Vast Puerto Vallarta hotel merges old and new Mexico design
Krystal Vallarta is a tale of two resorts: one resembling a Mexican village with quaint cobblestone streets and gardens, the other a luxury haven with contemporary, minimalist rooms with stunning bay views. In the new Grand Tower, guests unwind with high-end amenities such as rainfall showers and private oceanfront balconies, while 501 garden rooms further the serenity. Four a la carte restaurants and two swim-up bars heighten the mood for leisure.
Highlights
  • Two swim-up bars and tranquil Aqueduct pool area
  • Kids Club with supervised activities
  • Contemporary rooms in the new Grand Tower
  • Four a la carte restaurants and 24-hour room service
Rooms
Krystal Vallarta underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation to launch Grand Tower, where 199 deluxe rooms favor minimalist, yet approachable, contemporary flair. Bold splashes of color, such as fiery orange bolsters and tropical bedding, complement clean lines and high-end furniture. The hotel pays attention to quality, from marble floors to over-the-counter sinks and rainfall showers in spa-caliber bathrooms. Balconies offer expansive views of the ocean, garden or Sierra Madre Mountains.Every room has an LCD TV.

Fans of traditional Mexican style opt for the garden rooms, which are set in a village-like setting, complete with cobblestone streets and more than 40 fountains.
Features
Two underwater tables and swim-up bars on each end of Krystal Vallarta's main pool attract those who like a cocktail while they soak. A large sports area divides the pool, while partially submerged sun beds keep guests cool as they tan. Seven Jacuzzis and a tranquil Aqueduct area surrounded by palm trees complete the feeling of tranquility.

Parents turn to the Happy Nino Kids Club to entertain the children and enjoy private time. Supervised activities run the gamut, from craft-making to an indoor playground.
Dining
Guests at Krystal Vallarta indulge in four a la carte restaurants in addition to 24-hour room service. La Trattoria serves Italian fare, while Kamakura Japanese restaurant sets a romantic scene with hanging lights and lush Aqueduct gardens. Because no Mexican trip would be complete without outdoor feasting, patrons can also dine in their bathing suits at poolside buffet Las Velas, lunch favorite Crazy Crab Snack Shack or Bogarts on the Beach.

Beautiful grounds

We enjoy Puerto Vallarta very much. This was our 4th time back. We've stayed at other locations. We had to be moved from our check-in room because the toilet was not hooked up; the bed was not made; and we had no face cloths; remote to tv did not work. After notifying the front desk the second day of all of our concerns, we were moved to a "family suite." Again no hot water until the evening before we were to leave (4 nights). One of the remotes did not work, but staff accommodated our requests. We loved the grounds and the Japanese restaurant on site as very good food. The pools were clean and pretty. All in all, we enjoyed our tip and will return. The hot water is fixed now.

Beautiful Mexican Hacienda Charm

NH Krystal is a very charming resort and hotel, has resturants at the hotel, and within walking distance. The Krystal has 3 pools on the grounds and villas with there own pools, they provide child care, a newly built section of the hotel with a resturant, gym, spa, and gift shop. The main pool has another resturant and bar & grill, with the beach only a few steps away from the pool.

Did not receive the room I paid for!

I recently stayed here for 7 nights. My only complaint is that I had paid for a Superior Ocean View room in the NH Club tower and when arrived I was given a totally different room that was not an Ocean View room. It turns out that they close the Ocenfront NH club rooms during low season yet still sell the rooms for more money. After going back to the lobby desk twice to have my room changed I gave up and just took a room with limited ocean view. The front desk did not really care that I was not given the room I paid for.

NH Krystal Vallarta

This was our 20th wedding anniversary. We stayed at the Krystal on our honeymoon and this was our first time back. We loved it. The old world charm still exists. Warm and friendly local people. The food at the Krystal was not that good which helps to keep those vacation pounds away. We will definately return.

Even if you are all inclusive, take a couple nights and go out to dinner. Visit with the locals downtown just a couple blocks up from the main drag. You won't regret it.

Nice Hotel

I stayed here for my brother's wedding. It was a great location for the wedding and the hotel itself was nice. My only small gripe is in regards to the restaurant next to the pool. I thought the service was rather slow. The waiters were friendly but I think they need more help. The food was just ok but since it was convenient, I would have breakfast there.

typical all-inclusive, American style

Krystal is not a bad hotel but it depends on what you're seeking in a Mexican vacation. It is more suitable for families and those who enjoy all-inclusive vacation experiences than for those who prefer either intimacy, quiet, or a more authentic Mexican experience. Be prepared for the thumping bass of 70s American tunes blaring during the day to accommodate the swimming pool games they seem to favor over tranquility. The food in the main restaurant, whether for breakfast or lunch, is atrocious. A taxi into town will cost between $5 and $7 each way.
