"Unbeatable location for the price"

Staff was very courteous and helpful. We had a few minor glitches with seeing the sites- but once we turned to the staff- they were able to help us and/or look up info for us on the internet.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Many local shops and restaurants up and down the street. Internet cafe less than a block from main entrance, a grocery store and a couple of smaller stores to pick up extras are within walking distance. (bring extras-AA batteries, wine cork, cheese knife, toiletries with you- they can be kind of pricey) There's a Chinese dinette abt a 1/2 mi south of the hotel, a pizzeria 1/4 mi north of the hotel and a cafe 1/2 mi north of the hotel which we enjoyed. And there is a great fruit stand just outside of the entrance to the hotel.

Simply somewhere to rest our heads

This hotel was book at last minute due to an earlier cancellation. The previous hotel would have been much more central and one more star, so I would say that my view of this hotel is probably a bit biased against it. As somewhere to rest our heads it was fine. Quite small, not hugely clean (but not filthy either). No iron or tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Very powerful shower which was great with plenty of hot water. It is quite far out from the centre however it is literally two doors down from a metro station. If your planning to not spend a huge amount of time in the room e.g. just to sleep, then this hotel will be fine. However, if you are looking for a romantic hotel this is not the one.

A Very Good and Inexpensive Hotel

I thought the Pavilion Losserand was a great place to stay! It's in central Paris, with a cheap Chinese restarant to eat at right next door; the Metro on the corner; a bakery acress the way; and the Post Office down the street. Staff there were very helpful, and the rooms were small but very nice. It was my first trip to Paris, and I couldn't have asked for a better homebase from which to explore the city.

Convenient location, great price

Good hotel for those needing a place to leave their things while running around Paris. Room was small, but we did not spend much time in the room. Plenty of hot water for the shower. Bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly. Great pastry shop right across the street and plenty of restaurants nearby. Metro stop was 100 feet from the hotel, which made sightseeing easy. Able to get to and from the airport and most popular sites very quickly.

decent budget hotel

Overall, the fact that it was by the metro and that the deal we got was far less expensive than their posted prices (295 EU/night) was great. The 9EU breakfast was also fantastic, but by the middle of the trip we just went to the supermarche and bought all of the same things and the boulongerie across the street for fresh baguettes every morning and replicated the same breakfast in our rooms (keeping the meat and cheese and OJ in the minibar) for about 3EU a day total. There was quite a bit of mold in the ceiling of the bathroom. Also, the service was inconsistent during our 7 night stay. The first 3 days we got fresh towels...then it was every other day. I don't mind saving the planet and reusing my towel, but it felt like we were in trouble and were having our towel privileges taken away or something. Also, we accidentally broke one of the water glasses 4 days into the stay and it was never replaced. Every day we just got our one remaining glass washed and replaced on the minibar. Weird. Most of the staff was friendly (mostly the men, not the women) and they did vacuum our room every day (necessary, after all of the baguette-eating in the room every morning). There were safes for use in the lobby and they didn't mind when we came or went. We had to probe to ask about amenities (nothing was explained to us upon checking in (breakfast, safes, etc)). It wasn't close to anything walkable (except pastries and rotisserie chicken...don't try the Chinese restaurant next door!!). But it was steps from the Metro, our lifeblood.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you plan on using the metro, get one of the combo tickets from the stations. There are 1, 3, and 5 day passes. OR, at the larger stations, you can buy a week pass that's good Monday to Sunday (great if you arrive on a Sunday and are leaving the next weekend). It's called Carte Orange, and you have to bring a passport-size photo to get one. Very worth it! You never spend time on your vacation griping about needing to spend 3EU just to go back to the hotel to change your shoes!
