Gloria Prince Hotel Taipei

i returned to Taipei to see friends, relax, and enjoy the city. I originally chose the Gloria Prince because it was near transit and it had a gym. There was a promotion for rate discounts if I booked for 4 nights. I decided to give it a try. The hotel was very easy to find. I traveled from the airport on a shuttle bus that let me off at the Shuanglian metro station and then took a short taxi ride. It cost approximately 240 TD. A taxi at the airport quoted 1000 TD for the same trip. The doormen and the front desk were great. I felt very welcomed. I was happy to reach my room and on my way, I noticed the gym. The gym is very good at the hotel. There are cardio machines and weight training machines and free weights. It is very clean and comfortable. I was very happy to be able to relax and work out within this environment. My room was comfortable but I believe a little small. I requested a change but the hotel was booked for the Dragon Festival. The staff offered to change my room after two days but I decided to remain. I rebooked for another four nights and my room was changed. Mostly, I need a bigger bed. The two rooms are very clean and well maintained. There is good air conditioning and the air seems dust free. Beds and pillows good. Television adequate. Nice original art in rooms and hallways. Nice carpets. Good furniture. Nice lighting. Shower pressure was great. Comfortable bathrooms. Maid service was daily and a newspaper was delivered everyday. Internet was very fast. Yes, I like it here. I have stayed in several hotels over the last six years for work and this rates as one of the best for my needs: clean, good gym, reasonably priced, and friendly professional service. Problems I experienced: 1. My room key did not work everyday. I had to replace it everyday. On the third day, the hotel personal finally decided to accompany me to my room to confirm that my key didn't work. The staff informed me that there was a problem with my door computer. It was supposedly fixed; however, my key continued not to work. I gave up on the last day and didn't bother getting the key reset again. 2. My BIGGEST problem was the bed being INCREDIBLY uncomfortable. If you like to sleep on a bed that is ROCK hard then this is the place for you. There is absolutely no padding. I was only able to fall asleep after complete exhaustion. After four nights, I moved to another hotel. I couldn't take it anymore. Advantages: 1. It is relatively close to a subway station and overall in a convenient portion of the city.

Good value and convenient location. Very fast (and free) internet access.

Hôtel tranquille, en centre ville, bien équipé avec personnel attentionné. Bon restaurant. Clientèle principalement japonaise. J'y retournerai avec plaisir.
