Fabulous Location, Friendly Staff, Great Food Choices

The Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa has what we feel is the best location in Cancun. Between its two gorgeous, private beaches located on two sides of the northern tip of the Cancun peninsula guests benefit from more sunshine than other more expensive resorts nearby. The added attractions of a picturesque lighthouse, a breakwater with iguanas happily sunning themselves and dolphins playing in the lagoon, all right at the resort, provided many opportunities for great photos and entertainment without leaving the resort. The staff were all extremely friendly, polite and helpful. We took the advice of others and took a bunch of $1. US bills with us to tip the staff and they were very appreciative even though service is included. We were very impressed with the selection and quality of the food in all the restaurants and feel that, for the price, they really do cater to a wide variety of food preferences. We definitely recommend this resort for couples and families alike. During our 1 week stay there was always something enjoyable to do without the hassle of trying to get somewhere else and back for meals and entertainment. All in all this was one of our most relaxing vacations ever!

Great Hotel!

This was our first visit to Cancun and we were very impressed with the hotel. Immediately we were greeted by staff with champagne and a cold, moist towel. We weren't sure if we were going to be missing out by purchasing a partial-ocean view room instead of the full, but it were definitely happy when we saw our view. Every morning we had coffee on our balcony and we watched the dolphin & their trainers run through their daily routines. Plus we were able to watch everything else that was going on in the lagoon, pool, bar & courtyard areas. The food was excellent and I highly recommend getting an omelet at the World Cafe. Overall, the Oceana restaurant was our favorite and the seafood was fantastic even though my wife was allergic to some of it. Although it's not necessary I do recommend tipping the waiters and bartenders. They will recognize who you are and we felt we received better service because of it. We didn't know it until we arrived, but we found out that there were unlimited green fees at the Cancun Golf Club. So if you enjoy golfing you may want to bring your clubs. We received room service 2 times per day and the hotel was always very clean. Get to know the person that fills your cooler and you can have him replace pop with beer (or vice versa). I can't vouch for any of the additional trips they offer, but we had a wonderful time relaxing on the beach & drinking an assortment of mixed drinks. We were there just before and during Memorial Day weekend. There were very few people there initially, but by the end of the week it was packed. So you may want to plan around a holiday weekend. Overall, we highly recommend it and next time we visit we'll be bringing some friends!

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Skip the sidewalk vendors in the Dreams Hotel and walk downtown to the market. You can find the same artwork, pictures, ect. for cheaper prices.

very friendly staff, close to night clubs.

The entertaiment staff was very good at organizing event during the day. Volley Ball was a hit. At night they would be available to escort you to the clubs, get you in without waiting on line, and secure a private table. The Hotel was well kept for its age. The specialty restaurants did not need reservations. Jet ski were available on the beach for $50/40 minutes. This all inclusive was good value for the buck. Bathroom shower heads in the room were old and sprayed a funny foggy mist instead of small streams of water. We had a garden view room with walkout patio, that actually was oceanfront.

A Dream Come True

I have already recommended Dreams to my friends and family! I hope to return in the near future! The staff is soo wonderful and attentive, and the service was top notch! We were very impressed with everything! Dreams is also centrally located to lots of clubs (you must go to Coco Bongo!!!) and other tourist hot spots! The food at the hotel was also very delicious, and the beaches were so relaxing! It was just a treat to lay out on the beach and enjoy an ice cold cocktail! The Dreams event staff was great, they put on great themed dinners and shows every night. We'd never done all-inclusive before, and I now know that it feels like royalty! I'd recommend all-inclusive especially since food and drinks are pricey in Cancun! If you stay at Dreams, I am sure you have a wonderful experience! :)

We loved Dreams!

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a week at Dreams. Overall, we couldnt have been more pleased.... Transportation: The hotel is 20-25 minutes from the airport. Room: Our check-in went very smoothly. We were upgraded from an Oceanview to an Oceanfront room. The oceanfront rooms are fantastic. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, these rooms are hard to top. Room did have an occasional sewage odor, the floor ocasionally got wet from the humidity, and the shower door only covers 1/2 of the shower area (not sure why?). On the plus side, the shower is wonderfully powerful! The clock radio has an adapter that will allow you to connect your Ipod (but it doesnt charge it). We also loved the bed; a very firm 4 poster. Room has a DVD player & Dreams has a small collection of DVD's to loan. Suggest you bring a few of you favorites. Weather: Cancun is humid. It is difficult to not walk around without sweating. Your clothes will become moisture laden. I didnt take advantage of the laundry service, but I will the next time I go. We only had minor rain all week, and the temperature stays within a very tight range. You will not need any long pants or sweats here, but you will need tons of suntan lotion. Staff: One of our most enjoyable parts of the trip was being treated so well by the staff; they are wonderful. The pool/beach waiters, restaurant waiters, restaurant greeters are so friendly, much more so than in the States. Please tip these people well, to acknowledge a job well done. Facilities: The pools are very nice. Believe it or not, our feeling was the pool water was too cool. I really didnt notice any odor from the lagoon area. Sorry we missed the dolphin's in the lagoon- they should have them soon! The gym is pitiful, and this was a major disappointment to me. I ended up power walking through the streets of cancun almost every morning, but it just isnt the same as a workout. The hotel next store has a facility that can be used for $20/day, but it isnt that great either. Cancun really needs a major Gym.... You are allowed 15 minutes free internet time a day, and you can purchase additional time for very little money. Dreams only has 3 computers- not enough for hundreds of guests. Entertainment: The entertainment staff is excellent. They are young folks who try to keep the guests involved. Dreams is very kid-friendly, and the staff does an especially nice job getting kids involved. Our favorite night was Mexican night, with dancers & a Mariachi band. The Carribean night was silly, and probably not good for kids. We didnt venture outside of Dreams at night. If you are so inclined, the Disco area of cancun is an easy walk away from Dreams. Location: Couldnt have been better; worth the longer trip from the airport. Dreams has a secluded feeling to it. I cannot imagine that another Cancun hotel could beat it's views/location. Nearby Amenities: I walked around alot, always in the morning. Cancun streets are not for everyone. If you leave the Dreams complex, you will be approached by people selling timeshares, wares, etc. The Flea market has some very aggresive people, which is a major turnoff for me. A small mall with the Rainforest Cafe is about a 1/2 mile walk from Dreams, and has a little variety of merchandise. The nearby shops are very limited though. I forgot the charger for my Ipod, and no store nearby had any. Pack wisely! Food: We didnt expect 5 star restaurant quality food here, and we were extremely pleased with our dining experiences. The World Cafe is basic, and offers many choices. We only dined at the Seaside one evening, but it was beautiful & romantic. The staff in the restaurants is awesome; they really pamper you. One last comment, the Mexican take on sex seems to be a little liberal. Gift shops had some pretty wild stuff mixed in with the blankets & necklaces. If you are with kids, you may not want to take them to any shops outside of Dreams, unless yo...
