Excellence Playa Mujeres Cancun Luxury Adults Only - All Inclusive

Upon arrival the staff were certainly friendly, but not overly helpful. Rooms were promised to be ready in "20 minutes" several times until hours had passed. Once we did get to our room we discovered a nice suite complete with a great marble shower and huge jacuzzi. Unfortunately, the bed is not worthy of the rest of the accomidations, unless you like a hard lumpy matress. The pillows were also oddly small and uncomfortable. The all-inclusiveness of this resort may appeal to some, but when you factor in that all of the food is grossly sub-par, much of the value is lost, even after factoring in all the alcohol one can possibly consume.One hidden jem is the golf course, which is not actively advertised. It actually took a phone call and 2 e-mails to find out the resort guest green fees and finally book a tee time, although probably unneccesary given the fact that we saw only two other groups on the course. Anyway, the almost completely deserted 18-hole course designed by Greg Norman was in excellent condition and boasts an interesting and challenging layout.

This is the second time we visited Cancun by booking the all inclusive package with cheapticket. The resort staff are very friendly but the resort itself is not as good as palace resort (this is resort I stayed in last year). The all inclusive package doesn't include the fun activities like palace resort, such as tour to Isla Mujere, Chichen Itaza and others. We have to pay by our own. So I think the all inclusive package that palace resort offer is way better than excellen.

The hotel and staff were both very nice but the food was awful. There was nothing That tasted good an out of all the 10 restaurants listed only 1/2 are open at a time. You only have 2 choices of places for breakfast both were below average on taste. They served plenty of cheap liquor. Absolute and then everything else was the same no name brand. As for activities. There were none. Anything they offered you needed to take a cab to a marina an then a boat to your destination. It's also all couples. So If your into sitting pool side starving then this is your spot!

We went here for our honeymoon and were disappointed. The food was not very good at all. The drinks were watered down. The service staff were not really that friendly--not eager to please the way they should be at a resort of this supposed calibur and cost. Overall, this resort should be dropped down to a 3-star because of it's food quality and service. The grounds, hotel buildings and rooms were beautiful and well maintened. The rest is for the birds! :(

There were problems with the room not being what I expected. No problem we just had to keep visiting the ATM machine (costly). Very far from town with dirty beaches.

You begin your experience nicely enough, but it soon becomes apparent that the two-story room with the balcony jacuzzi has a jacuzzi pool with no heat. Now, even on the warmest day, this thing is freezing. This was a rip-off and I paid extra just to have that. Many nice restaurants are available, but the food is average. If you ask for something once, you will need to ask twice. If you happen to miss the room cleaning for the day, good luck if it is after 5pm, because you missed your chance. Overall, the location was poor...very windy and the seas were always rough The beach had a yellow or red warning flag each day we were there and the beach itself is a bit dirty. The elevator was out of service many times and it was quite tiny. No separate service elevator! Staff is outwardly friendly, but one is left with the impression that they could care less if you are having a nice stay. No one ever asked us if we enjoyed our stay of what could be better in the future.

It was a nice hotel in a great location. Didn't like staff. Especially at the front desk and the. Also the guy from the Orbitz was very unfriendly.

We went for a restful, relaxing week. Our time by the pool and on the beach was restful, but often our rooms weren't cleaned or we didn't receive the evening turn-down service. We paid for the Excellence Club amenities, but some of the services we didn't receive... even after specifically asking for them. The quality of the restaurants was hit and miss, the best by far being the French restaurant. Oh and if you go with friends, be sure to get separate rooms... the shower has a glass door and window which gives you no privacy whatsoever. Overall, it was nice enough, but not a place I would recommend or go back to.

All the surfaces are tile so there is noise. There may not be noise from loud parties but it is just as bad if you want to nap. Everything makes noise. This resort is not like a hotel with carpet or a cruise ship. You can hear people talking in the hot tub even on the 4th floor. You hear the noise from the cleaning and food carts. You also hear noise from the entertainment at the pool. We went to relax and did not like the noise. The ocean water is nasty. It is not about just a few blades of grass in the water. It is seaweed in abundance. You can't put your feet in the water without seaweed and grass coming back on them. The water is not clear either. The water on the horizon is beautiful. If you are going for the beaches save yourself some money and go to Panama City Florida. This trip cost us almost five thousand dollars for a week and it was not worth the expense. If you want to celebrate your anniversary or wedding be sure and bring your marriage certificate. I don't care if you are celebrating 50 years of marriage they won't recognize it unless you can prove it. For a luxury resort they were pretty "petty" about this. We belong to several resorts including one in Cancun. The resort we belong to does not have have a luxury rating but the beach is a lot better and they are not "petty" about having you prove your wedding date. The Excellence Club is just something that makes some people feel better about paying more. There really isn't anything about it that makes it worth the extra cost. The food isn't any better. If you are into premium liquor in your room you might find the cost worth it. You would be better off grabbing a cab and buying it at a liquor store. We won't go back. I am sure we can find a resort with good food and a better beach. I was wondering if you paid for the $600 honeymoon upgrade if they would recognize your wedding date without a marriage license. After 30 years of marriage I am not accustomed to providing a marriage license. The rooms are nice but no better than at the Wynn Encore. Room service is always after lunch so if you want a clean room during the day forget it. You get your room cleaned by 3 OR 4 pm as the norm and it is not unusual to get it done later than that. Don't expect early check in even if you upgrade to the Excellence Club.

Wonderul hotel, service, and people.
