Lovely Hotel, Lovely Staff, Clean Rooms, Great Central location
Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Montenotte Hotel, with my mum and 2 sisters. We had a lovely stay in Room 212, very clean room, with tea&coffee making facilities, iron, lovely decor, and most of all the location, was only 5 mins from the city centre!! Had a great stay, my sisters enjoyed using the pool and spa in the hotel, would recommend, and also thank you to Bernie, who made our stay very welcome :-) We will hopefully see you in the not so distant future ;-)

You must visit Pennies, and also the Blarney Castle! Costs about 10 euros to get entry & kiss the stone ;-)

NIce hotel, average room
The hotel is quite far out of town, up a steep hill. It only takes about 12 minutes to walk down into town but we got taxis back up the hill! The bedroom itself was a good size and clean, however there was a patch of duct tape that had been used to cover up a patch on the floor which seemed bad for a 4 star hotel. The bath also seemed quite dirty and looked like it could've done with a good scrub. Shower wasn't brilliant either. The spa facilities are nice, though it was a shame the steam room was out of order when we were there. All this being said, the hotel is a nice place to go for a relaxing getaway. They do a good value and good quality carvery on Sundays and the view from the bar is beautiful.

Nice place
The hotel is fantastic. Our room is clean, well-decorated, and very lovely. The staffs are very friendly. The restaurant in the hotel looks very nice, but it's a pity that we didn't try. If you have a car, there's plenty of parking space. The swimming pool and fitness are very good. However, the hotel is on a hill, around 10-15 minutes walk down the hill to city center, including train and bus station. We've never walked up, so we have no idea how long it will take. The taxi from city center cost less than 10 euro to go back to the hotel.

Hotel on a Hill
The staff was friendly and professional. They assisted us in finding prime tourist locations and were always smiling. The restaurant manager was especially friendly! It was a good experience, though the walk up the hill after a long day of walking is probably not ideal for people who aren't in great shape. Also, it would be a long walk if you were to stay in Cork visiting pubs on Saturday night. However, there are cabs for about 10 euros to get to and from the hotel if you don't want to walk. All in all, good experience and I would stay there again.

Charges 5 Euro per day for Internet
Charges 5 Euro per day for Internet access when other hotels at this rate do not - summed up the hotel really. One senior and yet ignorant receptionist avoided answering any questions frankly which was irritating! Room stank of cigarette smoke.
