Amazing Vacation
This trip was great. From check-in to checkout, and all in between. The hotel service was amazing, the grounds were beautiful, the beach was great. The only complaint about the hotel was that housekeeping cleaned the rooms late in the day.

Luxury with a hard bed
La Amada was a beatutiful place to stay. The rooms are so nice! The only complaint that we had was that like many of the reviews that I read before booking at La Amada, the beds were hard. The bathroom area is a bit out in the open so there is not a great deal of privacy. La Amada is quite a ways away from town, so there is really no place in walking distance near by. I loved it there, but my teenage son's were a bit bored. If you want to go to a hotel for rest and relaxation than this is the place! The pools were never crowded, it was quiet, there weren't a bunch of screaming kids running around, and it was definately not a party zone for college spring breakers. It was $25 dollars to get a cab into town, but our driver waited for us while we were shopping at La Isla Mall. He then drove us to a street market downtown. I got ripped off at one stand, but my son got good deals! Go on a trip to Isle Mujeres. We had a blast on the catameran but there was no shade so it was really hot. We had fun shopping on the island and got pretty good deals there. It was a long day, but totally worth it. There is a small game area by the kids pool where you can play pool, ping-pong, or chess. Othere than that there wasn't a lot to do around the hotel.I would go again, but I would leave the kids at home and bring my boyfriend!

We bought our tickets before La Amada became all inclusive. I asked about adding it on but they wanted $80 per person per day. We ordered room service for lunch and dinner and went to the Grille restaurant by the beach for lunch twice. It averaged about 80-100 per day for all three of us. Not such a bad price when they were asking for $80 per person per day!!The room had a mini fridge with complementary beer, soda's and water. Each day they restock it and they leave snacks that include a Snickers bar, peanut M&M's, Chipsahoy cookies, and two bags of chips. This was nice because I brought two teenage boys with me. They ate the snacks every day and drank all of the soda's.

Exemplary 5 star resort!
Our arrival was perfect-champagne as we checked in! Service was superb. Restaurants were excellent, staff very welcoming and helpful.... never "looking for tips" although we were happy to tip them regularly for their gracious service. The infinity pools(3)were beauriful and the beach was "right there" with beautiful loungers. Gorgeous place for a wedding which we attended right at the resort.

Relaxing, beautiful and hospitable!
My husband and I were ready for an escape and some much-needed relaxation. We loved the beach here--white sand and that gorgeous blue-green Caribbean water! There are plenty of excursions you can plan from the hotel, but we just wanted to walk on the beach, read and rest. This is the perfect place for that. Just enough off the beaten path that we were not prey to time-share solicitations, vendors, etc. There is none of that here. On another trip to Mexico (Puerto Vallara) we felt like we were constantly under siege. Each morning, we ordered room service breakfast and ate on our balcony, which had views of the beach and the pools. Then we'd wander down to the beach and plant ourselves underneath the parasols... we could order drinks, lunch, etc., and never have to get up! The service at La Amada is fantastic. Wait staff welcomed us warmly at every meal and called us by name. They were extremely accommodating. There are three restaurants on the property. To me, the only drawback is that in the evening, if you just want something casual like a burger or pizza or tacos, it's not available. The food is very good though and seems to be health-conscious and fresh. Presentation is lovely. They make every dish look like it's out of a magazine. The spa is gorgeous and the staff there are amazing. We had a couples massage and facials and enjoyed the "aqua viva"--a real treat of sensory water experiences in the spa's spectacular pool. That is a "must do." Our room was beautiful--we had a Junior Suite--white on white decor, jacuzzi, balcony, double shower, huge bed, white leather furniture. We have travelled a lot and my husband travels for business and this is truly one of the nicest placest we've seen. Hope to come back again!

