Beautiful pool with wet-bar, every thing included - except Wifi
In April it is hot and sunny. The view is beautiful, incl. from the pools and restaurants. With food and drinks included, you can leave your money in the room. Order your drink and enjoy it, perfectly mixed by the bar crew. Don't expect fine food. The buffet is at most average. Beef requires sharp teeth. The variety of the daily topic in the evening is very limited. Fruits are gorgeous, especially the super sweet pineapples. The illumination of the hotel room is absolutely insufficient. Wifi is the biggest pain. You have to pay for it based on time selections (USD 12 per day). Renewal requires a new username. Reception is only available at the lobby (loud, little space and crowded).

Wonderful R&R Vacation
Just got back and had a great time. Beautiful location, right on the beach and the people and staff were great! Only complaint is could have a better variety of food. Gets pretty tiring of the same thing for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Other than that, had a great time and would highly recommend,

Not what I was expecting
I was expecting the Villa Sol to be a true all inclusive comparable to the others I have stayed at around the Caribbean and in Costa Rica ,that being said I was wrong in me expectations. They are more of an A.I. Resort on their terms ,like no water, soda or beer in your room and if you ask for it your told point blank NO you can go to the store and buy your own( their words not mine) the restaurant is ok but the portions are small and the selection is limited, except for breakfast which is fantastic. The bar is small and crowded so the bartenders just ignore you and a side note its a little strange when you see children sitting at the bar playing on their I pads . The staff almost go out of their way to ignore you . Now the plus side they do have some positives ,the pool bar is fun and Elmer is a fun bartender and the entertainment staff go out of their way to make it fun,the burgers ,dogs and nachos at the pool are some of the best food we ate there, drinks are excellent . They do have a few other staff members that go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable Sergio and Flory in the main dining area greet you with a Hola and a smile( simple but goes a long way)Gilbert our concierge was also very pleasant . Over all I would not return to this hotel due to the lack of personal interaction by the bulk of the staff ( managers included)

Quite Underwhelming
Bar tenders and activity staff were great. Food service and house keeping were poor. It was a struggle every meal to get water/coffee/drinks when basically that is the only task they have to do. They walk around and do not make eye contact with anyone so you cannot signal them that you need something. More than once I had to get up and poor my own water and coffee. The food was okay with little variety. Same breakfast everyday. Other meals were often dry and over cooked. If you want your one specialty restaurant meal, you have to get there at 6:30 a.m. to make your reservation for that evening. They only allow 8 diners per night for the entire resort...why bother. House keeping would come take your soap, wash cloths, etc. and not replace anything. They also just turned my old coffee cup over without washing it. It still had stains in it. Not much going on at night, but you can go to bars along the beach to have drinks and sometimes run into the staff drinking after hours and they are more than willing to show you a good time. The locals are very friendly and the nearby towns are nice to go too. Just not much keeping you in this resort. This is definitely not a resort that you would want to stay around and hang out in. It is a resort that you simply sleep in, occasionally eat in and have some drinks in between going somewhere else to have a good time. BTW the drink menu consists of 10 drinks and they do not stray from that. No drinks with banan or coconut...? Isn't this the tropics? In sum, if you get a GREAT (CHEAP) deal and do not have high expectations about the resort and just need a place to crash while you enjoy yourself eslewhere...which I recommend in this beautiful country...and don't require any type of service or attention, stay here for it's location. As a fellow guest's first impression stated, "Quite Underwhelming".

Average
The hotel lacked variety in food. We could not get reservations at the a la carte restaurant and the buffet got old after 3 days. However, the staff was helpful and friendly- some of the best bartenders and servers! The accommodations are average. The location is perfect- easy to travel surrounding area. We had a good trip, but overall would not stay at this resort again.

The staff in the restaurant was amazing. The view was also great! There was little or no evening activity which was a real shame. The food, including the a la carte was very good. It was a relief to have shuttle service as we were not prepared for the steepness of the landscape.

We took a river boat eco tour arranged through the on site tour desk and would recommend it to anyone! The wildlife viewed up close was incredible! Crocs, monkeys and birds galore. A very good meal included.

Nice
Overall it was a great experience. The front desk was not very helpful and not so friendly. They charge a dollar per min while making a local call. Hotel Condovac next door offers phone calls for a dollar for 8 min plus they offer three computers for internet use. How ever the staff at the restaurant were excellent. Especially Donaldo and the best bartender Mike. They helped us out even better than the front desk. The location is close to Playa Coco. The tours are alot cheaper at the beach than at the hotel. Has some very nice views especially from the bar and restaurant.

Misleading
If you stay at the hotel, be warned. It seems as though the only reason this place has a 4 star rating is due to the villas... the actual hotel is more like a 2.5. Very disappointing. The food was inferior as well. My husband and I had read other reviews praising the cuisine. I'm not sure if the menu changed since then? I suppose it's wonderful food if you enjoy rice, beans, and plantains for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. The resort is also a distance from the beach. You must take a shuttle bus to the public beach that is filled with vendors. The resort also offers no night life. Period. We would definitely stay elsewhere if we ever return to Costa Rica.
