Spectacular view

This is a fantastic location - 1 block from the beautiful shopping district - 1 block from the Chain bridge. We were able to walk everywhere. The nightime panoramic view of the Danube and the castle was breathtaking. The hotel room was spacious and clean and the staff was unbelievably helpful and service-oriented. This will definitely be our destination hotel on our next visit. The only negative was the price of cocktails at the hotel bar - a steep 25 US dollars for one Vodka Tonic. While we understood that we were in a "high end" tourist area, We thought that price tag was excessive for a drink outside at the bar.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Driving in Budapest is a nightmare, so staying in this location and being able to step outside and walk across the bridge to the castle or walk around the block to VACI Utca shopping was key to a happy group of travelers. You see the very best of Budapest.

Location, location, location........

My daughter and I stayed at this wonderful hotel on a fly/drive trip through Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. Our room was on an upper floor with a fantastic river view. Our room and bath were very spacious and immaculate For Europe, this is definitely a five star hotel. The staff are incredibly helpful, friendly and do everything possible to make you feel welcome. My daughter's luggage missed our flight and concierge made phone calls and followed up until it arrived (all without our asking). Amazing! The staff were extremely helpful in assisting us with public transportation cards and explaining how it worked and where we could access it. Everyone is extremely accommodating. I cannot compliment and thank the staff enough. They truly enhanced our stay. I hope to go back again. Budapest is a fantastic city in every way.

Great value

Located right at the river near the Chain Bridge, the Intercontinenal was easy to find and close to the main shopping and within walking distance of several sights. Spa is available but we did not use it nor the restaurant.

Great deal in the middle of Budapest

After searching around online, this hotel was about the best deal in the middle of Budapest. Other places in the middle of the city were either more expensive or were cheap dives. The Intercontinental is right on the Danube, and half the rooms have spectacular river views, although it cost us 25 euros to upgrade to a river view room. The hotel located right in the heart of the city and is a few minutes walk from the major public transport hubs (bus and subway). It was also convenient for us as we were catching a river cruise, and we watched our cruise ship dock on the other side of the river from the hotel from our room, leaving no doubts about where we need to be to embark. The hotel also has taxis coming to the front door all the time. I heard they have a great breakfast buffet as well but we didn't try it.

Hild Etterem (Hild restaurant) located at Október 6 utca, 3 is a great, simple, traditional Hungarian restaurant in Central Pest. It is frequented by locals and has a history of over 70 years that spans the pre and post Communism period. Very good value for around $20 USD per person including 3 courses and drinks. Location, Location, Location

You couldn't find a hotel in a better location, unless had a room in the middle of Chain Bridge. The hotel is within walking distance of Parliament, St. Stephen's, the Chain Bridge, and Castle Hill. I had a room overlooking the street, but I suppose if you want to pay a few more forints, you can get a view of the Danube. The room was comfortable, and the staff was very helpful.

Room with Quite a View

English speaking front desk and concierge staff very informed and helpful. Hotel room was immaculate and had all amenities. The bed was very comfortable. It had a feather bed topper and 2 down pillows. This was very important on account of all the walking we did. The location of the Intercontinental is perfect for the traveller who likes to take in the sights and sounds of a vibrant historic city by foot. On one occasion we used the city tram which was steps away from the hotel. We loved Budapest and in six busy days there we explored the attractions including the ballet and a concert at the brand new Bela Bartok performance centre.
