Great value, great staff

We had an overnight layover in Lisbon. The location and price were fantastic. We had a 2 double bed room. The room was a larger corner room. The bathroom was small. Overall, it was good for an overnight. Not sure if I would recommend for long stay with a family of 4. It would be just fine for a quality budget hotel for 2 adults who want to sightsee for a few days. The restaurant food was good quality. The service in the restaurant and hotel was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I would stay there again.

Lovin' Lisbon!

We decided to play it safe, and opted for a hotel we were familiar with that includes a pool. Holiday Inn was all we expected it to be and more - with the warm and helpful nature of the Portuguese staff. It was a bit out of the center, but 3mins away from the metro, so we didn't miss a beat!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

We discovered this perfect little place - "De Castro Elias" - just 7 mins away from the hotel. The food was local & awesome in a very modern space, and the owner made sure we knew what we were eating and drinking :-) a real find!

Good value for money

We recently stayed in the hotel for 5 nights. We specifically asked for non-smoking deluxe room. Initially we were given smoking smoking room but when we complained we were upgraded to an executive room. The room was very clean and cleaned daily. The staff were friendly and the hotel was easy to reach from the airport. Two metro stations are 10-15 mins walking distance. There are plenty of restaurants around. It is slightly away from centre but easy to reach the centre via bus or metro.

Four nights with kids

Not much to look at from the outside, but much better inside. Although not central, it's a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest metro station (Alameda) and then 5 stops to the centre of town. The metro runs until 1am. It's also only a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport (less than 10 Euros). Staff were very helpful and accomodating. Good value buffet breakfast if you are a family as kids eat free. Fabulous rooftop terrace with pool!

Dining tip: Not Applicable

Avoid the restaurants that thrust menus at you as you pass. They tend to serve overpriced, average food. For great food that's better value, look for the more discrete little places favoured by the locals.

Not really happy

I was told I could add garage parking of 14 euros to my bill when I checked in. The next morning at check out I was informed I could NOT. Not having any euros, as we were leaving country in a few hours, I asked if they could exchange US dollars to euros, and they could NOT and sent me to a ATM across the street. This ATM was NOT IN SERVICE, eventually after a heated discussion at the front desk, they charged my credit card the 14 euros and I was able to get my rental car and get to the airport, now 45 minutes later than planned. When using the shower, the drain under the adjacent sink backed up flowing water all over the bathroom floor, had to stop shower before hair rinsed. Hair dryer had NO heat and minimal blowing power. No free internet, 5 euros per hour was the charge. Just not United States Holiday Inn standards.

Excellent place to be

Located 10-15 inutes from the airport, our stay this hotel was an excellent experience. The staff was friendly and taxi cab drivers were super nice. Having visited many european coutries, I would say that this hotel will give you an american hotel experience (great stuff and plenty of space in rooms) with Portugese friendliness and sense of humor. The hotel is nicely located in the heart of Lisob so you can visit many historic and religious monuments that shaped the history of Portugal and its colonies. People are always smiling...

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

We met an English speaking taxi driver who took us from the airport to our hotel, waited until we checked in, took us on a 2 hour tour of the city. He charged 30 euro an hour and told us things about the history of the monuments visited.

Good overall experience

Good service and a very nice, comfy room. Prices for breakfast (13.50€ per person) are too expensive. The hotel is located in walking distance from the next Metro station (Saldanha). Would recommend the hotel.

There is a nice cafe in the shopping center across the street. You can buy a coffee for 0,50€ and they offer tasty pastries for breakfast.
