Would not go again.

We were a group of five families. Three families had to switch rooms because of air condition problems. One family had to switch rooms twice. Had frequent incidents of the water cutting off while In the shower. Rooms were very average. Food was average. Nothing to do at night.

Beautiful Beach - Average Staff

The Palladium its a huge complex, with many things to do. There is a very large beach connecting to other hotels, which can be walked for quite some time in both directions. The beach and water are top notch. Due to the size of the complex, it is difficult to see everything and do everything at the resort, unless you stay a LONG time. The service provided by staff at restaurants, beaches, and bars was average at best.

AMAZING!

i just got back from here 2 days ago. it was the most incredible place i have ever been. the grounds were spotless, the rooms were great (could have used a little update but were still very clean) the pools were AMAZING. the staff, the nicest people i have EVER met, they would bend over backwards for you and catered to your every need, Faustin at the front desk was incredible. from the second we checked in he remembered our names and would always say hi to us even if he was with other people. the beach was breathtaking. the entertainment teams for the beach and the pool were incredible. the food in the main buffett was awsome, but the smaller buffets were not as good, the restaurants were very good, 4 course meals everynight. the disco (dance club) was alot of fun. the sports bar was great. it was good to have somepleace to get food 24 hrs a day becuase sometimes the excursions we did we missed a meal. the only thing i wish i had done was bring alot more american money in cash form (especially 1's). it was difficult to change over money from the atm i would highly HIGHLY recommend this place. im already planning a return trip for next year with some friends and will not even bother looking at other resorts. INCREDIBLE!

Great Weather, Great Value

The staff is extremely nice except at the front desk, who is normally busy and probably inundated with unreasonable requests from guests that forget this is a cheap hotel. Our room was very clean, but had some minor issues. There were some bugs, and our water pressure wasn't great in the shower. The food/waitstaff was good for breakfast, just okay for lunch and excellent at the specialty restaurants for dinner. I suspect that the liquor was watered down quite a bit, but we put in the extra effort to make up for it. Bavaro seemed to be the best choice for us, since Palace only got one exclusive restaurant/pool. I don't think we would've paid extra for the nicer room assuming that that's also part of it. This was my second trip to Punta Cana. I went to Ocean Blue & Sand in 2006. This hotel was much better than that one, but I suspect they have all gotten much better in the past 5 years.

Pretty good, all things considered.

Check out the snorkeling and para-sailing! You don't even have to leave the resort to book this, and the prices are reasonable.

Do NOT buy any excursions from the salesmen patrolling the beach and pool, or at least be prepared to haggle. The best way to avoid any problems down the line - albeit spend more money - is to buy straight from the hotel. My party and I had major dissatisfaction with one excursion, and since we had gone through a third party there was no settlement that could be reached.

dont go

Rooms were old and bedding is stinky. Shower did not work properly, water would go everywhere. all [...] travlers are directed to bldg 2000 which is the oldest building on the premises. The carts and or train(rubber tire)is a joke. You will wait and wait for a cart forever. Attitude of train driver is horrible,he is more interested in smoking and hustling lady tourists than doing his job. The buffets(all three of them) are bad.eggs are burnt and bacon is raw. The specialty resturants however are very good. The attitude of the travel coordinator for [...]was very poor. Didnt want to help you and was very difficult to find. Gave us bad info about our return ground transportation. We are very frequent travelers taking about 6 trips per year and this is one of the worst trips ever experenced. This was our third trip to punta cana alone. The palladium in jamacia is wonderful go there instead. The first cleaning lady we had was great(we tipped her well) the second cleaning lady was terrible. The hotel manager was very helpful once we complained of all of our problems and give 2 of our companions a free massage....however the spa would not accept them. The alcohol selections are at a minimum. One type beer, no bourbon, would make a minimum of blended drinks.etc. Beach bartender [...]and hemingway bartender [...]tried their best to accomodate us. They both had great attitudes.

Trip to DR

Our experience was amazing! The food was delicious (except the Italian restaurant) and the drinks never-ending!! But they could use some real bananas for their daquiris. We went to the Japanese place the first night and did the show. The food was really good and the cook did some awesome tricks! The beach is very big! Maybe about half a mile?? It's very clean and the water is very good, temperaure-wise and everything else. There is a special part of the beach for Royal Suite guests. That part has couches! Guess we should stay in that part next time lol. Also, get to the beach and pools early to reserve a spot under a hut. Otherwise, you might be stuck sitting in the sun all day. When I say early, I mean 6am or 7am. We stayed in the Punta Cana suites, which are also very nice. We stayed in a loft style room. At first, we were given the wrong room; not only did the hotel correct this, but they also gave us a free basket of fresh fruit and a bottle of rum. The train is the best way to get around and it allows you to learn what's on the resort, unless you stay in the Royal Suites because there, you get a cart any time you want to take you wherever. STAY AWAY FROM THE TRAVEL CLUB!! WASTE OF TIME!! It's worse than a use-car sales lot! They try to bribe you with breakfast at one of the "exclusive" restaurants, but don't do it! An hour into the "presentation", then they tell you about the costs, which are like $20k upfront. No joke. People try to sell you stuff, like excursions, while you're at the beach or pool. That's our only complaint bc we don't understand why the resort allows that, especially when they already have an area in the lobby for guests to check out excursions. Speaking of, we did the Safari excursion with the green Super Truck. It cost us $95/person and was worth every penny!! It was so much fun, lasted all day, we got lunch included, unlimited drinks on the bus, and we went horseback riding!! There are two theatres, Merengue and Sunset. Merengue seems to be more geared towards Americans since most of the shows were in English. Sunset, however, is the theatre I like more because that's where my fiance proposed!!! =)

Bring extra suntan lotion, etc. because the hotel stores charge so much more than what you would pay at home. For example, a normal bottle of suntan lotion costs $24!
