Unlikely Spring Break

We were looking for an all inclusive in St. Lucia for a spring break trip with college friends. We were the only "spring breakers" there. We really enjoyed the island, especially sailing activities organized by hotel staff for our group. The staff was especially friendly and helpful. Unlimited drinks, the hotel "club" and quieter "adults only" pool were other highlights. Unfortunately I would review the cleanliness and food as only mediocre. Also I must note that though the hotel is conveniently close to St. Lucia's UVF airport, it is far from the activities on the north end of the island (Rodney Beach). Do not come looking for activities/bars/restaurants within close proximity to this hotel.

All in all a good deal

The hotel grew on me. Our last vacation was at the Azul Sensatori, where we lucked up for our wedding and had a butler, 24 hour room service, and premium liquor at all bars. Coconut Bay came nowhere close to that, but for the money we spent it was a great deal. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the food was pretty good and there were plenty of places to lay in the sun by the pool. I would probably stay in the more populated Rodney Bay if I return to St. Lucia, but would recommend Coconut Bay for anyone looking for a budget minded, all-inclusive on the island.

coconut bay

hotel was definitely kid friendly, the quality of the rooms were a bit lacking and the food lacked variety. while some of the staff were very friendly, some were not and some of the dining staff clearly lacked customer service. The food in the main dining area was just plain average, but the outside grill was great and the chef would always whip something up for us. the rooms were not the best and definitely need some refurb.

Great Honeymoon

I had a great honeymoon at the Coconut Bay and Resort. My husband and I really enjoyed it. When we were outside we stayed on the Adults side the most, however we did go to the lazy river a few times which was nice. We never had any problems with any of the kids there. You really didn't notice them at all. Everyone was nice and friendly. Our bartenders always took good care of us. Especially Loan and Coco. Maclee was always helpful too. The food was good. Make sure that you make reservations a day ahead for Silks and Bellagio. We ate at Bellagio 3 nights and at Silks 1 night because we liked Bellagio better. My husband and I would have like to have seen more native food at the resort. We also would have liked room service, but this is not available. At night the resort is bombed for bugs. You can't miss it. There is a truck that sprays a white fog everywhere. Make sure to bring bug spray with you because the mosquitos are really bad! Over all we had a great time! Very relaxing! My husband did lose his wedding band, but this was not the hotels fault. He lost it while snorkeling!

Coconut Bay 8/7/10- 8/14/10

We stayed at Coconut Bay from 8-7-10 thru 8-14-10 and were somewhat disappointed. The rooms were small and very outdated. The Beach Bites Grill and swim up bar were closed for a few days for re-modeling. The staff was mostly accomodating to any requests or questions that we had. As we had read in reviews about the hotel, the beach had alot of seaweed which they worked on removing throughout the day. Be aware that is gets dark early on the island of St. Lucia by 6:15PM and the resort starts fogging for mosquitos. The food was ok, but after a week the buffet was getting boring. Definately try Bellagio and Silk. We never had a problem getting reservations. For guests traveling from the US- remember to bring an outlet converter. Cell phone reception was non-existant. We made 2 calls from the hotel using our credit card and were pleasantly surprised to see that we were charged $20.00 a minute!!! Definately try to do some excursions. The zip line was great and so was whale watching. Definately explore Souffre and Castries. The ocean on the Caribbean side of the island is much clearer and much more beautiful. We have been most recently to resorts in Hawaii and were disappointed by the level of the Coconut Bay. Overall we had a good trip but 7 days was definately to long, 3-4 days would have been much better. We are not big drinkers so all inclusive for us was not the right choice. If you enjoy sitting pool side drinking this is the right option. Recommend for families, not couples looking to get away. The water slides and lazy river are great for kids and adults.

Definately use the resort credit that Coconut Bay gives each guest. My husband and I received a credit of $350.00 and it covered 2 excursions.

Short vacation

The presentation of this hotel is very nice..however on the Splash side there was a constant odor from a sewer somewhere. We also got bitten from sand fleas the entire time during our stay. The staff was very unfriendly and the food was below average. The view was very nice from the pool and beach area and overall the hotel is decent but needs work on the food and customer service.

Honeymoon Vacation

We enjoyed our trip to St. Lucia, it is a beautiful island - but we flew in to the wrong airport. Please make sure you fly to Hewanorra International Airport. There is a free shuttle that takes you 5 minutes down the road to the resort. The rooms were ok, we were expecting something nicer like the pictures, but you have to get upgraded to this rooms. (Highly suggest 4th floor rooms with ocean view). Garden view on floor level is not that great. The water on the south side of the island (the Atlantic) is choppy, not those picturesk views of the Caribbean water like you see in the pictures. That calm, clear water is on the northern side of the island. We did a few excursions too - they are anywhere from $60US per person - $150 US per person, so just a heads up. Staff was friendly, though a touch annoyed at times. Always pretty helpful though (especially liked the recreation guys, they were really nice and tons of stuff to do for families and kids everyday.) This is a good resort if you are on a budget and have a family (and don't have the money to spend at Sandals). If you do have the extra money to spend and are just a couple on vacation, I would suggest going to Sandals instead.

The all-inclusive food was good, but really different from the US food we were used to. You have to dress up for the nice Italian and Asian restaurants, guys be sure to bring kacki pants. Liked always having access to drinks and food, made the trip nice and stress free. Also - You have to make a reservation in advance for those nice restaurants, 24 hours in advance is good. Also - we stayed at this hotel for 7 days, a few days too long. I would highly suggest a max of 3 days here and then try another island or another hotel on the north side of the island.

We stayed at almond morgan bay because of the hurricane coconut bay was closed. We were told this was a up grade, but i am not sure because we did not see c/b resort but looking at the pictures on line I question weather it was or not. Seemed much smaller than cb The staff at almond morgan bay was great.. Lots of fun and very personable. The food was pretty much the same at all the resturants not much of a variety. Long ride from airport. We where advised not to leave resort so can't really comment on the island itself took catamaran ride for the day was great really worth the money
