We love Emporio @ Ixtapa!

Had a wonderful time in Ixtapa. The Emporio is a very clean and friendly place. They have bikes to be used for free on the biking trails just across the street. The staff is very helpful at all times of the day. The food was great, we ate at sunset right by the ocean. Would recommend this place to young & old alike.

Good place for a nap

Had not been to this hotel for several years. We've been to Mx. about 20 times and at this hotel about 5. Except for the kids on weekends, ,this place lacks any daytime entertainment once you've talked with the limited number of other guests. Inclusive package description sheet at arrival is quite different from the " all meals, drinks [domestic brands] " shown at booking site. These new instructions are confusing. It tells you that you can eat only at one location {which is closed from 11:30 to 1pm-]Other options are, in fact, available. Poolside you can only order fries, nachos, hotdogs, and hamburgers. A more extensive menu is available to those on the a la carte programs. "all domestic drinks" becomes 'house brands' meaning only tap beer, 2 of 9 varieties of tequila, ,lime daiquiri- Yes strawberry daiquiri-No.. Basically you don't get what the website promises, although the value is still there Many repeat customers complain about decreasing satisfaction but keep coming back year after year. We noticed that employees either are too busy or are directly discouraged from visiting much with clientele compared to 5 or 6 years ago.I can understand why but feel the hotel really loses out on a chance to sell "brand" loyalty as the opportunity to know and be known by employees makes clients feel special and want to return

When dining across the street check your bill. Some places automatically add a tip while many do not.

great location

We loved the Emporio's open atrium, pool, location and the fact that many of the guests had stayed here many years in a row spoke to the quality of the staff, the food, the pool and the food. The hotel would not exchange currency as advertised, however. The pillows were okay but full of weird stuffing and our shower had very little water pressure, but the staff kept it clean and it was otherwise very nice.

We had decent to very good food in every restaurant we visited (and we visited many of them). We especially enjoyed Emilio's for Italian and had great meals at Don Memo and the Monkey House in Zihauteneo.

Service needs work

Made reservations 6 months in advance and when get to hotel it takes them 2 hours and 4 moves from different rooms to find a room that has a/c, king bed, and a dresser to store clothes! We were so disappointed inout room view. Paid and upgraded to SUPERIOR Ocean view and was put on 3rd floor with a tree in front of our window! Never had hot water in the shower:( Had to find housekeeping every day, since they forgot towels, washcloths or some other items.

Nice weekend break

Preety happy with my sea view room, well equipped, nice pool, great drinks and delicious buffet for lunch and breakfast. Right on the beach, what else can you ask for? Did I forget to mention Señor Frog´s is accross the street?

Forget getting a good nights rest!

I´ll start with my biggest complaint about this hotel. The air conditioning is connected to a motion sensor in the corner of the room. When you go to sleep, the air conditioning turns off and there is just a fan, blowing warm air. We kept waking up hot and sweaty throughout the night! Otherwise, I really liked the size and location of the hotel. The hotel is small and right on the beach and since we live in Mexico, we visited on a Mexican holiday weekend and although it was full, it never felt crowded. That said, the best spot for enjoying the view is on the patio next to steps to go down to the beach. However the staff kicks you out at 2:30 everyday to set up the grill. The beach is beautiful (the waves are strong and big though) and the hotel is right in front of an outdoor mall with about a dozen restaurants that are economical. The room was clean and recently remodeled and the maid did an excellent job cleaning up after us and decorating with flowers!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

About a dozen restaurantes right in front of the hotel and are great for meals if you don´t go the all inclusive route. The hotel charges extra per day just to use the in room coffee maker though! This is just not right. I balked and went across the street to a convenience store and bought some instant coffee.
