Rooms
Crisp lines, striking sun-shaped mirrors and two-tone wood furniture capture a modern feel in Villa Del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa Los Cabos. Plum-colored coverlets and throw pillows contrast well with plush white comforters, while espresso-trimmed cabinets pair with blond wood drawers. A collection of 460 suites accommodates groups of multiple sizes with welcome extras like sofa beds, entertainment centers, breakfast bars and patios or terraces overlooking the water.
Dining
Traditional Mexican dishes mingle with Italian fare at Las Tortugas, whose themed buffets, folk dancing and casino nights add to the ambiance. The eatery shows off sparkling tiered pools from both indoor and outdoor dining rooms. Bella California dishes up California and Italian alongside views of the Sea of Cortez. For grab-and-go meals at Villa Del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa Los Cabos, Palmita Deli and Palmita market provide fuel in the form of sandwiches, salads and pizza.
Recreation
Lush palm trees dot the Villa Del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa Los Cabos grounds near the expansive outdoor pool, whose showpiece is Willy the Whale, a giant water slide that has been completely refinished with litmus stones. Elsewhere on the property, guests can enjoy facials, massages and hydrotherapy treatments at Desert Spa or join fellow guests for water aerobics, volleyball and bingo. A supervised kids club engages the tykes while parents unwind on the flagstone pool deck or stroll 20 minutes to downtown Los Cabos.

Great Hotel, Exceptionally Terrible Staff

From when we arrived at Villa del Palmar, I knew I was in for a trip. Initially, at check in, we were told it would be a $200 security deposit on the room because we were paying with a debit card instead of credit. Then, the lady at the front desk completely changer her story and then said it would be $500 instead of the original $200. Then, when asked why she had originally said $200, she refuted the idea that she had ever said $200 and that it had always been $500. Our check in was behind us and we were off to the room. We had a great location and they did accommodate us to allows us to stay on the same floor as a few of our friends. The rooms were nice enough, not enough outlets though. Our A/C worked when it felt like it, sometimes we would wake up and it would be 60 degrees in the room, and other times we would wake up and it was sweltering hot. Room service was also a hit or miss. One time, we were looking for a lighter or matches and when we called room service they told us to find it ourselves at a bar, even though all the bars in their own hotel were closed. Great customer service! At checkout, I was told the refund to my account for the security deposit, minus the room service charges, would take 5-7 days to show up in my account due to the whole international transfer. I waited 9 days without seeing anything in my account before using the email provided when I checked out to contact the hotel. I did not receive a reply for over 24 hours so I sent two more emails and decided to try my luck at calling someone. After calling the Villa Group toll-free number, I got transferred to Villa del Palmar's front desk. The person I spoke to there seemed unable to even find anything out about my account. She then asked me if she could call back in 5 to 10 minutes after she talked to her manager. I waited 45 minutes before calling back. I then talked to a different person who was then also unable to give me any real reason as to why I still hadn't seen my money. I was then told the same thing, this time to wait 10 minutes. I did not receive a phone call for two hours, but, much to my amazement I was pleasantly surprised when the man on the other end of the phone told me he received a call from his boss, and my money was on its way and it would take an additional 5-7 days. Yesterday I finally received my refund, but to my dismay it was over $100 short of what I was expecting. I've called again today and after being hung up on twice I was finally able to talk to someone and find out that they charged me extra to clean blood off the sheets. It only took two hours of my time and numerous phone calls to find out something they should of sent me earlier. If we all do a Cabo trip again next spring break, I will be sure to avoid all of the Villa hotels and hopefully steer my friends away from choosing Villa del Palmar. Try you luck elsewhere!

Wonderful getaway

My husband and I took this trip and met up with other friends, all of us experiencing Cabo for the first time together. The other couple was at another hotel, a higher-end chain, and actually preferred our hotel. Easy check-in, curteous and helpful staff, room was great, food was great, pools were wonderful, and the beach was lovely. We DID partake in the timeshare presentation at Villa Del Arco, sister property 2 doors down, which we were upfront about NOT buying into and at one point, I wasn't happy with the sales technique...but it's sales so you have to expect that. However, we got a bunch of perks out of it. We visited the arch, a MUST see, walked through town mutliple times, etc. Taxis incredibly clean and nice - even to the point of finding and returning a personal item accidentally left behind the same night. My husband and I have already decided that if we go back to Cabo, a good possibility, we would definitely look at Palmar again, great experience.

