Ever heard of an air freshener ???

The hotel had a small but nice lobby. The elevator is somewhat slow but beats any Dutch staircase that's true. Exit elevator, enter 3rd floor hallway to the most awful rotten egg stench my girlfriend and I have ever experienced.. Dove into our room, 328 to escape said rancid smells. Room was clean and nice with a cool looking shower set up.. One slight design flaw..the shower soaks the entire bathroom floor upon use..absolutely bone-headed structural draining flaws.. We left to stroll around Museumplein for hours..returned to find that even after several hours, the lobby now stunk a bit like the 3rd floor. We were freezing outside as the hotel was locked up by 12:30 p.m. and were eventually buzzed in. We entered the 3rd floor and it stunk almost even worse than that afternoon. I thought, how hard is it to get an air freshener in that entire hallway or even the whole tiny hotel?!!! They cost $1.00 and would have made the stay 100% better but the fact that the cleaners were just going around as if there was NOT a dead body smell in there just showed that the hotel did not CARE one bit about our stay. Also, you can't check in until 2p.m. which is pretty lame..as you have to be out by 11am..also whack! They have the audacity to offer your room until 5pm for another 25 Euros..jokes..for that reeking stench, really another 25 euros..no thanks!! Everything is a rip off in Holland and Europe so I was prepared for it beforehand but when you book a three-star it should not smell like death in any part of the hotel. Disgusting smell not even attempted to be fixed equals no return and a warning to all that may think that place cares about you at all. Best Western Appollo Museum needs to fix it's odors or drop the price $40.00 OR admit it's a two star at best?!!

Checkout surprise

The hotel was great, the people were nice, but i had a very unpleasant surpsire when i checked out. I had paid for the hotel online, and got a good deal on price, so the hotel charged me 167 euros in "city taxes" for 2 nights. This brought me back up to full price for the hotel.

Beware - liars

We have ordered it through Internet and paid as well. Stay was not too bad, but after checkout, when I paid all extra charges (like buffet etc, which was fine), I found out they charged me again for staying - full price for 2 rooms. I have contacted hotel a few times, every time the stuff promised to fix this error. After 2 months of waiting I had to fight these double payments through my credit card company, which was frustrating

GOOD HOTEL TO CHOOSE BUT LACKS QUALITY OF A BEST WESTERN

The hotel has a great location, the slow internet and from 7pm when all are connected the signal comes and goes, breakfast is the worst thing that has paid 13 euros for eating eggs, bread, ham, cereal and drinks, I can compare because I stay in hotels over 200 nights per year.

Apollo Museumhotel Amsterdam City Centre

The hotel was in a great location; however when we made the reservations they failed to tell us that they were under construction and we woke up to jack hammers in the room directly above us 2 days in a row. Their resturant has strange hours and not much to pick from. They do have a shuttle service to the air port but for a couple it is cheaper to take a cab; and they do not have an eary pick up before 6:30 am. The rooms are of good size and are pretty clean; if you get "one" bed it is two twins pushed together. The bathrooms are awkward to say the least. The bathroom door is opaque so you can see whoever is in the bathroom. I would recommed this hotel to a friend. Overall it is good value for the money. All the hotels and shopping centers are within walking distance.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you are planning on seeing the museums while you are there get the "I AMsterdam" pass; it is a pass that gets you into most of the museums for free or at a discount. It also include free public transportation for the time frame you purchase. We got one for 2 days and we easily got our moneis worth out of it.

convenient and comfy

It is a clean hotel with friendly staff and very conveniently located close to the center with tram and bike rental close by. We showed up at 7:00am and since we came before the check in time the staff gave us what they described as "not their best room" hidden at the end of hall way on the second floor with the number not matching the 2nd floor. We were thankful we got the room to get some rest so early in the morning. The room was small but decent. However the sink was the smallest ever that it was impossible to brush our teeth or wash our hands without getting our feet wet. Do I recommend this hotel? Yes, but get their regular room.

Use tram. It's close by and the best way to get around besides biking. It's an easy way to get to the hotel and from the hotel to the railway station.

Do not recommend...

At first, we got a basement... when we requested for another room, we were sent to the back part of the hotel with no elavator. Instead, there is a very steep and narrow staircase. Hence, we had to carry our 20kg baggages upstairs by ourselves. The room is extremely small. I can barely find space for luggages.
