Lovely hotel, superb location, expensive

My visit to Moscow was part of a group tour arrenged through my Alma Mater. I booked a pre-tour one-day stay at the Marriot. My day xonsisted of walking around the Red Square, Pushkin Museum, the subway... About the hotel... - Great location!! - Great staff, especially the concierges... - The hotel gym is small yet well equipped and it is open and staffed 24/7. The swimming pool is lovely. - Charges too much $$ for Internet in the room. At the room rate, Wi-Fi access should be free.

Good Location

Its an incredible hotel, great location, Beautifull and big rooms with large luxurious bathrooms, nice service. What I was disapointed about where the overpriced items in the mini bar (10 dlls for a Coke), The overpriced food in the restaurants, a sandwich for 30 dlls, and the expensive internet service in the room and in the hotel in general, to mention a few!

No-personality business hotel

Easy to get to central Moscow locations and very welcoming staff. If you are going for business, this would be fine. If you are looking for a hotel with character, this hotel does not have it. It is one to sleep in and leave straightaway. Proud of their sheets which is justified but need to add the same quality to their towels. The 'bar' in the lobby is a cafe and not a particularly attractive one at that. Would not be a good place to even hold quick business meetings. Expensive to eat/drink in without any accompanying atmosphere which would justify the additional price. In the morning, the butler service providing a 'free' cup of tea with an alarm call is a nice idea but it would be good to give the alarm call first so you are awake to receive the tea and to include sufficient water to make more than half a small cup! In summary a functional hotel but missing that certain charm.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Do not eat in the hotel. So more of a short-medium walk but no option for that above. Cafe Pushkin downstairs has a comprehensive menu and fantastic decor. Also although not a dining option - go to the Museum of Modern History which has info in English and is fascinating.
