Great place to stay
Arrived after riding the ferry from Digby and located the hotel fairly easily, considering St. John can be confusing to get around. Young guy at desk was friendly and clear about parking details ( free on weekend). Room was very nice, clean...bed comfortable. Nice location for a walk in the park up the hill. Tim Horton's across the street. Only downside was breakfast options. Adjoining cafe had exorbitantly priced buffet, McD's in the mall didn't open until 8 AM. Overall, a good stay, though.

Wonderful visit! Great customer service!
Having traveled for two weeks around Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, my group was thrilled to have this hotel as our send-off back home. The staff was so helpful and friendly and the hotel was lovely - right on the water with a beautiful view. Easy access to shopping, restaurants, theatre and sightseeing made the visit even more enjoyable.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Delightful bistro named Beatty and the Beastro. Owned by Helen, who is charming and fun, and everything is homemade and delicious. Right next to the Imperial Theater if one is attending a function. Billy's Seafood is also a great choice.

not geared for non-business travelers
excruciatingly long waits for check-ins, nickel and diming over parking and breakfast, scripted/impersonal service - all these things add up to a pretty frustrating experience for the average leisure/vacationing traveler. the rooms are fine - clean and tidy and well-sized, but the overall experience at the Chateau (a 3 minute drive from downtown) was orders-of-magnitude more satisfying.

For a better value and overall better breakfast - hit the St John City Market (located across the street from the hotel)

Not Really That Picky
On the road in Saint John NB
On the road from Boston to Halifax, Saint John is a good more-than-halfway stopping point. We stayed here last summer as well, and though it is not fancy, the hotel is centrally located right downtown with free parking. We stayed here before, and we'll most likely do it again.

Lots of casual dining spots right downtown... Sebastian has closed sadly -- replaced with a sports bar -- so pickings are slim. Prepare to be underwhelmed by the food options.

Saint John New Brunswick
Easy to park but a bit expensive, $13 a night. No breakfast included. Great location. Close to shopping, restaurants, visitor center. 45 min drive to Fundy Drive and can drive to Fundy National Park and back in one day. We did the jet boat ride on the entrance to the river. Bring clothes you get totally wet. Great bus tour about $20. Exellent visitor center. Go to the visitor center on the corner of King street and St. Patrick for information before you go do anything. Great information!!!

Hit the visitor center before anything. There are many nice restaurants right down the street at the Market Center. Reasonable for lunch and dinner. Shopping near by and a City Market that has local produce. St. John Ale House has excellent food and beer and makes everything fresh with fresh local ingredients.

Trip to Canada
Wonderful hotel, however, St. John was too quiet. Not much going on in the area. It appeared that since it was off season,we were there May 23rd to 25th, most of the stores, restaurants and activities are not open, which of course, made St. John, New Brunswick not very interesting besides Reversing Falls.

Wait to June. The stores are open and the activities, such as the Jet Boat rides around Reversing Falls are open.
