, Internet access, Mini bar, Non-smoking rooms, Room service, Safe in room, Tea and coffee making facilities, Telephone and Valet service. Ocean View Rooms are located in the Main Building of the Copacabana Palace. These spacious rooms have stunning views of the world-famous Copacabana Beach and some feature Juliet-style balconies. The average size of a Beach View Room is 38m (410ft) and all have King or Twin beds. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms which feature a bath with shower above.

We stayed at the Copacabana Palace for three nights. The air conditioner did not work -- you could not adjust the temperature and it was freezing. They also spray the bed linens and pillows each night with a disgusting industrial cleaner that smells like bathroom air freshener. We complained about it several times and were assured that it would not happen again, but each night when we got back to the room after the room had been turned down the bed linens were saturated with the same nasty chemical odor. Whatever they use caused us to break out. I have never heard of a hotel dousing pillows and sheets with chemicals as part of a turn down and we were really upset that despite repeated complaints and requests that they stop spraying our sheets, it kept happening.

excellent hotel!
We stayed at the Copacabana Palace for 6 days during Carnival. It was a fantastic hotel. First the staff is patient, always smiling and helpful. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was amazing. It was the perfect place to stay during carnival because it was a little outside of the crazy street parties. We were in room 525 which was amazing. I would go back, and stay there. IF you are there during Carnival, consider the ball at the hotel..it is pretty amazing.

great senior getaway
Loved the hotel, the staff (with the exception of the conceirge staff who was very slow to respond to request-even after a nice reals tip) and the pool. great location on Copa beach. But we felt the Cipriani restaurant was overpriced. Be sure to book a package with free breakfast or you will pay 165 br for two. Suggest hiring a car and driver for the day to see Sugar Loaf, Corcavado et al since the crowds were huge and our dirver knew the locals working the sites and got us threw the crowds fast.

Morning Star
Unbelieveable getaway
We could not have asked for or found a better staff and hotel. We have been to 5 star hotels before and there have been some that should have had a 4 star rating. The Copacabana Palace Hotel should have a 6 star rating. Every possible need was met and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay (as brief as it was) as fun and comfortable as possible. Even if you never leave the hotel you will feel as if you have had the vacation of a lifetime. We felt safe and secure as well. We hope to return soon and are able to stay longer.

THE place in Rio!
The Copacabana is an unbeatable hotel and location in Rio - the presence of tiny paparazzi helicopter cameras alone should let you know that you have "arrived".
