very good for the price

The staff was great, the food was excellent, and the alcohol could have been better. The pool was nothing spectacular but was good. The beach was beautiful, aside from the non-stop harassing vendors (nothing like in Punta Cana). The room was a little rundown and not the cleanest (two bugs and some cobwebs), but I've seen worse. The only real/major complaint about this hotel: BORING!! There is NO entertainment during the day (aside from 20 minutes of water aerobics and a volleyball game or two# and the staff was dull and boring. The shows at night were somewhat entertaining, but all of the entertainment came from the crowd.. the show is basically put on by the guests. There was an attempt at dancing by the workers, but it was sloppy and unimpressive. There were a lot of locals, including what appeared to be the children of the resort staff, at any given time. The resort was overrun with locals during the weekend. They were find, but the place was packed. The location is great if you're looking to do activities off of the resort #which you basically have to, unless you're content with laying on a beach for a week straight and doing nothing else#. It's not too far from Santo Domingo and other neighboring towns with nightlife, all of which were very safe for two young American women traveling alone. The excursions offered on the resort that we tried #horseback riding and Saona Island# were great, as was Santo Domingo #very tourist friendly). So, overall, if you're looking for an average, relaxing resort with good food and decent drinks, this is perfect and definitely worth the price. If you're looking for something to do during your stay, you either need to be prepared to leave the resort, or should stay in Punta Cana. The "disco" had about 15 people and a handful of hookers in it on a Friday night, and was unnecessarily loud throughout the rooms. The sports bar was cute, but also not much going on. Also, the beach is beautiful, but the surrounding resorts looked like ghost towns in April, for some reason we couldn't figure out. As far as the rooms, this is clearly not a 5-star hotel and is not a good destination if you plan to spend any extended period of time in the room. Overall, we were very pleased with the experience. However, unless they add some entertainment, I will not be returning to this resort, as I've been to other all-inclusives that keep you entertained with dancing, games, etc., and I expected the same here.

We had a good time!

My husband and I had a good time. We did a lot of activities outside the hotel and participated in night shows. The food was just ok. I wasn't happy with the room because the air conditioning was having issues but the technical staff tried to fix it as soon as possible.

Average place for family

The rooms need major renovations. Room service was average. The food was below average, every day I had to wait for a clean cups to get coffee. Beach was not bad. Shows were boring.

Get what you pay..Nice beach bad service

Is a Hotel in great location, nice beach and good insfracture although is old. Nevertheless the service is not good, food is very ordinary and the hotel needs maintance. Is a option if you are looking for a low-medium cost hotel, want to just rest for few days on the beach and be close to Santo Domingo (40min).

Enjoyable visit

I only stayed 1 night, shame on me. I will go back in November for 3 nights. The location was wonderful, 2 of the 4 dining options closed the night we stayed. Check in and out where good and fast for the Dominican. Used this 1 night to see if worth going back to, We will go back in November for 3 nights if price remains the same.. Since only 1 night did not really get to enjoy all the options available but will on next stay. Asked for a waterview with king bed, got a nice waterview room with doubles which was not a problem. The overall experience was nice and hope to be back soon... Thanks Joe

Getaway

The hotel is beautiful! I had a great time but... The pool side bar was always closed so u had to get out of the pool to get one and all the bars close at a certain time so if you where by the beach and wanted a drink after hours you would have to walk all the into the hotel to get to the sports bar which is the bar that's stays open late.the food was amazing at the restaurants but you have to make sure to be there at a specific time you can't eat when you want... The only thing that stays open most of the time is the snack bar which only make burgers, hot dogs that don't look cooked and fries during the day and at night only tacos and fake pizza.

Decent value, nice beach location, bad service

For the price, this resort was decent and is in a nice location. The beach and surroundings were pretty good though not spectacular. The beach was not too crowded and there were usually plenty of chairs available there and at the pool. The food and drinks were so-so or even below average, but hey, they're free since it's all-inclusive. The other guests were no problem - a mix of spring breakers, who weren't out of control, with older American and European retirees and such. The customer service, on the other hand, needs some serious help. When we arrive, around 1:30 am, we encountered problems with the check-in. The guy at the counter looked us up and found our reservation in the computer, but refused to check us in without a "voucher" as he kept repeating. Unlike every online e-reservation I've ever made for a hotel, flight, rental car, etc, this one expected a piece of paper showing our reservation even though his computer showed our fully-paid reservation. Only after we'd spoken to several different people (none of whom were obviously in charge, and who had very limited English ability among them) did they assist my girlfriend in getting on a working computer to print out the reservation email. Once we got to the room (it was almost 3am by this point), we found that the shower did not work at all, there was no hot water there or in the sink, and that the toilet was problematic. Only the next morning did they fix the hot water (they just had to flip a switch apparently) and make the shower operable. The toilet remained problematic (noisy at all times, incredibly slow to refill) throughout our stay. The beds were rather hard but not too bad I suppose. The maid service was generally pretty good. The restaurant foods were well below average; the fish in particular should be avoided as it was not fresh (ironic for a beach resort). Worst of all was the service at the restaurants. It was generally sluggish and unhelpful across the board. At the pasta restaurant (the most popular and thus most crowded), the customer service was downright atrocious. The hostess was a (expletive deleted) and left us and others to wait in the waiting area, without taking our names for the line, for 10-15 minutes at a time. She clearly had too many responsibilities but she could have been nicer about it - it is her job to serve customers after all. The wait staff was slightly less mean but no more helpful. When my girlfriend's food was cold (she noticed after a couple bites - I think it included fish again), she sent it back and told them it was cold. The waiter eventually returned with it, about 20 minutes later, having simply re-warmed the same slightly-eaten plate of food. I thought any waiter would know to bring a new plate, this time actually hot. How incompetent can they get? We gave up and left. So yeah, the beach is nice, the drinks are plentiful but very watered-down, and the food is so-so, but the service is terrible. I guess you get what you pay for.
