Not Recommended

They gave us a smoking room although we had booked a non-smoking then gave us a twin bed room. The carpet was very dirty and the central heating could not be controlled so we had to open the window that had no screen and we had a bad mosquito problem. They tried to double charge use for a meal we had paid for already and the woman at the front desk all had unprofessional attitudes. I would not recommend this hotel as a 4 star but a 3 star. Also the breakfast was not included although the description on this site said it was.

Terrible Experience

This is a 3 star hotel at best. Room was a smoking room although we specifically asked for a non-smoking room. They gave us a two twin bed room instead. Very dirty carpet, the window had no screen so we had tons of mosquitos and we could not turn off the central heating that got uncomfortably hot throughout the night. The women at the front desk always had attitude and they charged us twice for one meal although we had paid for it at the time with cash. Overall very bad experience and will never use this hotel again.

Mr

Very good hotel with roof pool and great views. The room was cleaned every day and new towels provided every day.lThe only disappointing aspect of this hotel is that we didn't have a kettle in the room to make coffee. The roof bar prices were on the high side compared with the centre of Athens.

Good price and location

Stayed here for a couple of nights, located a few blocks away from the national museum, and few blocks to the closest subway station, in an area that's just outside of the tourist area which made getting to where we wanted to go really easy and convenient. The hotel staff were really nice and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable.

recent vacation

The hotel was fine and the staff was very nice. The rooftop pool area was particularly enjoyable. Wireless service was odd, free in some places on the property but not in your room and the location of the hotel is not in a great area unfortunately. The best thing about the location was its proximity to the subway but it was not an area where I felt comfortable walking after dark.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

buying the week long subway pass was the best thing we did. Easy to use and saved a lot of time and trouble when going to visit different areas of the city.

Won't be back!

First off, they have two twin beds pushed together to make one bed. You would think with two adults checking in, they would provide a room with one queen size bed. to make matters worth, the twin beds were not secured, so they woud separate when we got in them. There was no clock, the room was very small, and they did not provide any hand towels. The primary reason I chose this hotel is because it was located close to where my fiance lived. Next time I go to Athens, I will spend more money to get a quality hotel

Average to good hotel in a complex neighbourhood

Easy access from the airport by metro, three blocks from metro station. Don't walk the area after sunset with your luggage. Plenty of junkies and pick pockets. Some anti-riot police during the day. Check in OK. Room internet at extra charge. Room OK but small, bathroom nice and good size, towels just so so. For a change (I think this is becoming a standard in many hotels) at check out they wanted to charge me for mini bar that I never even open. Breakfast was good and service excellent at the restaurant. Hotel is walking distance to many attractions including the Acropolis, Parliament, Ancient Olympic Stadium and so on.

Great hotel, close to many tourist spots

We stayed at the Melia Athens for five nights, and we were very pleased with the hotel. The room was very nice, comfortable, clean and modern. The bathroom was spacious with an excellent shower and tub. The staff is extremely kind and helpful...better than in any hotel I have ever stayed!!! It is very close to the archeological museum and the neighborhood around Strefi Hill, the University and Parliament, and only a short walk to the "downtown" Plaka and Monastiraki neighborhoods. The only minor downside to this hotel is that the area directly around it is maybe slightly unseemly, but it didn't feel unsafe.

Great hotel,

I got a offer for this hotel. The deluxe room are great. Clean, large and the bed was comfortable. The only thing missing from the room was a kettle. Location not great, but i had no problems. About 15 mins walk to city centre. Staff were friendly and helpful.
