unfriendly hotel

Would not recommend Thu 16 Oct 2014
Whilst the hotel & location are nice the staff were very unfriendly. The tour organised by hotel to Montenegro was awful & badly advertised. Thank goodness for the weather. Not enough information forthcoming from reception.

Attractions

Old city is well worth a visit.

great hotel

Would recommend Wed 15 Oct 2014
Lovely hotel with very modern rooms. The included buffet breakfast was great. The hotel is built on a hill and we were on the 8th floor. We had an excellent view of Gruz harbour, however our room was in the back section of the building so we had to take 3 elevators (or 2 plus stairs) to get to and from the lobby. Easy access to the Lapad Peninsula, and the old city is just a quick bus ride away.

Dining

There were several excellent restaurants close to the hotel, but we had our best meal at Otto Taverna, just a short walk away, at the end of Gruz harbour.

What a fabulous hotel. Location, facilities, quality and most of all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely return.

Money saver

Number 6 bus to the old town. Tickets 12Kr from reception. It takes 10 minutes. Well worth it.

Great for long weekend

Would recommend Thu 15 May 2014
Great place to stay if combining sightseeing with relaxation. Lovely location on Gruz harbour. Nice terrace and swimming pool. Bus stop to the Old Town very nearby and only a 5-10 minute ride. Staff very helpful and pleasant.

Time saver

Think before buying return coach tickets from airport as return times change daily and not always convenient.

Pleasant Stay for Individual Travellers

Would recommend Thu 1 May 2014
The hotel is facing the harbour with an impressive view. Bus No. 6 between the Old City and the Lapad Peninsula stops outside the hotel main entrance, providing easy travels. Our room was amazingly quiet even with the air-conditioning on. The housekeeping staff were courteous and attentive, making our room perfectly clean and tidy everyday. There was however no supply of guest slippers, a small disappointment in room amenities. The breakfast buffet was generous offering a great variety of quality eats and drinks. Restaurant staff would need to be more attentive as our used plates were often not collected. We had to bring them to a nearby trolley to make room for our table in several occasions. The overall experience with our stay was nonetheless a pleasant one!

Money saver

The Dubrovnik card is of good value for money providing free entrance to 8 attractions (including the City Wall) and 20 free city bus rides over a 7-day period.

Great location lovely building poor housekeeping

Would recommend Fri 25 Apr 2014
We stayed at Hotel Lapad for a week - the hotel itself is in a good location either a 45 min walk from the Old Town or a 35 min bus ride around the peninsula. Bus tickets can be bought at the hotel however they ran out during our stay. The hotel is a gorgeous old building with a decent pool (unheated so not usable in April) and our room was lovely and large and overlooked the rear of the building so was quiet. Housekeeping standards were poor - things were forgotten including towels on our first day, and toilet roll, and dirty cups were not replaced on occasion. We also had some ants in our room and whilst housekeeping sprayed some insect killer the ants returned. Breakfast was reasonable if a little limited - unfortunately the hotel seemed to have trouble keeping hot food hot (eggs and bacon were lukewarm) and cold items cold (orange juice and milk were never cold). We didn't have lunch or dinner at the hotel. Dubrovnik itself is fantastic and this hotel makes a good base to explore.

Dining

Walk left out of the hotel and follow the shoreline along to the restaurant Orsan - fantastic fresh fish!

Great base for exploring Dubrovnik

Would recommend Sun 6 Oct 2013
Hotel has a very stylish frontage which hides just how big it really is. We stayed in a superior room which is in the original building. The room was well appointed, most things you would expect from a hotel: safe, hairdryer, kettle, etc. Room had a shower over the bath, as well as a separate shower cubicle with large rain shower and multiple water jets. Shower does have a semi obscured glass wall backing on to the bedroom and the bathroom a glass door, so be careful who you travel with! Breakfast buffet was big and fresh. Pancakes, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, juice, cold meats, cheeses, bacon, sausages, eggs, etc. The perfect fuel for exploring the old town. The old town of Dubrovnik is only a thirty minute walk from the hotel along the harbour front, up a hill and along a costal road. You can catch the bus from outside the hotel (number 6), which runs very frequently and until after midnight (single tickets 15KN if bought on board, or 12KN if bought from hotel reception, all day travel 30KN )
