Rydges Hotel Rotorua

Excellent venue, within easy reach of city shops, etc. We stayed over a weekend to attend our friends' 40th wedding anniversary celebrations at the hotel itself. Rooms were very spacious, spotless, warm, with great views of the lake from our balcony. We had read previous reviews prior to booking, and had concerns, but these were quickly dispelled, and we would most certainly stay there again. Our only negative comment would be the excessive cost of the room's minibar drinks and restaurant main meals, otherwise a very enjoyable stay.

Spa baths in room very noisy.

Overall my stay was pleasant . There were either some very noisy visitors or staff on my floor which went on until 11.30 each day and begab at 5.30. Also there was a smell of smokers in the corridor > my room No was 206 . I also had a bar of chocolate that I had purchased removed rom the fridge

Friendly staff. Big room and big private spa, it is perfect for us having 2 little kids. We will stay there again.

The lobby looks nice, as does the Atrium dining room. The whole place is in bad need of a facelift. No bellman to assist with luggage, no concierge, which most 4 stars have. The room was capacious, but the furniture and beds were dingy and banged up; there are no thermostats, so be prepared to open the windows; the refrigerator was broken, the bathroom was clean but definitely not four star, old and scarred up. Lobby restrooms had leaky toilets and, while clean, were not 4 star. Staff were helpful and friendly, food was ok. Overall, it has the dim, seedy look of a place on the way down. Good location, near downtown Rotorua and activities. Don't miss all the geothermal places.

Very friendly staff, enjoyed value for money in the restaurant. Woiulod certainly recommend it.

The only quirk would be the shower curtain over the bath...the bottom of the curtain was mouldy. thought it should have been nice and clean and white. Should of been changed. Apart from that - it was lovely.

Tired hotel in need of make-over, made worse by atrocious staff conduct. We were there for our wedding anniversary and were having a nice lie-in when at 9am there were two knocks on the door followed by the door opening. I made a hasty dash to the door to prevent the male room service employee from entering the room. "What time is checkout?" 11am. Go figure. Back to bed then 10 minutes later another knock on the door from a different cleaner trying to enter the room. Lucky I had the security latch on this time. Unbelieveable! Complained to reception who were apologetic, but no apology from management to date.
