NH Barbizon Palace Hotel Amsterdam

Great location. Right near the train station. Roomy bedrooms. Very clean.

Took the train from the airport and walked to the otel in a few minutes. I got a top level room that was great - it had exposed beams with an open celing. I doubt all the rooms are as interesting as mine. I had no problems with the elevator security, and thought the hotel was run extremely well. Everything about my stay was great, food was expensive but they had one of the best veggie burgers I have ever had.

The location is amazing, just walking distance from Centraal Station. Took the train to & from Schiphol. Within walking distance there is so much to do and see. Trams can take you all over but I prefered to walk. Service at the Terrace restaurant was always very good, very fun staff. Reception was polite but ALWAYS seemed to be very busy checking in/out guests.

Breakfast was not included in the room price and was charged with 25 Euro per day per person. Too much. Parking was not listed at pay parking in the web page and was 47 Euro per night. Very highprice

Internet access very difficult, when I connect, start the updates. What takes time 20 min. when the connection is lost after 30min.

Good location near central station and city centre. Breakfast too expensive especially compared to nearby restaurant at a third of the price. Free tea and coffee in room but only one of each and only one milk/creamer. Room size modest with a small standard double bed, not really 5*. The only 5* bit was the restaurant and at 75 Euros for dinner a bit expensive. Also asked for no smoking but corridor reeked of smoke and room had been used by a smoker, even had ashtray and matches. Nice to have a late checkout on the Sunday. Visit was to celebrate an anniversary but no opportunity for extras to be pre booked.

The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are spacious and modern. The staff was very helpful especially the concierage. the only downside was that we had asked for a king bed and ended up with two twin cots connected together.

Very convenient location - close to rail station and city centre.

This hotel was in a fantastic location you couldn't wish for any better. We did not eat here so cannot comment on the food, but the menu did look a little on the expensive side & didn't have many guests dining here. The bar was about the same price as an other pub in Amsterdam. Our room did not have a safe, so we had to go behind reception to a safety deposit room, and although this was not ideal you felt very safe & it was never a problem to the staff to let you in whilst you got what you needed. It was a nice hotel & I would deffo go back. Rooms were clean & staff were friendly :-)

The Barbizon is in a great location and the hotel itself is very nice, however the rooms although clean an roomy do seem to be rather dated. We stayed here about ten years ago and the room decor has not changed since then. Our bathroom still had a shower over the bath. I would have expected a separate shower in a 5 star hotel in 2012. We struggled to sleep as the room was so hot (26 degrees), the thermostat did not work and our window did not open. I mentioned this to the staff on reception and they said that they would have it checked. I asked if we could have a fan if it could not be fixed. It was not fixed and no fan was supplied, no other rooms were available, so we suffered another restless night. Moaning finished! The hotel is in a very good location and only a short walk to Dam Square, all the museums and galleries. Central station is straight across the road so very convenient for travelling to other destinations and places of interest. I'm not sure if I would use the Barbizon again based on this experience and considering that there is a abundance of hotels of various standards nearby. JT - Saffron Walden, UK
