Mayfield Inn and Suites West Edmonton

This phrase now haunts me as I've experienced it at the Mayfield Inn. It was supposed to be a memorable weekend as we are celebrating our anniversary. We went to the Mayfield Dinner Theatre and decided to spend the weekend there. We are currently residing in Edmonton and thought it would be a nice idea to stay at the Mayfield Inn. We stayed at Suite Six and it was a lovely suite. Everything went well except the following day (Monday afternoon) when I noticed raised red spots around my leg. I thought it was an allergic reaction to something but it seemed to get worse as the days progressed. I was freaking out and I couldn't sleep because I was totally convinced that they are bed bug bites and I was terrified that I brought them home with me. I researched relentlessly online and talked to a couple of pharmacists whom I work with and they were convinced as well that they are definitely bed bug bites. Out of concern we went to Mayfield Inn and asked if we could talk to the general manager. The manager that was there asked us how long has it’s been since we've stayed there and why didn't we tell them any sooner. Then she asked me for a doctor’s note confirming that they are bed bug bites. I even had photos of my legs showing the bed bug bites. They checked out our room and said they didn't find anything. They said they will have the pest control check it the next day. They said they did and they will send us the report via email. It’s been almost a week and we have no email yet from them. I'm really concerned that they have a bed bug problem and they’re just covering it up. It’s so disappointing that they just dismissed our concern and it seemed like it wasn't a big issue at all. I'm really tired and emotionally drained with this horrific ordeal. Now that they didn't acknowledge our concerns we are contemplating on consulting our lawyer and take proper actions. This is the most disturbing experience I've ever had with a hotel and I would never stay there again.

There is no control, concerning the room entrance.

While the hotel seems a bit understaffed (long waits if you call the front desk or are waiting for something at the front desk) but the staff was very helpful and a pleasure to work with. Our room was in an extension in the back of the hotel It was a very long walk and the room itself was very dark even with all the lights turned on and the curtains opened- not intolerable but a pain if you are in the middle of a book. They have really good food, great shows, and solid trade center & and gym. The bad side being when the shows are running there is really limited guess parking - If I was to do another expo I would look for a different hotel

location was perfect if you want to do stuff at the West Edmonton Mall - only minutes away and several restaurants in the area, plus a grocery store very close by -- However, the hotel needs updating --Although it is a non-smoking hotel, it still has the remnants of a smoking hotel. Carpets and curtains in rooms definitely need updating to rid the scent -- Also the housekeeping was poor -- a half-eaten chocolate bar and a car toy was barely under my bed (near the night table) for the entire 4 nights we stayed there. I did not report it because I wanted to see if the housekeeping staff would pick it up. They did not, so I mentioned it when I was checking out. I would recommend this hotel only if they got rid of the smoke scent.

Don't ever try to book a room in this hotel, when we first got there the recipient made a mistake and accommodated us in a wrong room, we booked the deluxe suite, but the recipients accommodated us in deluxe king, we had to come all the way down to lobby and mentioned to them and then after she took about half an hour she give us the new room key... Don't recommend this hotel to anyone.....

we went to go shopping, and would of like to enjoy a hot shower after shoppping all day long. there was no hot water in the shower. we phoned to get it fixed. they thought they had fixed it so the next day we went to use it and it was ice cold again. thank goodness the jacussi tub had hot water. other then that the hotel was good.

Service was excellent, IE Sign in and Out. Room was not updated. Food was good.

The rooms were tidy, and generous in size. However, it is miles away from anything. It is not far from West Edmonton Mall, though the easiest way to get there is via taxi which costs about $10. Buses only go at certain times and aren't very reliable. So unless happy to take several buses to get anywhere its kinda a pain. Staff were always very nice and welcoming and were happy to answer all the questions I had. There is guest laundry on every second floor and only one washing machine / dryer at each of those floors and sometimes you were running up and down elevators to find a free one. Air-conditioning was a little cold on the lowest setting. Didn't use the athletics area or go to the Dinner theatre but did see the current star of the show at the time wandering around the lobby which was a fun experience to see someone famous! Would stay again if it was in another location.

When I booked with [...] I selected 4 star and above. When we arrived they had us in the "Inn" which I would consider a -2. My family and I refused to stay in that room and were upgraded to one of the "Suites" which was OK I'd give it a 3-star. However, we had to pay and additional $30/night; which I disagree with because we paid for a 4-star room at a rate of $76/night and now had to pay more to get it.The hot buffet breakfast was included with the upgraded suite was good with lots of options. Also, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

We stayed in the old tower and the rooms really needed some upgrades, we had no hot water in the sink shower O.K had hot water would not class this as a4 star hotel no pool has a good theatre in hotel ( dinner theatre) staff were friendly
