Oh how wonderful it was

The hotel is absolutely beautiful.. The views are spectacular and the staff is friendly and professional. The rooms are big, clean and have great views. It seems every room has a great view. The pool is outdoor so if it is raining or snowing you need to decide to go or not. In my case I had a 6 months old baby so we could not use the pool since it was raining. The overall experience was great though. The parking is way too expensive and the restaurant is costly.

If you drink make sure you take a bottle of your favorite drink. Alcoholic drinks are very expensive in Canada and specially in the downtown area.

contemporary decor with an old mattress

This was a great location for the waterfront. Seemed very safe and was clean. The staff was very pleasant. The business center was available 24 hours but the cost to use it was outrageous. Internet should be free when you pay so much for a room. The spa and treatment was amazing! The room was very clean and fresh. The view of the harbor and mountains was just beautiful in the morning; however the bed was pretty uncomfortable. I needed all of the extra pillows to avoid rolling into deep gullies in the mattress. I would stay again but would definitely make an informed decision on the bed. The bar in the hotel was hip and expensive. The setting was great! The pan asian cuisine nice but way over priced. You would do so much better by venturing out. There are a lot of great places to eat in Vancouver.

A great place to eat and drink with a contemporary feel would be the Cactus Club Cafe on Burrard. Its walking distance from the hotel 2-3 blocks.

Vancouver Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel

The Fairmont Pacific Rim was the last stop on our Alaska land - cruise vacation. This is a very impressive hotel. Fabulous bathroom. TV in the bathroom mirror connected to Bose speakers - that's a first for any hotel I've stayed in. Large room with a nice view of the harbor. Only ding is that we were on the 10th floor which means our view was still somewhat obscured by the Vancover conference center that rises about nine floors (between the hotel and the harbor) that has grass and weeds on the roof. May be green but I would have preferred it was mowed. Stay here on the 12th floor or higher (they have over 20) and view across the harbor is great. Nice dimmer switches around the room and auto curtain control. Very cool place. Lobby martini bar, weekend entertainment does not disappoint.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

Don't miss walking along the harbor path to Stanley Park. Do not walk to Chinatown. Neighborhood away from downtown hotels changes before you get to Chinatown and we didn't find any restaurants worth mentioning there anyway.

The restraunt Coast is amazing, ask the concierge where to go they will never send you someplace that isn't good..I opted to eat fine dining, but I am sure there are less expensive places to eat. Lots of night life, lots to do, a week is not enough time in the City of Vancouver.

Fairmont Pacific Rim

We had an amazing time at the Fairmont! Its's beautifully situated on the waterfront between the Shaw building and the new Vancouver Convention Centre. The Fairmont Pacific Rim is brand new - it's beautifully designed and decorated (minus the tackily-decorated Christmas trees in the lobby), the bedrooms are quite large and modern with incredibly comfortable beds, the bathroom is almost as big as the bedroom with marble everything, a huge walk-in shower that could fit 12 people, a TV in the mirror, and a lovely soaker tub. There's a good-sized pool also available, although the one hot tub was rather small. We found the staff to be helpful and pleasant and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. One of the nicest hotels we've stayed at and worth a visit!

Truly a beautiful hotel

The harbor view of Vancouver is gorgeous, and the hotel room I had there captured it daily. The room was totally contempory, modern, and luxurious. Lights and drapes were power pad controlled. The bedding...perfect. The staff were beyond courteous. The bar...relaxing. What a nice home away from home when at a conference, or as a couple.
