Boutique Lisbon hotel with fun retro Hollywood theme
With posters of Alfred Hitchcock and Humphrey Bogart and classic movie quotes stenciled on the walls, the Florida Hotel, Lisbon is perfect for European travelers looking for a little Hollywood fun. Located close to Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon's main street, the hotel is steps away from the city's botanical gardens and close to the Marques de Pombal Underground Station. The Florida Hotel has a fully equipped business center, a fitness center and a peaceful winter garden. There are also four meeting rooms for up 80 people. Check out the Great American Disaster restaurant, which features classic diner fare and is full of Hollywood memorabilia. Other restaurants serving international cuisine as well as Portuguese food are within walking distance.

Great hotel, Great Location, Great Value
We stayed here twice, for a total of 3 nights, coming to and going from Lisbon. The hotel is clean, quiet, comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Our room, the "SInging in the Rain" suite, had two twin beds joined to form a king, and 2 extra roll-away bads for the kids (all very comfortable) to accomodate our family of four. The Florida is located directly on the Marquis do Pombal subway stop, so getting there from the airport is a snap. This is hands down the best value I've ever had in a European hotel. I've paid 8X more per night for a "comparable" room in London and its wasn't half as good. No free WIFI here, but I'm not complaining - great, great value and location for a stay in Lisbon. HIghly recommend the Hotel Florida.

Short walk from hotel
Walk up the hill from the Hotel Florida (away from the Pombal Statue and Subway Stop) about 300 meters to the McDonalds (just off the street on the right) for free WIFI. No need to eat the food there; just get an expresso for less than 1 euro (pretty decent) and check your email / surf the web - avoiding the very pricey WIFI at the Florida business center.

never a 4 star hotel!
This place was maybe at its foundation a 4 star hotel, which today can be no question! The staff was rude, a remarkable exception was the breakfast crew. The mini bar in the room was completely empty, it was a note in the fridge you should contact any requests to the reception. We had a small emergency at night, neither aspirin nor a patch was available at the reception - and this in a 4 star hotel? The bar consisted of a desk with 4 plastic chairs, if you ordered a cappuccino, you got a lukewarm milky coffee - and this in a 4 star hotel? We can recommend this hotel under any circumstances.

One more solo traveler

This hotel is the most convenient place to stay while visiting Lisbon as a tourist. The elevator entrance to the Metro station is a three-minute walk away. Using Metro for traveling between the airport and the hotel is more convenient than the Airport Shuttle bus. Rooms are nicely furnished, very clean, with marble floor bath. The room size is enough for a solo traveler. The hotel charges everything including wifi (10 Euro for 48 hours)

Hotel Florida
The hotel was nondescript when arriving butting turned out to be a very nice place. The staff was helpful and not intrusive. There is a nice place on the same block to get food and a market 3 blocks away to save money. Overall - nice clean place.

Staff very friendly, tea, coffee facility not there, have to ask for facily and then supplied but had to ask everyday for tea, coffee, milk and sugar (no milk sachets).

Good for a short break
Found the rooms to be very clean and pleasantly decorated, but the tea and coffee facility was limited and we were unable to have any more when we asked. The staff were very friendly and efficient.

Fantastic girls weekend
The hotel was just perfect. I loved everything about it. The beds were so confy. The decor was beautiful and the staff so nice and helpful. The location is also really good. Abrigado Hotel Florida :)

Hotel Florida, Lisbon, on a Sunday
The room I received was the smallest on the floor but more annoying was that it looked over a fetid air shaft and the air conditioning was turned off when I arrived. It took awhile for a staff member to come to the room to explain how to activate the a/c (I was unfamiliar with the remote controlling it.) Then I was advised of a nearby restaurant which was very pricey and had a basket of obviously stale bread on the table to begin with. I was glad my stay was for one night only.
