Perfect Location
The location does not get any better, absolutely perfect. It is immediately adjacent to the Louvre and Tuilleries, two metro stations (Louvre-Carousel and Pyramides), and a short walk to the Opera and Galeries Lafayette. The staff were very nice and generous, and spoke perfect English with no hesitation. The consierge was also very helpful, knowledgeable and always available, even very late at night. I just had one of the best weekends of my life, and although the hotel was more of a background player, the convenience of it all was priceless and certainly added to the experience. And yet, I got a smokin' deal on the room! Please note: if you are the typical American who hates anything that is not a carbon-copy of the Wichita Courtyard Marriott you last stayed at, save your breath and go elsewhere. But if you appreciate belle-epoque design and find dated French decor as charming as I do, you will not be disappointed.

Take the Roissy bus from the airport into the city. It is cheaper than taxi or metro. (9 euros pp one way). The bus picks up in front of all CDG terminals. Tickets available at the bus stop or even on the bus.

Normandy Hotel
Friendly, welcoming staff that could help translate and give directions. [...] greeted each person warmly as they came through the door as if it was his home. The staff taking care of the room asked if we were satisfied. The bar was homey with a real fire every night. Great staff! It would be nice to have the breakfast and lunch service extended to each day. The location couldn't have been more convenient to the Louvre Museum, 6 cafes just across the street, many other attractions within walking distance. The Metro/RER 1/2 block away, ATM less than 1/2 block... they arranged our shuttle for the C.D. airport, very reasonable... can you tell we had a great time?!? Being guests of a well run, clean establishment when you are in a foreign country means a lot to a traveler.

Long walk from hotel
Le Secrets, a restaurant easily accessible via Metro/RER Charles de Gaulle Etoile on 16 avenue De Friedland, Paris. The lamb and the tuna served New Year's evening was indescribable.

You can find flaws if you search
You can find flaws if you search (peeling paint in place, etc.) but overall very comfortable and clean. A large bathroom with dressing table to provide extra surface space, plenty of hot water, comfortable beds, and everyone at the desk was very helpful and friendly. And the location is great! We were however, surprised to find that the breakfast, which we thought was included, wasn't--in other hotels in Paris where we have stayed in the past, breakfast was always included, and should have been here, too, in my opinion. But overall we liked it very much and would stay there again.

The location of this hotel is
The location of this hotel is fantastic, really close to the Louvre. The hotel itself has been updated downstairs and looks impressive. Our room, which was a superior double, was not as impressive, and as other reviewers have said needs a lick of paint and general updating. That said, it was large with a separate bathroom with bath and shower. Being an inward facing room there wasn't any view, but we weren't expecting that. It might be quite hot in summer as there isn't any air conditioning, but for winter time it was warm and cosy. Overall, it was a really comfortable room, the only downside for us English folks was the lack of any tea making facilities and having being stung 14 euros for two small beers on the first night in the bar we found ourselves running across the road to Starbucks and down to Macdonalds for takeaway tea. In fact getting takeout croissants from Paul's the really good chain cakeshop as well made for a tasty cheap breakfast!

Don't believe the all the rubbish
Don't believe the all the rubbish you read in the reviews of this hotel. Yes, it is old, and it needs modernisation, BUT that is not what Paris is all about. If you want character, a brilliant location, helpful staff and a flavour of this wonderful city you should stay here. As nearly everything in Paris is expensive, then the rate is not out of line. As a professional Tour Guide I am used to all sorts of hotels and I would be happy to stay here. It should not be 4star, but its the location, on the Rue Rivoli, across from the Louvre, with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby that sells it. Even a MacDonalds and Starbucks within 50 yards.Do not go to Paris if all you can do is moan about peeling paint, uninterested staff, crowds, noise and heat. Go in the winter instead, you will appreciate the warmth of the bedrooms, as we did. Within 48 hours, my wife and I, managed to cover everything we wanted from this location. Our room was large as was the bathroom, and everything worked.

The room was small but no smaller
The room was small but no smaller than what we were expecting. Everything worked and was very clean. The staff were very helpful whenever we had any queries. The lift was surprisingly small and this would be the only point that may cause some concern - but this proved to be the norm for all of our European stay.
