It really DOESN'T get any better

We can't say enough good things about this hotel. We decided to treat ourselves on our last night in Japan with a stay at the Peninsula. What a great idea that turned out to be. Yes, it's pricey, but it's honestly worth every penny. It's everything and more that you would expect from a 5-star hotel. Even though we had booked a "Deluxe King Room", which is one of the more "basic" rooms, so to speak, we were lucky enough to be given a room on the 23rd floor -- the top floor of the hotel, with spectacular views of Tokyo. The customer service was phenomenal. The efficiency with which everything was done was mind-boggling. And the room itself was pure heaven. Remote controls on the walls, in every room, that controlled virtually EVERYTHING. After our stay at the Peninsula Tokyo, we vowed to do a one night stay each year at a Peninsula Hotel somewhere in the world.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

If you want a true Kobe beef experience, eating REAL Kobe beef, then you should take the 5 minute walk from the Peninsula to Kawamura restaurant (steak house). Just have the hotel make the reservation for you (unbeknownst to us, this got us a complimentary beverage).

Perfect Balance of Mind, Body & Spirit

After arriving into the dizzying capital of Japan after a long international flight, I was swept off my feet from the moment the revolving doors ushered me into gorgeous Lobby of the Peninsula Tokyo. For those familiar with the Hong Kong-based Peninsula brand, The Lobby in Tokyo is the crossroads of travel where people meet, dine and relax. You are just steps from both the Ginza and the Imperial Palace. But why leave! The rooms are among the most spacious in all of Japan and the Pool and Spa by ESPA are the ideal sanctuary to find that gentle balance of mind, body and spirit. Once relaxed after my flight I was pleasantly elevated to another state of consciousness when confronted with my dining choices from the Deli in the basement to the Michelin-rated Peter atop the hotel. What truly makes the Peninsula the destination of choice is the world-class staff from the Concierge staff to housekeeping. Extraordinary on all levels.

Dining tip: In Hotel

After a long day of exploring the great city of Tokyo, I love to stop in at the Deli in the basement of the Peninsula to pick up some of the most delicious salads, sandwiches and desserts to enjoy in my room as I enjoy the spectacular views of downtown Tokyo and the Imperial Palace. The chef's creations are magical, delicious and cost effective.

Modern luxury with pool, spa.

I don't usually care for the luxuries of a 5 star hotel, but we were here for the Tokyo marathon, and this place had an indoor jacuzzi and was close to the finish line. That said, the service was top notch - I checked in early and they phoned me when my room was ready (way before check-in), then upgraded me from superior to deluxe, then gave me a tour of the room, and even made me tea. The room was enormous by any standard (especially for Tokyo). Our friends in the city were wowed that were staying there, and the staff was just amazing (we had some little kids visit and staff pushed our stroller, held elevators, etc. to make it all easier). I really enjoyed seeing visitors in our room, and would book something like this for that purpose. That said, there were a few things I thought could use improving: my bath towel was abrasive, I couldn't find temperature control in my room, and the electronic light controls could be annoying (constantly turning on/off individual lights). Still, well worth it - coup de grace was the swimsear for guests for use in the pools and the fresh fruit in the fitness room.

Great Hotel but everythng is overpriced.

Great hotel. Very high tech but also luxurious. Great location also. I liked everything about the hotel except the price. I don't mean the price of the room, I mean the price of the food and beverage, etc. $12.00 for a cup of tea is a little excessive. Bring your wallet.

The Peninsula Hotel Tokyo is probably

The Peninsula Hotel Tokyo is probably the best hotel I have stayed in, in the world, and I travel extensively. It was perfect in every way. The staff, the room, the location, the facilities were all 6 star! Very expensive is the only problem with it but I guess it falls into the ' you get what you pay for' category. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Tokyo.
