NH Barbizon Palace Hotel Amsterdam

Was worth price we paid but had a deal Great location Had canal view

We got to the hotel at around 9.30am after flying into the airport and catching the train to the city centre. The hotel is directly opposite the station so very easy to find. We were given a room straight away by the helpful staff on reception with a choice of an inner room or outer one. We choose the inner one as we thought it would be quieter and indeed it was. You could here a pin drop! However the room was a reasonable size but it only had a standard double bed, (we are used to a superking) but could of easily had a bigger bed in there. The bathroom was clean and tidy and the shower worked well and you were given descent sized towels. The main bugbear was the air con or lack of it! It was set to 25 degrees but if altered the temp it just jumped back to 25. Even with it switched off the room was still really hot. So our room was extremely hot with no means of cooling the room as there was no opening window (the window looked out onto reception) not good if you prefer a cooler room! We did not eat in the hotel but there are loads of good places to eat within minutes of the hotel so don't bother booking breakfast with your stay. Overall the hotel is in an excellent location just don't expect too much from your room. The room is more what you find in a 3 star hotel. It a great city and don't be put off this hotel as long as only expect to use it for somewhere to get your head down for the night.

the website said there was a shuttle from the airport but that is not true, you have to pay for a taxi or train ride on your own. nice place - close to the action - nice toiletries in the bathroom -

I stayed in the most basic room they have and it was very clean, nice and comfortable. Even though it is basic it is not cheap I think it should be a little more affordable. The room is not 5 star but I don't need anything fancy like that since I did not spend much time in the room. Even though it was very cold in March I was outside during my whole stay in Amsterdam and I had a great time. The staff was helpful and friendly and breakfast was very good. Don't pay for taxis(they are very expensive) you can get on a train from Schipol airport to Central station and walk 5 minutes to this hotel. I can't wait to go back to Amsterdam but next time it will be in May and I will choose NH Barbizon Palace again.

It was a very clean and warm hotel i would return to this hotel

The hotel is perfectly situated opposite central station. Our party of 8 ( 4 couples aged 37-65) arrived earlier than check in but we were able to have our rooms immediately. Staff were very friendly and helpfull. Lobby was very well presented. Rooms were a good size and very clean although a bit dated. We had a non smoking internal room and didnt get any noise from the streets outside, however one couple had a room overlooking the street and could hear noise all through the night but it didnt bother them to much. Be careful with the mini bar,if you touch anything in there it notifies reception and charges it to your room on check out.

Walk from train station in two minutes to a fancy hotel with bar and restaurant and very clean rooms. I am very pleased with the comfort, the room was quiet. I would go back for sure.

Well it's right near central station. So if you wanna just drop your bags off and hang out this is a good place. But 5 stars is certainly an exaggeration.

Hotel is in a great location, only a 5 minute walk from Central Station, Room was a good size and very clean, Breakfast is very expensive at 27 euros per person, there are a lot of places nearby, where breakfast is a lot cheaper

The staff of this hotel in my opinion and dealings were excellent especially reception and room service and house keeping. Location Location Location is the main selling point for the tourist especially first-timers. Rooms were clean but need modernisation. Billed as a 5 star maybe in parts but not in general but a good 4 star. Some rooms are split level maybe a consideration for some guests. Room 450 is internal avoid. The canal rooms were great even the waterhens were a pleasure.
