Wonderful gay-friendly resort for couples!
This was my first time ever in Mexico and I am so glad we chose this resort, rather than one of the larger touristy resorts. It was just about perfect. I will start with all the good, then add a few areas that could be improved to make the resort truly perfect. There are several "Villas" with maybe 16 suites each. The rooms are gorgeous and extremely large. The pool is also large and gorgeous. The property itself is very beautiful with pathways through well maintained trees, along the ocean, etc. The views are magnificent. The large gazebo is perfect for a couple to claim for lunch. The staff was wonderful as well. There were always a lot of people on staff, so you rarely if ever waited for anything at any time of day. They were personable, helpful, and genuinely seemed to enjoy working there. Overall the food was good. Breakfast was very good. The lunch and snack menus were very good. Dinner was hit and miss (see below). The housekeeping staff was excellent. The spa was also great. Had the 80 minute massage and they were wonderful. A few areas that weren't bad, but definitely could use some attention. The "3 restaurants for dinner" are not really 3 restaurants. It is 1 restaurant, but they have the 3 different types of food available to order (Mexican, Italian, Asian). We were there for a week and dined for dinner twice. The first time was terrible. The second was good. Not great, but good. We received much better food dining out for dinner. The 4 outdoor hot tubs need some attention. They weren't horrible, but need cleaned & maintenanced...or replaced! The music by the pool was repetitive. They could update their playlists. The Spirit Bar was nice, but the pool table and some of the chairs were very cheap and could really use replaced. Overall, a wonderful experience. We rented a car for the week, so did not use the bikes. I am glad we had a car because it allowed us to venture far outside of the resort and on our own time. The Eco Hotel area just south of the resorts is a great place to go for beaches, drinks, food and a little shopping. Very nice!

Perfect couples getaway resort
Everything from security and beautiful natural location. The staff was very helpful, the front desk staff are fluently english, the kitchen so-so. We ordered foodservice during our whole stay mainly because we would arrive late after our adventures in Akumal, Tulum, Chichen Itza and Cenotes, very close to Xel-Ha. Great location where you can bike, walk or take a cab to downtown Tulum. Great food close by. The amenities of the rooms , property and beach views were super great and romantic. Very clean, quiet and peaceful. I traveled with my girlfriend and we both can't wait to come back here we were very happy with this vacation and resort. If you want to relax and just enjoy this resort you can totally have a great time or you can adventure to all different activities in a matter of minutes.

Although the resort's food is good for an all inclusive resort, Tulum and the surrounding towns have great local food you must try. Check out the Al Pastor Tacos in the famous La Chiapaneca restaurant along the Tulum market area right off the road.

Great hotel, definitely will go back.
Beautiful hotel, perfect size, good location, ample and comfortable rooms, good food but the best is the staff, extremely nice and helpful. Is good to rent a car the hotel has parking and you can visit the Mayan ruins of Tulum just 5 min. away. In Coba (45 min. drive) you can climb a Mayan Piramid. Pack your beach blanket and a couple of bears and drive south to the Sian Ka'an Ecological reserve and look for a beautiful secluded beach. Great hotel, will go back anytime.

Very Nice Getaway
We had a very nice experience overall. The staff made an effort to speak english and are very friendly. The Mexican restaurant was best among the Italian and Asian one. The chef accomodated us with a vegetarian meal even thaugh it is not part of the menu. The swimming pool has a great view to the ocean and we appreciate the fact that no children are allowed in the hotel. We could rest and decompress. The bicycle are practical to get around but check for any missing part because they are not well maintained. Water pressure in the shower is not great and it took forever to get warm water (you'll never get hot water). I still recommend this hotel. It's a great value as a package deal (Flight & Hotel).

Great couples weekend!
My bf and I went from 2/15 to 2/18, our first vacay after 3yrs! We had a great time from start to finish. The hotel is located on a cliff above the beach and very pretty. Lots of water features that are so nice. Check in was quick and we were given a nice wine cocktail upon arrival, taken to our room and were so impressed. The room was clean, fresh towels and drinks everyday. We could order whatever we wanted, anytime without any questions. The staff is great, friendly and without any attitude. Coming from NYC, this is rare. We enjoyed the food at all times and the delicious margaritas. We sat out by the pool one day and got nice and tips and brown. Chatted with other guests. Lots of gay couples and a few randoms. The place was about 40% full during our stay. We used the bikes two days to get to the beach which is about 10mins on bike and free. You can also go into another hotel and just buy drinks if you want to be on the beach with service. The bikes are rusty and single speed but functional. Might have to put the chain back on a few times which is no biggie. Speaking spanish helps makes things easier. Keep it simple with the waiters because they are confused at times since so many different people come in with such picky things. They aim to please but only know what they know. If you're looking for a great time away from home and aren't a picky weirdo, you won't regret anything.

