Great little boutique hotel

Right next to the Teatro Dell'Opera and only a few minutes walkto Termini train station, this little boutique hotel is a very good value for the money. The location is not very busy, and access to many attractions are nearby. Will definitely stay there again.

Affordable hotel near train station

Nice hotel near train station (about 5 - 10 minute walk). Metro was down while we were there, but hotel was about 20 minutes walking from most attractions (Colosseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain...). Reasonably priced and had a nice European style breakfast buffet. Small room, but nice. Air conditioner cooled the room pretty quickly. Biggest complaint was about the shower, it would constantly change temperatures pretty drastically. Would be a normal temperature, then get ice cold and then burning hot. Once you figured out the schedule, though, it was manageable. Helpful staff. Not a lot of authentic Italian in the immediate area, but found that was the case in most areas of Rome. Would recommend staying at this hotel.

kari rome trip

This hotel is right next to the opera house. Only 5-6 blocks from the train/bus terminal. You need a map to figure out the streets. In a perfect location to do sight seeing. within walking distance to get on the double decker bus tours or catch a bus to the airport or another location. Plenty of eating places and shops. Quiet enough street at night and not affraid to go out late in that area. Too far to walk to the Vatican-get a double decker bus tour ticket good for 1,2,3, days and hop on and off at the sites that way. Most staff speaks English so they can give advise. One flight of stairs to get to main lobby but elevator to take you to room

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

You order water, bread, salad, and main dishes all separately. They charge for bottled water but it's worth it. There's a bunch of nice restaurants to eat at around the hotel or shops to just grab a sandwich and drink and sit outside and people watch. Coffee shops and Geleto stores open late on the same street as hotel. Very nice location.

Loved the Lirico!

We recently spent three nights at the Hotel Lirico and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We were a family of three sharing one room, and found the room to be large enough that we weren't on top of one another, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff provided answers to all of our questions and when the hotel tv system went out, they got it working within a short time and even came up to our room to make sure it was working properly. We liked the proximity of the hotel to public transportation and the staff helped us learn how to navigate the city's bus, subway and tram system to get to wherever we needed. We also walked extensively around the neighborhood which we enjoyed.

Very nice hotel.

This hotel is located next to the Opera house about four blocks to the Termini train station. We found that this location is very centrally located and makes it very easy to access the cities metro system. It never seemed very crowded with tourists like other parts of the city and we liked that very much. We checked into the hotel quickly and went up to our room. The room was very nice with a Queen size bed, a couch, and a good size bathroom. The bathroom was larger than we expected and there was plenty of hot water and water pressure was excellent. Our room was on the side of the hotel and we had a wonderful view of the Opera house - this was very unexpected and very nice. The staff at this hotel were friendly and the continental breakfast was excellent. The croissants and baked goods were incredibly good and the breakfast room attendants were friendly and efficient. I would stay here again just for the croissants and pastries -THEY WERE THAT GOOD! As far as cleanliness goes, you couldn't ask for a cleaner hotel. Our room was spotless when we arrived and the hotel cleaning staff kept it that way for our entire stay. The only thing that bugged me was that to use the safe in our room there was an extra charge of 2.50 Euro a day. I thought that was a little tacky. Also, the lobby of the hotel is up a flight of stairs and while that was not a problem for us, it could be for someone with mobility issues or a lot of luggage.

Great location, better staff

The hotel is just a short walk from the Termini train station, which was wonderful after the impossibly long flight to Rome from Chicago and the 45 minute train ride downtown from the airport. We were exhausted, but were welcomed with open arms by Tony. He showed us a nice spot close by to grab some dinner before crashing for the night. He, and all the other staff members, were incredibly helpful and friendly throughout our 2 week stay. They have a lovely breakfast spread every morning, which was perfect for getting a quick bite before heading out to sightsee. The location is great too. You can get just about anywhere (either on a bus, metro, or walking) within 20 minutes, but aren't overcrowded like some of the more touristy parts of town. A few words of warning, the rooms were a bit on the small side and their version of a double bed is just two twin beds made separately and pushed together. But all in all, I am incredibly happy with out experience at Hotel Lirico.

Great Place, Great Location!!

The staff was really friendly, the breakfast selection was actually pretty good, and the location was excellent. In fact, we were able to walk to all of the big sights from the hotel. (And if you don't like to walk much or are short on time, the hotel is really close to the Termini train station and thus just next to all train, metro, and bus options in the city). Our only complaint was that the pillows were very hard and the showers were a little small. Otherwise, this hotel was GREAT!!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There is an Irish Pub just down the street from the hotel (called something like Flann the O'Brien) and despite being rated highly in several of our guidebooks, the food and service was not that great and the prices were too expensive for the quality of the food. (However, the crowd was, as mentioned in our guidebooks, very Italian so it would be a good place for drinks and mingling with locals--just don't waste your time and money eating here).
