DELTA CHELSEA EXPERIENCE

My stay at the Delta Chelsea was fantastic. The room decor was great. It was easily accessible to all types of transportation. There was information and staff readily available for planning all types of activities from sightseeing to transportation to shopping to dining. There were several dining choices located on site to please every palate, sightseeing tours provided pick up & drop off at the front door, everyone I encountered was very friendly and knowledgeable about the city and suggested sites of interest (Casa Loma was amazing), I could have spent an entire day at the Farmer's Market, the Peameal Bacon was so delicious, everyone who visits Toronto has to try it. The ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) was incredible, the exhibits were awesome especially the Terracotta Warriors, the Shoe Museum is a "must see". All the sights were simply wonderful, I had a terrific experience, I'm looking forward to returning next year.

Average hotel

My fiancee and I traveled to Toronto for a bit of weekend fun (CN Tower, Royal Museum, Ontario Art Gallery, etc.) - first time to the beautiful city and it was a good time. As for the hotel, it was rather average. The good: - friendly staff - comfortable beds and clean rooms - great location (easy walking distance to many attractions and close to subway stations) The bad: - We got the two night stay for around $180USD/per night but were directly facing construction across the street. There was no activity the first (sat.) night but Monday morning we awoke to construction sounds. - No wifi in our rooms (although they did seem to have an eithernet cable) - I could not pick up any wifi in the lobby on my smartphone - parking was roughly $30USD/night - no complimentary breakfast

delta chelsea

Visit family and friends. The stuff is very nice, but they have no knowledge. For example: They do not know, when the major shopping center opens,(Eaton Center, it is 2 blocks away), what is the location of a major bank,(RBC) etc...

Delta Chelsea

Hotel has a great location and a couple of decent restaurants. Lots to do within walking distance. My room was very nice but very small. More on the European side of size.

Loved the Delta Chelsea

Stayed one night at the Delta Chelsea. Finding my way around the one way streets and no left turn streets around the hotel made getting to the hotel very challenging. The valet parking was full and my friend got the last spot in the parking garage. Over the two days I was there the lobby always seemed very noisy & croweded. Check in was quick. I was lucky. I checked in just as two tour buses off loaded their passengers to check in. Room was nice, coffe maker, blow dryer, plenty of hangers in the closet, in room wireless access, plenty of towels, large LCD TV. The bed was super comfortable with a nice feather quilt & pillows. The room & bathroom were very clean. The staff was the most pleasant staff I have encountered anywhere at any hotel I have ever stayed at. My room was cold so I called the front desk. Within 10 minutes they had sent up a space heater & two blankets. With those I was as warm as toast all night. 3 minor points - there is construction going on acroos the street from the hotel. During the week it might be noisy. The walls are papar thin & I could hear the couple next door going at it all night. The bathroom was so small the bathroom door would hit the toilette. I ate Sunday breakfast at the hotel restaurant and I thought it was very good & reasonably priced. Overall I enjoyed my stay very much at the Delta Chelsea & would recommend this hotel.

Service left much to be desired

The Delta Chelsea in Toronto is in a good location and our room was nice (aside from a lack of lighting) and clean. However, the service left something to be desired. The weather was unseasonably cool over the Labor Day weekend and our room was cold, so we asked for an extra blanket. We were told that the hotel did not have any extra blankets, and that it could not turn up the heat unless it turned on the heat for the whole hotel. My husband was then connected to the night manager who never picked up. As a result, my husband ended up sleeping in his clothes for two nights, and I wore the one terry cloth bathrobe in the closet that had been provided by the hotel. We would never stay at this hotel again, because the impression that we received was that the hotel cares more about turning a profit and less about the people who stay there.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Try the hop on, hop off bus service that leaves from Wanda's Belgian Waffles (near the Chelsea) or at any number of attractions. It costs circa $35 for an adult and the pass is good for a week. We took the 2-hour trip around Toronto and then selected the attractions we wanted to see after that. Discounted tickets for some of the attractions are offered on the bus and a cruise out to Center Island is included in the ticket price. This is a really good deal. We also ate at a very good vegetarian restaurant behind the Chelsea on Bay Street. It is called Commencal. We were there for Sunday brunch buffet. The food was excellent, but they do weigh your plate and charge based on weight. My husband's plate cost $27! Mine was only $11 -still a little pricey for brunch, but the food is excellent!
