Emporio Ixtapa

Preety happy with my sea view room, well equipped, nice pool, great drinks and delicious buffet for lunch and breakfast. Right on the beach, what else can you ask for? Did I forget to mention Señor Frog´s is accross the street?

Best value for resort style accommodation at Ixtapa by the beach & close to many restaurants. Air conditional & refrigerator in the room are due for upgrading.

I´ll start with my biggest complaint about this hotel. The air conditioning is connected to a motion sensor in the corner of the room. When you go to sleep, the air conditioning turns off and there is just a fan, blowing warm air. We kept waking up hot and sweaty throughout the night! Otherwise, I really liked the size and location of the hotel. The hotel is small and right on the beach and since we live in Mexico, we visited on a Mexican holiday weekend and although it was full, it never felt crowded. That said, the best spot for enjoying the view is on the patio next to steps to go down to the beach. However the staff kicks you out at 2:30 everyday to set up the grill. The beach is beautiful (the waves are strong and big though) and the hotel is right in front of an outdoor mall with about a dozen restaurants that are economical. The room was clean and recently remodeled and the maid did an excellent job cleaning up after us and decorating with flowers!

We enjoyed this hotel very much. We used the bikes they offer for free, as there is a great biking trail right across the road. The rooms were clean & the beds very comfortable. The staff was very kind & always helpful. We loved the beach! We would go back.

Emporio Hotel location is great. Our room was 7th floor corner with view of the beach and town which was nice. Room was marginal and loud- had to close windows at night due to street / music noise. Bed was comfortable. Room had small, floor-level (plumbing access?) door that would not stay closed. Inside was creepy and smelly and needed to position trash can in front of door to keep it closed. Cheap plastic toilet seat that kept sliding off toilet. Hotel decor bland. Lots of kids. Not a good value for the price.

Staff are the most helpful, refreshment service was excellent. Everything; with the exception of the air conditioner was perfect.

Since the Dorado turned "All-Inclusive", we needed to find another hotel in this perfect location. After reading reviews of the Emporio, we expected just average, however---it was better than that. The pool area gets a much needed breeze and the size of the area is good. The internet service in our room for the first week was terrific, however the final 5 days it was not available. They kept promising it would return, but never did. However, it was still always available in the lobby----not as convenient, but at least available. Beer prices not great--much better across the street, but Happy Hour made the price a little better. We will stay there again.

Other than a little trouble with the AC and WiFi, the room was comfortable and restful. The staff was helpful and courteous. Will stay there again!

This was our 5th visit to Hotel Emporio and we would gladly go back again. It isn't the fanciest hotel in Ixtapa but the people that work there make it our favorite hotel. The breakfast buffet is fantastic and almost all of the staff speaks English and they are happy to help me with my Spanish. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We don't do 'all inclusive' mainly because just across the street from the hotel is a half mile of shops, stores and many wonderful restaurants (Mexican, Italian, American, etc.). It's very popular with the Mexican people. In California, if a Mexican restaurant has a large Latino clientele, I figure the food is good and authentic. Why shouldn't the same hold true for a hotel in Mexico?
