Perfect hotel for a quiet family vacation

This hotel is perfect for those looking for a true mexican experience, away from all the American tourists and the big all-inclusive hotels. We had breakfast included with our package, it was incredible! A buffet with made-to-order omelets, pancakes, sweet bread, juices, beans, potatoes and much more. The beach is clean, safe and quiet. The hotel has boogie boards that the kids loved, they played in the ocean for hours! They provide beach towels, and there are always chairs available on the beach. Nuevo Vallarta is a small town, safe to walk around and with some nice places to visit. You can easily take a taxi to Puerto Vallarta, where you'll find vendors, markets and many more people. There are taxis across the street from the hotel, they are safe and charge fair prices. They'll take you anywhere you want to go and also give you very good recommendations. Our favorite places were the ones the locals recommended. For fish and seafood we suggest "El Titis" ($6.00 taxi ride, 10 minutes from the hotel). One block from the hotel is "Tacos el muelle", on the marina, a great taco place. The staff at the hotel went out of their way to make our vacation wonderful, they were exceptional.

"Tacos el muelle" on the marina, close to the hotel. The owner cooks the meat on the grill right there, and tacos are only $1 each. Their specialty is "molcajete". Very tasty tacos and friendly servers.

Good location - food needs improvement

The location can't get better - right off of the beach. There is only one restaurant, not a whole lot of selection, however, when you stay more than 3 nights, you get a special dinner on the beach, which was great. For what you pay, it is a great deal, however, the food could be better.

Could Have Been Better

The only complaint I have is the food. Mind you I didn't starve but the food, if your not Mexican, was a small choice. Beans at every meal is not my idea of breakfast. Some night there wasn't anything that was appealing to me. Other than the food the location was great, rooms very clean, and staff wonderful.

Quick weekend getaway

Hotel staff are very friendly and go the extra mile for guests. The room was clean, however, the air conditioning unit was not turned on until we checked in and took 2 days to cool the room. The unit is not adequate for the size of the rooms and the hotel didn't have any ceiling fans or portable fans to help cool the room. Other than that, it was a very pleasant weekend stay. Breakfast buffet was great and the service was wonderful.

a bit old

The rooms are a bit outdated and the amenities are bad. Upon checkout they were calling the rooms to ensure all towels are accounted for.

Keep looking

The room was very basic. We did not have hot water until the next day. The micorwave in the kitchen could not be used due to the fact that it required a three prong outlet. The pool and pool area was very small to the point that in one section of the pool area, there were no lawn chairs and we were forced to sit on top of a brick wall. The water inside the pool seemed as if it had not been cleaned in days.

Cute little piece of Heaven!

This is a very small little hotel in Nuevo Vallarta and for the price I was not disappointed. I chose to take the all-inclusive option which I prefer, however, I felt some of the dinners lacked a variety of selections. My room was very clean and loved that I could open the windows. The staff was very friendly and really made me feel at home. Thank you [...] for always remembering my name. The beach access can't be beat, and the pools were adequate. I liked that there was a seperate kiddie pool. I would only suggest to add more evening activities to their services. Overall, I came to PV to rest & relax and just enjoy being in Mexico and I feel the Villa Varadero satisfied that need.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Don't be afraid to take the city bus into PV. It is far cheaper than a taxi and they are very easy to navigate and most of the bus drivers will tell you where you need to be and what bus to be on. I even took the bus back to the airport.