If you go to Cabo, go see the Arch. A beautiful sight, and being able to walk the sand between the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean is an amazing thing.

Nice for Price

The hotel is average for any "resort/beach" area. Good amenities, very nice staff, great view of ocean, clean #but older#, over all a decent value. Things I didn't like, no bar you can sit at out side to socialize #a bar but not to sit at# and only serves pizza in the evenings, and no swim up bar. It is only a 15-20 minute walk into town but not a nice walk, I never felt unsafe by any means but I can see where some people could.

Villa Del Palmar

The room had a musty smell when the air conditioning was on. Good work out facilities and tennis courts. Great beach, good restaurants. 20 minute walk to town not well lighted. Could, however take taxi or public bus.

Great Location

The resort offers just about everything someone would want on a beach vacation. Beautiful beach and tons of activities. Very good restaurants on site and a taxi ride away from town where many additional restaurants can be found. The resort falls short of a 5 star rating for several things, mostly minor which wouldn't ruin a vacation.

Disappointing family vacation

mold smell in the rooms. situation improved when we moved to upper floor. Two rather small pools, the bigger was closed for renovation half way through our stay! Hotel staff - not too welcoming. not very responsive to our requests. beach - easy access from the hotel, but not welcoming for young kids. Nicer beach for family further from the hotel.

Great Family Trip with a few issues

After visiting and greatly enjoying Villa Del Arco at Cabo in March 2013 we decided to take our kids and grandkids there for a vacation. Del Arco was unable to accommodate us so we booked at Villa Del Palmar. While we had a wonderful time, Palmar is not up to the level of Arco. Arco’s reciprocal all inclusive dining option with Palmar was not allowed from Palmar to Arco. This limited dining options greatly. Palmar has the Bella California restaurant which was quite good, but was the same menu every night - a bit tiring after a week. The other options are a nightly buffet - which was okay at best - and a sports bar with a very limited menu. Food service: Fair to good. At Bella it was professional, and ran from timely to quite slow. Trying to get a drink refill (even iced tea) took an extremely long time and many times we just gave up and left. By the way, even though we were “all inclusive” which they state includes tips, we tipped quite a bit more. Good news or bad news: it almost always took a long time to get your bill to sign after you were done with your meal. At the Sports Bar service was poor. At one lunch there were 3 tables of people waiting for service. Not one server came to any of us to see what we would like. After about 15 minutes we went and found someone to come take our orders. Drink service: Dismal. I believe that part of the problem is that they don’t have enough staff. The pool we used usually only had one server. Catching their eye to order was an ordeal and it took an extremely long time to receive whatever you ordered. I hate to think this was on purpose but I wondered if service for all inclusive guests was purposefully slow to limit your consumption of food and beverage. Accomodations: Excellent. A huge thank you to Oscar at the check in desk. Upon check in we had 5 rooms that were scattered around the resort. When he realized that we were a family, he offered us 2 suites in place of these rooms that were much, much better. Our maid service (Eunise) was also excellent. Ambiance: Palmar seemed to have a younger crowd than Arco. As such, it was quite a bit more active and loud. Every afternoon there were games at the pool with a mega decibel loudspeaker blasting a whistle and chanting things such as “belly flop belly flop belly flop”. If you’re into that, you’ll love it. If you’re not… They also advertised an all adult pool and in fact had signs indicating such. Unfortunately, these signs were ignored by children (and their parents) and there was no effort by the staff to request children to move to the family pools. This made all the pools chaotic. Customer Service: Excellent. The staff was very accommodating and helped us with any of our needs (trips to town, activities, etc) Overall the visit was good. But if you’re looking for a bit more upscale and quieter stay, I would recommend Del Arco.

My stay at the villa del palmar

From the minute we checked in we were greeted with Courteous and helpful staff. We were given a free room upgrade which put our room directly in front of the beach not 50 feet away . AMAZING!! Our flight landed late so we arrived at the hotel at around 1:00am And because of the 24 hour room service we were able to order room service at 2:00 am and the food was incredible!! The rooms are great and the beds are really comfortable. I would absolutely stay here again and again.
