Bantu Hotel Boutique

Bantu is a wonderful hotel in Cartagena. Located inside the walled part of the city (a must), it's very close to shops, restaurants, and night life. The rooms are very vibrant and clean, and the staff was quite helpful. Cartagena is hot and humid, and the air conditioning in the room was an Arctic blast of fresh air. The pool on the roof is quite small - more like an oversized hot tub, and the included breakfast was a modest omelet with toast and fruit, but overall this hotel more than met our expectations. We will definitely return to Bantu on our next visit to Cartagena, which can't come soon enough!

I loved the hotel, its a small charming and comfortable boutique hotel. Great swimming pool and jacuzzi at the roof terrace. Location is fantastic, in the old town. Could not expect anything better,, it was a great surprise.

The center of Cartagena is incredibly touristic, so it's great that this hotel is right on the edge of that area, so it is less than five minutes walk, but you also get to live in the San Diego neighborhood, which has all of the charm of the proper colonial center, but with much less of the downsides of a tourist area. The hotel itself is wonderful. As an example, they turn the AC on in your room hours before you get there, so that the room feels great when you walk in (Cartagena is very hot and humid, so you'll understand how nice that feels). Then it has a charming courtyard with a resident Toucan tropical bird with the rainbow nose. The pool on the roof makes for a great pastime in the afternoon when the heat makes it too oppressive to walk around a lot. You can sit by the pool drinking an ice cold Coca Cola in a glass bottle, which is a pleasure you don't see in the US anymore. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.

Beautiful old building, welcoming atmosphere, staff friendly and helpful with service and information. Would go back. Following a energy blackout in the area, wifi router that served my room stopped working , so in the last 2 days I needed to go to common areas for connection.

This was my worst experience ever. I attended a wedding in Cartagena, and all of my friends were staying at the same hotel, which was full with all the wedding guests; friends I hadn't seen in years. I booked this hotel with [...]and received my confirmation, but when I arrived at 10 p.m. I found out the hotel never received my reservation. I had to spend 2 of my 3 nights in a horrible hotel 2 blocks down the road, in a really tiny room. Thank god my wife and I didn't travel with our baby, because there wasn't enough space in the room even for our luggage. I expect a full refund and an explanation!

The swimming pool was closed and this was not public knowledge ( it is more like a roof top bath tub ). The Sauna and Turkish bath were not on either... The were some extremly loud and roudy guests that the management did not control adequately. They screamed all night. The wifi signal does not reach the rooms so you have to use the common areas.
