The Square Hotel Copenhagen

after traveling for 30 hours.. and booking ahead 8 months... The Square Hotel told us they had over booked ! They did provide a taxi, a nice hotel and a bottle of wine, but the new hotel was way on the outskirts of Copenhagen! We would probably not book there again.

Bed was really soft. Went with a girlfriend and we had to share a bed (didn't have any room w/2single beds). Air conditioning was really just air circulation and didn't work very well. The entire hotel was warm. So we kept our windows open but we were right downtown and all night we heard, police sirens, ambulance sirens, screeching cars and loud motorcycles, not to mention all the people talking and yelling. Didn't get any sleep. Did complain and they didn't charge us for breakfast.

The lobby and rooms are very clean and the employees are OK. They try, but seems they really lack the training they need. They should take a few lessons from the Radisson, where they are the closest thing to perfection I have ever seen. We had room mix ups, bed mix ups, three times before they got it. Stale sour Tuborg beer in lobby. I don't know if it was cleaner or what in lines but horrible. Elevator doors had to be opened by hand and were very heavy and hard to open with luggage or anything in hands. Rooms were very hot on average Copenhagen night and you cannot sleep with all the noise below without ear plugs. All in all. Not a great experience.

The hotel was fine3. But the bars outside of the hotel were extremely noisy until the wee hours of the morning.

Friendly staff, Nordic types which is cool; comfortable room (not one of the smaller ones), good buffet breakfast. Definitely recommend.

I came for business/pleasure- The bad part was my room was really small, and looked over an alley...I wouldnt classify it as a 4 star hotel. There is no restaurant and you have to pay like 150dkk for breakfast... Mostly I just went to the cafe on the corner under the hotel. The staff were good but they tend to come into the room whenever they please...being very jet lagged I was not impressed to have staff coming in at least 3 or 4 times the next day to check the minibar, etc. The privacy factor was at a poor level. The good part is it is very well located, clean, and the front desk was quite nice.

The check-in girl was very helpful and friendly. No issues with the maid service. We needed a double bed, but they offered two beds put together. The beds kept splitting apart. This is NOT the Square's fault, we wanted the room and accepted the bed configuration in the room. I just wanted to add a note that putting two beds together is not a good idea...better just to get a bigger bed! We ate their buffet breakfast both mornings. It had enough variety for me. Their coffee service was fast when intially seated, but alittle lacking thereafter (no big issue though). Alot a business-type people eating breakfast there.

Breakfast reasonably priced but food was comparable to Holiday Inn, nothing special. There is a coffee house next door which provided a convenient alternative. Walking distance to most of Copenhagen's tourist attractions. Soundproofing is not good as you can easily hear the street noise even from the 5th floor.

We spent one night in Copenhagen on our way to Stockhom so I was looking for a hotel close to Central Station and also a few tourist destinations. The hotel is right by City Hall, our room did not face the city hall square so it wasn't too noisy. The Square is right by Tivoli and a pedestrian shopping street (Stogel?) The bed was really soft and unsupportive, but other than that it was a sufficient room. Seemed clean. Our room was not available at noon upon arrival(we were not alone, the staff lock up your baggage for you in the front lobby, and there was tons of it everywhere!) We were told to come back at 3 and it was all set.Upon check in we were given an "upgrade" to a deluxe room for free, she said it was bigger than what we paid for. The room was really small and had very little space for luggage so I can't imagine the closet a regular room must be! Secure lobby, needing room key to access all floors via stairs and elevator. They also had no problem keeping our luggage until 3 the next day after check out. Staff wasn't super friendly, but were efficient and had no problems with them. But, for the price we paid I would say go for it if the location works for you.

convenient central location for many attractions and public transport links however this is a noisy area with music and other events in the city square outside until late.
