Area description
Cork City Centre - just minutes from Cork Opera House and Cork's best shopping area Opera Lane. Also located beside the Shandon Bells, Cork Butter Museum and the Firkin Crane Theatre. Cork's busy International Airport makes the city the ideal location for trade and tourism. The friendliness and warmth of the people is infectious as you move through the streets. Really enjoyable break

Comfortable room, friendly staff, excellent service. Great location just on the edge of the main town and linked with the bus and train stations. Really good service. Couldn't have asked for more.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

It's just a short walk into the main town of Cork which has a main high st but if you explore some of the narrow streets that cut through the main town you will discover lots of pub restaurants etc as well as little gift shops and markets, I can't wait to go back to discover more!

My husband & I had a nice stay here. The rooms were spacious and a large comfy bed. The hotel was close to downtown & walking distance to restaurants & pubs. The hotel staff was kind & helpful.

Good location for Cork

The staff wasn't very helpful. polite, but not very friendly. Our bed was ok, but small and the shower would change temperatures every few seconds.

Maldron Hotel Cork

Parking in limited to about 15 cars, you will have to park on the street or in a garage near the hotel, both which the hotel does not pay for.

Would not recommend

This hotel was difficult to find until we saw a tiny sign pointing us the right direction. The parking lot of the hotel is a free for all and very tight. At check in the staff was not very friendly. The hotel smells like smoke when you walk in. The elevators did not feel super safe and were very rickety. The carpet in our room was a light color and did not look clean at all. We had an okay view and it was a somewhat short walk to the heart of things so those were the only two positive things I can say.

Bodega - This place has a great atmosphere. There was a band playing outside when we went called Roaring 20's which brought quite the crowd and they were fun. We ate and drank inside. The staff wasn't anything over the top but the food was good as was the drink. There were local brews that the one waiter recommended which were quite good. The inside is like a 1920's style parlor/dance hall. Candles on the tables, big leather chairs, chandeliers, etc. Good fun.

A Quick Getaway

We chose to go somewhere that was within our budget and would give us a health spa and a restaurant - we felt like we needed pampering. We found the hotel staff very friendly indeed, there was always a smile to be had in the restaurant or the reception area in particular, and my young son was always given special attention. There was a list of kids' activities posted in reception (we didn't try any, though!) The hotel is very central and quite easy to find - maybe ten minutes walk from Patrick Street and central shopping etc. within Cork. About the only thing I wasn't happy with was the parking situation. The hotel's car park is tiny and hard to turn in which could lead to bumps and scratches if you left your car there. The alternative is pay-for on-street parking in what my Cork-native friends tell me is a not-great area.

Good

Overall a good hotel, haven't tried the restaurant nor the pool though. room was clean enough, bed not too comfortable, but still ok. room and bathroom were quite big with chairs, table, desk and tv, even iron with ironing board. I would recommend it, in a few minutes you get to the city centre and it is also not too far from the train station and bus station.

Excellent hotel with homely feel and great location

The hotel is located in a excellent place very close to the city, although I have to agree with others about the parking as it can be a squeeze although we found a spot all three days of our trip. Rooms are good, bar is good and reasonably priced for both food and drinks and all staff were happy to help. Would definately reccommend this hotel for anyone staying in Cork.
