Good choice for couples & family

Compared to my citycenter hotel stay, Copenhagen İsland hotel has beter location despite long walking distance to city center facilities. However, next to public open air swimming facility, next to cinema and shopping complex, and less crowded and less noisy which you have chance to have some privacy compared to central stay locations. Rooms are not big enough but well designed, breakfast was OK but extra!..

Excellent Hotel

The hotel is the perfect place to relax after a busy day in such a beautifull city. The rooms are not big but with all the amenities that you need to fell confortable. Very, clean and with a better view. The staff was very friendly and cooperative. Within walking distance of a very nice mall where you could eat and shop. A good fifteen minutes walk from the center but very safe to walk and enjoy the view. I will come back to this hotel if I come back to Copenhagen.

Bring confortable shoes because the city invites you to walk and explore on your own. The city tours are very good and will give you an idea where you could walk to see memorable arquitecture, streets, and restaurants where you could sit and enjoy the culture of Copenhagen.

Bait and Switch

Based on it's relatively high ratings, I thought I had found a good simple and safe bet. Nope. This hotel isn't near anything, except a nicer hotel that starts with "Tiv"... (across the street) and the management seem to play a game of bait and switch. When we arrived, they issued keys for a certain room, and then asked if we didn't want to upgrade now that we were there, for a "nicer room that isn't noisy or small and has a harbour view". The desk agent said that he definitely thought it was worth it, especially for only another 200 crowns per night, and when we declined the upgrade, our room was suddenly changed and we were issued keys to room 101 - right next to the lobby, tiny, very worn (the high traffic room they give to those who book at discount-rates?) and smelling of smoke, which we had specifically requested to avoid. Though we didn't want to play this game, we had little choice since our reservation was paid for and we decided to ask for the upgrade 30 minutes later. The check-in staff smiled at each other and gladly took our money. The "upgraded" room wasn't much better and the design of this hotel (and condition) is that of a modern Danish property from around 1997. It's sparse and lacking, certainly not simple and chic. There's nothing great about the location (it's a long walk to the action) and the restaurant is remarkably bad and outrageously expensive. In future, I will neither stay at nor recommend this hotel. It simply acts like an worn 2-star property at 4-star cost. No thanks..

A beach resort in downtown Copenhagen

After staying in the heart of historic Copenhagen in a small hotel, it was refreshing to be by the water with contempory buildings and space. We had bikes otherwise it would be too far away from central town. There was swimming and boat rental next to the hotel and fun to bike around , over the bridge. Very clean and nice staff. The only uncomfortable part was sitting down to dinner in the nice restaurant and having no option but to order a minimum of a $50 dinner, one course. It would have been much nicer to have a Larger selection. Good food but you are so far away from any restaurants that you have no choice

Very nice property

Very nice property, and nicely located to Copenhagen with a one station ride to the main station. Next to a nice mall too, and the canal tour boats stop off by the hotel too. Nice big breakfast as well. Staff was nice and helpful. Issues: Internet is free (yay!), but they often don't have sufficient capacity in the hotel for all the iPads and laptops asking for a WiFi IP address. You may have to wait till others drop off. This is easily rectified if only they bought more routers. Our TV did not work during the whole stay. The front desk man said they were converting from "old" TVs to new ones, and our room had not yet been converted yet, and this somehow explained why it did not work. Anyhow, he did not offer but when I asked for free breakfasts to compensate for this, he didn't hesitate to do so. Moral: Just need to ask for what you want! They also lent me an adapter for USA style plugs, which was very nice. No charge for that. Very clean and bright hotel... Dan

Clean, new hotel

A bit out of the way from the touristy stuff, which has it's plusses and minuses. We enjoyed the location quite a bit -- the upgrade cost to have a room overlooking the water is definitely worth it. But, there is not a lot of food nearby and the hotel restaurant is just so-so. Expect to be taking cabs around the city to eat dinner or to be paying for the breakfast buffet. The room was very clean and stylish.

Very nice Room with minor design issues

Contemporary decor, clean, big bath tub. water leak to floor and even on top of toilet due to gap between shower glass door and wall. So leave you clean clothes outside the bathroom to ensure you have dry clothes to change into. Also, the steps at the hotel front door before you get to the check in counter aren't guest friendly, especially for handicap or older folks - not a very thoughtful design for a hotel.

Buyer Be ware

This hotel is located close to town. It was quite modernly decorated and bathroom floors were heated. There is a mall next door to where you can buy food. If you are returning from a cruise you can take the "HOP on Hop off bus at the cruise terminal and it will bring you The Marriott Hotel, this is a short walk To Copenhagen Island Hotel. You can then use your bus pass to travel around for 48 hours. The negatives about his hotel is we had to wait until three pm to get access to the room, there were two single beds put together, the mattress kept moving around, the sheet was not fitted and exposed the mattress which had spots on it. during the night I fell off the bed and I had nothing to drink.

Review

Contempary Danish design. Immaculate. Several problems ultimately satisfied with price reduction. TV didn't work--took 2 hours to get sevice, but it never did work. Promised an additional single bed which never came (we thought this would put us in a larger room). Must walk down & back up 40 stairs or a long ramp which puts you 300 feet beyond hotel entrance--not fun with luggage. Excellent food in resturant but limited menu & slow service.

Great Stay

We were very impressed with this hotel. The location was great, just one train stop away from Copenhagen Central/Tivoli/etc.. We actually walked to Tivoli and it only took about 15 minutes. The hotel itself was very nice. Very modern with fairly spacious rooms (for Europe at least), clean, etc... We had an actual double bed rather than two singles pushed together, flat screen TV, small closet, mini bar, clean bathroom with shampoo, etc (why is this so uncommon in European hotels?), and even an outlet converter! We would definitely stay there again.
