Vast Puerto Vallarta hotel merges old and new Mexico design
Krystal Vallarta is a tale of two resorts: one resembling a Mexican village with quaint cobblestone streets and gardens, the other a luxury haven with contemporary, minimalist rooms with stunning bay views. In the new Grand Tower, guests unwind with high-end amenities such as rainfall showers and private oceanfront balconies, while 501 garden rooms further the serenity. Four a la carte restaurants and two swim-up bars heighten the mood for leisure.Highlights
- Two swim-up bars and tranquil Aqueduct pool area
- Kids Club with supervised activities
- Contemporary rooms in the new Grand Tower
- Four a la carte restaurants and 24-hour room service
Rooms
Krystal Vallarta underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation to launch Grand Tower, where 199 deluxe rooms favor minimalist, yet approachable, contemporary flair. Bold splashes of color, such as fiery orange bolsters and tropical bedding, complement clean lines and high-end furniture. The hotel pays attention to quality, from marble floors to over-the-counter sinks and rainfall showers in spa-caliber bathrooms. Balconies offer expansive views of the ocean, garden or Sierra Madre Mountains.Every room has an LCD TV.Fans of traditional Mexican style opt for the garden rooms, which are set in a village-like setting, complete with cobblestone streets and more than 40 fountains.
Features
Two underwater tables and swim-up bars on each end of Krystal Vallarta's main pool attract those who like a cocktail while they soak. A large sports area divides the pool, while partially submerged sun beds keep guests cool as they tan. Seven Jacuzzis and a tranquil Aqueduct area surrounded by palm trees complete the feeling of tranquility.Parents turn to the Happy Nino Kids Club to entertain the children and enjoy private time. Supervised activities run the gamut, from craft-making to an indoor playground.
Dining
Guests at Krystal Vallarta indulge in four a la carte restaurants in addition to 24-hour room service. La Trattoria serves Italian fare, while Kamakura Japanese restaurant sets a romantic scene with hanging lights and lush Aqueduct gardens. Because no Mexican trip would be complete without outdoor feasting, patrons can also dine in their bathing suits at poolside buffet Las Velas, lunch favorite Crazy Crab Snack Shack or Bogarts on the Beach.Transportation

An OK stay
We stayed at the Krystal on our previous visit to PV and that is why we choose it again. On our last stay we were in their beachfront tower and we liked it very much - this time we were in the newest tower, which unfortunately did not meet our expectations. When we made the reservation we were under the impression that we were going to be in the same beach tower, so we were a little disappointed. It would be nice to have an airconditioned lobby in the hotel towers. One of the restaurants was closed during our entire visit so there were only 2 to choose from - they were both just OK. Room service was better. It is however in great walking distance to a grocery store for water and fruit and close to downtown and the Marina - only $80 pesos to downtown and $60 pesos to the Marina. The property is very large and the staff is good about giving you rides around the grounds if you need one.

Short drive from hotel
Take a cab down to the Marina Vallarta and have lunch or dinner and drinks at a great little place called Kiosko's - great food at reasonable prices - we sat and ate and drank for over 2 hours and the bill was only $50 US. The staff is very friendly as well.

Good Stay
Overall it was a good trip. The resort was nothing speacial. We had the Deluxe Ocean View room and I'm very glad we upgraded. Great Ocean View and the Room was 10x better than the Non-Deluxe rooms.

Mexican Paradise
our experience was very enjoyable... service was outstanding , hotel was very pretty , everyone we spoke with were very polite. the only thing that has some opportunities were the jacuzzi's some people were using them has small swimming pools with young children, this is not what they were designed for, many adults waiting to use them. we will deffinently return and recomend to others.. thank you!

Some good & bad things.
Most of the time we went out to town during the evening. While being around the pool it would be great to be able to hear the music everywhere. In many other resorts they have great entertainment during the day such as dance competition, races, etc. The food at this resort wasn't good at all. It was the same thing for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday.I was hoping to have a bigger buffet to pick from and be exited to come to dinner with a different theme of food. The 4 restaurants were so much better then the food in the whole resort. One other thing that we didn't like was when the cruise travelers came to our hotel as if they lived there. its nice to have them around but when the pool gets too crowed and when you can't find a place to lay down isn't that fun. Being a all-inclusive member in the hotel we should have the right to be taking care of at the bar first than the cruise travelers. Other than that, we did like our room and most of the staff was wonderful and the location was great, not to far from anything, such as town, the airport and food markets.

Very nice hotel
We stayed six nights and did NOT take the all-inclusive. Service was fine, beach front excellent, room clean (especially since we left a 20 peso tip each morning) We took very cheap, quick public buses into the Center each evening for dinner, only $0.50 per person each way. Weather for this spring break trip was picture-perfect.

Lots of great restaurants in town, only a short bus ride in. Make sure and eat at Pipi's--great atmosphere, good Mexican food. For a fine meal, try Los Xitomates--excellent and not that pricey for a good restaurant. And Bubba Gumps is always good for the shrimp.

This was a wonderful place to be.....!
The location was perfect for me (us.) It was beautiful, clean, quiet, picturesque, great service, wonnderful atmosphere. Newly remodeled fitness center, child care and restaurants. Believe it or not the two restaurants that had sushi and italian were really good too. Mexico is still a huge bang for a little buck. Thank you for having us.

The hotel was great from the start. Staff checked us with no hassle, taken by cart to the room, very clean and better than the pictures showed. Very fun pool with activities for young adults, quite pool for children and young families, great beach for those looking to laze. Inexpensive, some mild construction in the area, near bus loop to downtown and mariana, grocery practically next door, clean crowd of people.

On the Malecon check out the little Italian restaurant near the romantic district. Cheeky Monkey has $1 beer and margaritas with inexpensive food. Pipi's has a great atmosphere, watch out for undercooked food though; it's very busy.