facilities: the hotel decor is very chic; the white palette requires thorough cleaning that is not yet demonstrated by housekeeping housekeeping: actually took pillows out of our room and failed to return them; need to wipe down headboards and couches/ottomans- lack of attention to detail in cleaning room: none are on the beach and oceanview is just that; bathroom shower is best feature of room; enjoyed balcony beach:small but very nice and private spa- Jose is great! food- the limited number of restaurants and stagnant menu choices makes this hotel a DISASTER for all-inclusive option; the hostess at aroma has a negative attitude; lupita restaurant (1 of ony 2) was not open the entire week of our stay; the hotel is driving distance ONLY from the nearest dining options, so a car is a MUST, unless you dont mind endless taxi fares staff- front desk and concierge were polite and helpful; gift store staff were repeatedly rude wifi: worked fine, a bit slow security: armed guards at double gates grounds: well landscaped overall POSITIVE experience; we really weren't there much b/c we enjoyed daily excursions; but it was nice to return to this peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle of cancun, which is about a 25-30 min car ride to the hotel zone; but only 15 in to puerta juarez ferry dock

incredible value, incredible experience
I'd never been to an all-inclusive place before, so I was nervous that the quality wouldn't be good and that there would be too many activities and we wouldn't be able to relax. I've never been so happy to be wrong! Everything was just perfect- the service, the facilities, the food, the pools and beach. It was verrrry relaxed- not much to do at night other than eat a mindblowing dinner in a beautiful setting, read on your private balcony bed (!) and go to sleep early so you could get more beach time the next day. This place is quiet, serene, and perfect- not for those that want lots of activities during the day or like mingling at the bar, but perfect if you just need to truly unwind.

We found the all-inclusive plan to be a good value, as we both drink and like to enjoy multiple courses at dinner. Please note, I don't think tips are inlcuded in the all-inclusive price, but after the great service you'll be more than happy to tip well- and you can sign the tip to your room charge.

Great Romantic Weekend
My boyfriend and I stayed at La Amada Hotel for a great birthday weekend getaway in December 2009. We were looking for a quiet beach paradise, and found it here. From the serene and luxurious feel and look of the hotel to great staff that made every interaction and meal special, including setting up a romantic dinner on the beach for just the two of us - our trip was perfect. The only negative - our jacuzzi was not working, but we did not bother to get it fixed because we were having too much fun on the beach during daytime and by the property pool at night. It was a wonderful trip! (And we should have worn more sunscreen)

Relaxing, beautiful, amazing vacation
I absolutely loved La Amada. I was curious to see how the hotel would compare to the website descriptions, web reviews and photos. First of all, the resort looks exactly like the photos on the website - including that there are usually not many people around! I considered that a plus. When my boyfriend and I arrived early in the week, the resort was about 50% occupancy, which we came to enjoy. Toward the weekend the place filled up more, especially with more families. It is beautiful. Everything is comfortable and we never tired of anything. The rooms are gorgeous and clean, comfortable bed, nice amenities. The beach is private - we spent most of our days on a bed on the beach, enjoying frozen drinks and chips and guacamole from the friendly staff. Definitely get the all inclusive plan. Our favorite restaurant was Isla Grill near the beach. Great food, wonderful service. We liked getting sushi at the Lupita Lounge before dinner. Wish Isla Grill stayed open later, though. Have to repeat what many other people have said - get a spa treatment and the Agua Viva. We booked 30 minute massages (which were fantastic); with any spa treatment you receive the hour-long Agua Viva treatment. It's hard to describe, but is essentially a series of saunas and water massages - very relaxing and fun with a partner especially. It's certainly a place for couples - though many people brought their young kids, babies mostly. The resort is couple-oriented: more beach beds than chairs, tables for two at the restaurants, and king bed suites. The bathrooms are worth mentioning: very open and not much privacy - so hope you're comfortable! We flew in a day earlier than originally planned, so ended up in a junior suite the first night, and then the 2-floor casita for 5 more nights. The casita was more private, had a great view of the ocean and its own private pool, however the junior suite isn't much of a downgrade - it's actually a bigger room than the casita. The rooms look exactly like they do in the website photos. Nothing bad to say about the place! It's a small, pretty quiet resort that's incredibly beautiful and relaxing. I think some people have said that beverage service is slow - sometimes you wait a while for a drink on the beach, but... you're on a beach! Try the Clementini. We did an evening trip to Isla Mujeres that I wouldn't really recommend. We went out in Cancun one night - to Cocobongo which is a definite must - but other than that just laid in the sun, ate a ton of delicious food and relaxed. If you need advice or help with anything, the concierges and really all the staff are incredibly helpful. The resort next door is related - the Excellence - and it looks nice, with a younger crowd. Loved it and can't wait to go back!

Cocobongo Cancun. It's a club with live dance performances, confetti that flies from the ceiling - it's crazy! Don't bother getting the VIP ticket, being on the floor is more fun. Just keep an eye on your drink.