Go to Asadero for nice, chill dinner. Also, if you take the ADO bus into Tulum, immediately on the left side as you walk out there's a place where a woman sells tacos made to order that are one of top 5 things i've ever put in my mouth. You must get them!!

Beautiful Resort
The Adonis is one of the most beautiful resorts in Tulum. I spent most days relaxing in the sun by the ocean or the pool. However, the food left much to be desired.

Pretty nice if you want a resort feel and not the Tulum cabana feel
This place is good if you like the resort feel. The rooms are very big, modern and clean. There is no access to the beach though which is very annoying to me. The food while it is included in the price - it is not that good. Lots of microwave food... While it advertises itself as a gay resort - it barely has any gay men en masse like one would imagine if this hotel was located in Cancun or Playa del Carmen. I think its suitable for straight families too. It is very safe and you will feel like you have the place all to yourself. Advice: Get up early (7am) and get the free bikes provided at the guard's desk and bike to the Tulum ruins- you will beat the crowds - trust me. There is nothing like it... bring your beach stuff cause there is swimming to be had :)

Long walk from hotel
Get up early at 7am to get the free bikes at the guard's desk to bike to the tulum ruins before all the tour buses get there. it is totally awesome. you will have the ruins to yourself for about 1 hour then once the crowds arrive, move down the stairs to the beach for some swimming while staring at the ruins high above you.

Totally disapointed
My 6 nights were a total disapointment at this resort. The rooms were great and spacious, the staff tried to accomodate you and was friendly, they got your request correct 50% of the time. If it werent for some of the awsum fun people we met it would have been a total disapointment. The 3 restaurants and the all inclusive food plan was totally unacceptable. The first night we went for mexican, there was nothing mexican on the menu. The second night the restaurants were closed and they offered a buffet. The 3rd night they again made their own agenda with no menu available at 6 pm when the restaurant opened at 6pm. At 630 they finally offered 3 choices in celebration of the mexican halloween. Ok so the next morning I call room service 5 times to get breakfast and they never answered so i had to go out to the retaurant,. 3 days at 1030 am they had no bacon. Ok enough of the food it was totally not what I paid for. Room service gave you new towels and made the bed they cleaned nothing, they did not refill our mini bar until we asked. We went to use our jacuzzi and the drain was broken, we had to have maintenance come and repair it. Our tv remote had to be replaced 2 times. There was four outdoor jacuzzis at any given day 1 was hot, the last 3 days they were broken, they did not have the part to replace it. The last day after me complaining a manager came and talked to us, he offered us a room upgrade, we did not accept it as it would be more of an inconvenience to pack up and move for 1 day. They gave us a bottle of champagne in our room ... whoopie.@@!? the staff is 99% straight. The drinks sucked ok enough... dont go with high expectations.

Spent there 6 days last week of August. As the one only all-inclusive resort this place is amazing! Let's start with great things: 1. Amazing location - resort is located in Tulum (1hr 20 mins private shuttle from Cancun airport) A. Great beaches 5-10 minutes away B. beaches are most beautiful of many Mexican locations we traveled to C. I'm a beach lover and these beaches won my heart! 2. Food is good unless you looking for chef Gordon Ramsey restaurant but always tasty and served with high quality 3. Rooms are large and always clean. If I was satisfied with Parthenon suite I can only imagine how great other rooms are 4. Couples can spent amazing time there. Good mix of people to mingle with, nice Infiniti pool, volleyball court close to the pool. 5. Singles can find international mix of people to chat with or spend nice quiet time by the pool or beach 6. Staff is mostly straight but very very friendly and very accommodating 7. Clothing optional "beach". Resort does not have direct access to the beach but has "beach-like" clothing optimal area right on the cliff. Bad things: 1. Better advertisement so more gay people could find out about this resort 2. Still working on landscape but no complaints there it is kept up well, clean. 3. Staff should be attentive by the pool all day long (maybe short staffed due to low occupancy the week we were there) Overall: We are going back there in 2 months. This is how much we liked it. Great place with extremely high potential for LGBT community. Will make sure more our friends go there to check it out. Of course there will always be people disappointed with many things - it all depends what you are looking for. It's better to go to this resort to relax than going to other resorts nearby. Adonis gives you feeling of safe and you can be who you are. Nobody who stay there will be judging you. Go, relax, have fun and enjoy the most beautiful beaches of Mexico! We also learned Tulum is getting International Airport next year. It will be even easier to get there! Resort provides bikes so you can bike to beaches and supermarket :) I loved it there and going back!!!
