Retired couple getaway

Our cruise ended in Japan and we chose Tokyo to spend the 6 days to absorb the Japanese culture. The hotel is located in Toshima (at least 25 Minutes from downtown Tokyo) and close to the underground that was super easy to use. It offers a 30% discount if you stay for 5 days or longer and we found the the pricing reasonable. We took a super delux room with a beautiful view on mt Fuji. The room however was small (as can be expected in Japan) but comfortable. The hotel complies to its 4 star rating and is clean and the personnel very friendly and helpfull. There is an airport shuttle bus available from the hotel at US30. We enjoyed our stay and will use it again. Kobus and Anette from South Africa

excellent hotel and perfect location

Hotel was neat, clean, and sophisticated. Staff was excellent. Room is small by American standards, but I'd bet not by Tokyo standards. My wife and I were comfortable, and only bumped into each other occasionally. Didn't eat at the hotel, because Tokyo has SO many food options that begin right outside the door. Check out 7-11. (I'm not kidding!) Ikebukuro station is right out the door, and therefore so is all of Tokyo. Perfect locale.

Don't be afraid to ask anyone in Tokyo for help with directions or anything else. Nicest and most helpful people I've ever encountered. People go out of their way to help. One girl actually left her post at the store at which she worked to walk us down the block to show us where a tore we were looking for was.

Excellent accomodation

Great value for a 4-star hotel. Very expansive buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner--both Western and Japanese cuisine! Very friendly, helpful, attentive, and polite staff. New room with fully-equipped with amenities. Single room quite small, but it was new and had everything I needed to be perfectly comfortable. Conveniently located to Ikeburkuro station. Stay here!

Ideal hotel for business travel

The Hotel Metropolitan is conveniently located next to Ikebukuro Station which is serviced by the JR Yamanote Line and the Marunouchi, Yurakucho and Fukatoshin Metro lines. It is also serviced by the Limousine Bus to and from Narita Airport. The room that I had reserved was a standard single at an area of 17 square meters. At check-in, the clerk offered to upgrade the room to one of 23 square meters area for an additional charge. He also offered in-room wireless service for 500 JPY for the stay. I passed on both offers which seemed reasonable. There was free in-room internet service provided via Ethernet cable the speed of which was adequate. The room was typical in size to most single Japanese hotel rooms with limited but sufficient closet space; however I found the bath to be generally larger than those found in most Japanese hotels having a full-sized bath tub instead of the more usual compact style. The bed was quite comfortable and the linens fresh and clean. The only complaint I have about the room is that, after having requested a non-smoking room, I found the faint smell of cigarette smoke to be present. The hotel staff was helpful and polite. The lobby was large, bright and clean. The hotel restaurants, as is typical, were fairly expensive. The Cross Dining restaurant in the lobby is not overly expensive for the quality of the food, however. There are many restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel that have good food and are more reasonably priced. On future visits to Tokyo, I would definitely consider this as a primary choice particularly if staying in the Ikebukuro area.

Highly recommend !

The lobby, the face of a hotel, is big and comfortable with a lot of careful attention from the staff who are polite and yet friendly. The room is rather small if you are used to an American hotels, but it is very clean. A pair of slippers and a lounge wear are provided. Bathroom amenities are almost standard but I missed hand lotion. The location is perfect, just a few steps to Ikebukuro Station. I visit Tokyo twice a year and I will definitely stay at Metropolitan Ikebukuro from now on!!
