Died and gone to Heaven
From arrival to departure, this exquisite hotel has it all: staff with panache, rooms with all the amenities, stairways to heaven if you can figure out how not to get lost, piano bar and drinks, and location, location, location. Unquestionably, the best hotel I have ever stayed in. I do not book 5-star hotels, but I consider this to be one.

The Worst!
One of the worst hotel experiences ever. After trudging through tunnels and at least three different elevators, behind a dour porter, we're shown to a room with construction noise outside. Now stuck in this maze, only way to find reception is walk througn the streets. For +80 Euros a night we could move closer to reception. We thought $230 a night was already steep for this dump and declined -- about what we paid for wonderful hotels in Madrid, Cordoba, Granada. We did get another room -- two houses closer -- but still went to reception and breakfast via the streets. What if there were a fire? Breakfast rooms below stairs and dingy. Noxious odor in room WC, though apparently from outside. Safe, with passport, tickets and laptop, malfunctioned -- fortunately it was the afternoon before we were leaving. Nothing in the room to indicate how to phone reception. We had to go down and ask for it to be fixed, twice. Two hours later (!), the handyman got it open. All around terrible experience.

Room was very small, but large
Room was very small, but large bathroom with nice shower. Closet was unacceptable, it was so short, could not hang pants straight. There were mosquitos, so it was difficult sleeping and received several bites!

Very nice hotel although a little
Very nice hotel although a little difficult to find actual room given teh configuration. One consern was safety -- the entry to our room was thought a small back alley and the entrance to our goup of rooms was not locked. Although there was an attendant in the section, the entry did not appear to be visable from where he sat. We encountered no problems, but we did see this as a potential problem especially given reports of petty crime in Sevilla

This is an unusual hotel spread
This is an unusual hotel spread across several streets. There are different areas connected by a tunnel with interconnecting passageways and stairways. The Hotel rooms are fuctional if a little dated. The one I stayed in had seen better days in parts. The hotel Piano bar is a little souless and reflects more the atmophere of a library than a bar. Still its in a great location in the Santa Cruz district and worth a look.

Experience the charm of Spain at a price
We stayed in two other hotels during our visit to Spain. Las Casa de Juderia was the largest and most impersonal. It was also the least modern, though it did have character. The facilities were charming with the walkways strewn with pots of geraniums and Roman artifacts. The courtyards were welcoming and the piano bar was relaxing. We had one teen sharing a room with us. Although the room was not large, the bathroom area was spacious and great for a family sharing a room. Finally, the location was very central to cafes and close to everything. It was the most expensive place we stayed and not sure it was worth the money, however.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
For great seafood go to the Cafe Juderia right around the block from the hotel. It was the best traditional meal we had in Spain. We knew of it as our son's host family suggested it and dined with us. For inexpensive, yet delicious tapas, go to the Alfalfa plaza and go north to Taverna Coloniales.(easy walking distance) Great outdoor dining. Very small. One puts their name on a chalkboard for a table. Two of us ate there for dinner and including a bottle of wine we spent $18 Euros! One of the best dining deals we had as most places were expensive.

Hotel in Sevilla
This hotel is beautiful. Our room was huge and beautifully decorated. Bathroom had a double sink and both tub and shower. (Shower floods!) There was a separate sitting area with couch and chairs. The breakfast is incredible. Located in the old Jewish district and walking to major sites.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Do not miss walking in the Juderia. It is a bit difficult to navigate the narrow streets and make sure to take a good map. The Michelin Analucia guide is very useful in this city.
