Excellent accommodations and friendly service near the Sphinx
Guests at the nicely appointed Grand Pyramids Hotel can reach the great pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx in minutes. In fact, this location just outside of Cairo is so fantastic that travelers can also be at Cairo University, the Giza Zoo or the Hanging Church in mere minutes. Choose from a number of great restaurants on site, including the enchanting Bedouin Tent, where classic Egyptian cuisine rules the menu. Work out in the fitness center, relax with a cold drink by the outdoor pool, visit the steam room or schedule a massage to unwind.
Highlights
  • Separate pool for children
  • La Pergola for meals in the shade
  • Many rooms have a view of the Giza Pyramids
Rooms
Relax in comfort at the Grand Pyramids Hotel while enjoying a view of one of the Seven Wonders of the World on the near horizon. Most have a view of the Giza Pyramids, but expect all rooms and suites to have large LCD televisions with satellite channels, high-speed Internet access (fees apply) and air conditioning. Additional space, private balconies, and upgraded amenities come with suites at the Grand Pyramids Hotel.

needs a good cleaning throughout

The hotel was a bargain at $36 per night for what you get. The room was nice but dirty...the walls in the room had black dirt or soot on them and if you rub up against them your clothes need to be washed. It looks like they never wipe down walls or clean the drapes. the carpets were dirty and dusty and there was mold and mildew in the bathroom. The nicest thing about this hotel was the compound was walled off so you are isolated from all the dirt and grime of being in Cairo and inside the compound was a nice pool, landscaped areas, outdoor bars and a bedouin tent for entertainment in the evening. Location was also good with access to the pyramids only a few minutes away and only a few seconds to get on the Ring road which circles the city.

avoid the hotel taxi, high rates and there are plenty of taxis just outside the hotel where you can negotiate MUCH lower rates.

Nice Hotel

I was happy with this hotel. It was my first time in Cairo but since then I have been back three times now. I have to admit I didn't stay in the hotel much during my trip there, but when I was the service was always very good. On my first night I woke up at 2 AM and ordered food, the staff was prompt to bring it right up and the food was pretty nice as well. I would say for the price and location being so close to the pyramids its a great place to pick. The only con that I can remember was the low water pressure. Other than that the staff was always friendly and helpful. And my room had a good selection of channels and was very clean, big and comfortable with a great view of the pool and pyramids in the distance.

This hotel is in a great location

This hotel is in a great location for visiting the Great Pyramids in Giza. The rooms are really big, clean, bright, and some have views of the pyramids! Which is pretty amazing to see through your window. If you don't get the view... take the elevator up a couple of floors. Breakfast is really good with a great selection of well prepared foods, I also had dinner in the Italian restaurant in the evening and they had a solo singer in the pool area singing popular music which was nice, the food and service from the Italian restaurant was very nice. My only complaint is that they are very paranoid about allowing guests who are not registered to the rooms. They could handle this in much more reasonable way... it seems. I have friends in Cairo and this was embarassing and irritating. As a suggestion have the friends register with an ID card at the front desk and then allow a visit. I understand security concerns but as a paying guest the way to which they take this to another level is wrong.

Good location that overlooks pyramids

Good location that overlooks pyramids -but only at floors 4 & 5. Old furnishings and facilities. High traffic noise from highway -no insulated windows. Internet is very expensive and slow.

EVerything good except avoid the car service in the lobby - way overpriced - you can walk right outside the front gate and get a taxi to provide the same services - negotiate with them of course - for about half or a third of the price this guy in the lobby charges. He's just ripping people off.

No disappointments at this hotel

Not sure about the location as we had a tour guide pickup us up each day. The hotel was very enjoyable and would stay there again. The room was large, clean and quite. The pyramids and the night laser show were great. Also, loads of fun riding the camel. If your have the time drive to Alexandria. You won't be disappointed.

Don't believe the hype

The water pressure was terrible. It took an hour to fill the bath tub. Every place reeked of cigarette smoke. My wife is pregnant so this was unacceptable.

We were there for 14 days. Better

We were there for 14 days. Better than I expected. In fact it's kind of posh. The pool is the center piece, the rooms are nice (with a balcony), the restaurants are good, particularly Luciano's (Italian). Breakfast (at La Palme D'Or) is good - they will try to herd you to a table, but sit where you want to - you are the guest. There are two nice gift shops in the hotel. There is an in-room vault and refridgerator. Laundry service is quick. There is a fast cable Internet conection in the room (good speed was a big surprise) with 30, 60 minute or 24 hour internet cards available to buy at the desk. There is a MISR Bank is in the hotel, and a good grocery store around the corner (100 yards walk). The bank is great for exchanging money, but charges $5 US per travelers cheque, so you should go to an Amercian Express or Thomas Cook office, which will charge 3% for the total. American Express is at 15 Kasar El Nil Street in Cairo (make a note - it's hard to find).
