First Ireland trip

Would not recommend Wed 30 Sep 2015
We stayed at the Hilton Dublin for our last night in Ireland. Compared to other hotels that we stayed throughout Ireland, this hotel was average. The biggest positive is the proximity to city center. it was an easy 10 minutes walk to downtown. The neighborhood was a little scary at night. The room was very clean. The biggest negative was the noise from the train located next to the hotel. The toilet was broken. The toilet seat was broken. We had to be very careful seating down. Overal the hotel was a clean, average hotel. If you're looking to be in downtown Dublin but don't want to pay the premium like the Westburry, Westin, or the Fitzpatrick, this hotel is a decent alternative. It's not bad but it's not memorable.

Decent Place to Stay in Dublin with Some Caveats

Would recommend Thu 24 Sep 2015
The Hilton Dublin is situated reasonably close to areas that tourists will likely want to visit but there is little very close to the hotel. I could have walked to some areas of interest but I didn't want to take 30 minutes to walk, so I took taxis everywhere I went. That wasn't a problem for me but it may be to some people. The building and facilities seem a bit old but they are very clean and appear to be well maintained. The bed in my room was comfortable and the hotel has some nice amenities such as cookies and pastries set out near the elevators. The staff was excellent. When I asked for more towels one night, there was a person at my door within 5 minutes with the towels. That doesn't happen very often even at very high-end hotels. My only complaint is that the thermostat shut off in the middle of the night and the room kept getting hot. I suspect that this is an energy-saving feature that may be triggered by movement in the room. Apparently, there wasn't enough movement while I was sleeping to keep my settings so the temperature setting didn't hold and the room heated up. It drove me nuts...but I was way too busy to even let the hotel know about it. The hotel at which I stayed in Galway (different brand of hotel not related to Hilton hotels) had the same problem. I have never experienced this anywhere else and I was 2 for 2 with it in my first 2 hotel stays in Ireland. Is this some kind of regulation in Ireland? The bottom line is that I enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Dublin. I am not 100 I would stay there again but I would definitely consider it.

Weekend in Dublin

Very pleasant stay at the Hilton. A little away from the city centre but it only took 15 minutes to walk and there are bikes to hire just outside. Very quiet. Extremely helpful staff.

Unable to sleep due to noise

Would not recommend Tue 26 May 2015
We got no sleep on the Saturday night .. due to noise coming from the room next door. We checked out on the Sunday morning feeling tired and very disappointed with our stay. The main reason we booked the Hilton Hotel was to get a night's sleep. We recorded this complaint but have not heard from the hotel since despite they having our Home Address, Mobile and Landline Telephone Numbers and email address. This unfortunately rates Overall Experience,Staff, Value for money and room comfort as not good and we will not be recommending or returning.(An explanation/apology might have changed this).

Pretty location

Would recommend Wed 25 Jun 2014
Aesthetically appealing with pricey amenities. 5 euro internet was worthless and didn't want to pay 15 euro for better internet so I went to the lobby for free internet regularly. We were on the first floor right above a conference room on the weekend, which meant loud music and DJing every night until well after midnight. It is a ~15 min walk away from Grafton & Temple Bar but a pretty walk through St. Stephens Green, with plenty of shopping and eating nearby that is less touristy. Right next to the Luas light rail, which we could also hear but it wasn't too loud.

uninspiring

Would not recommend Tue 1 Apr 2014
wont make the mistake of staying in a Hilton again when traveling abroad. 2nd time, and i found the experience to sub par on both occaisions. staff was great, which was pretty much parallel to the entire experience of Dublin. great city with incredible people. the hotel, on the other hand, disappointing. food in restaurant was marginal and overpriced. bed was uncomfortable, bathroom sink drained poorly. shower water pressure bad. tv channel offerings were dreadful and with poor reception. didnt spend much time in the room, but still the experience was not worthy of anything better than 2 stars out of 5. when we return to Dublin, will stay in a place the far better captures the local allure of Ireland, and may avoid HIlton's domestically from this point forward as well. unimpressive.

Comfortable,clean and welcoming

Would recommend Tue 6 Aug 2013
We spent two nights in this hotel... the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable... good pillows and soft towels. The breakfast buffet provided a wide choice. The hotel was located conveniently to access the town centre and attractions... but was in a peaceful area.

Dining

Matt the Thresher - Pembroke Street....we stumbled across this whilst waiting for the Hop on Hop off bus. stop 6a.. lovely seafood restaurant.

excellent place to stay

Would recommend Tue 5 Jun 2012
If you want to avoid the "down town" feeling, but have easy access to it, this is a very good place. It is a short tram ride to one of the city centers for shoping and sights. The tram is just a few steps across the road from the front of Hotel. With a very hopping pub about a block away on the water. The pub does not affect the hotel in any way. Very nice selection

Time saver

to the tram but you will need about 2 euros in coin to ge on the tram.
