Avicenna Hotel

Good clean hotel in a v good location but not a four star. Rooms are tiny and cramped. Service is average. Decent breakfast if you like Turkish breakfast. Only one iron in the whole hotel! Staff didnt know which room had it when we asked for it. Walls are too thin and you can hear things from other adjoining rooms.

Had a really nice 7 night stay at Avicenna Hotel in April. The location of the hotel is excellent - only 5 mins walk from the Blue Mosque and 10 mins to most of the other main attractions and bazars. The rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. We were originally given a room on the bottom floor of the annex that was a little dark. Reception staff were really helpful and were able to offer us another room and moved our bags over. The breakfast offers a great variety of food to suit all tastes and the dining room was a nice relaxed place to start the day. Without exception the staff were very helpful and friendly. Many thanks to Avicenna for a lovely stay - we would definitely recommend this hotel.

The location of this hotel was perfect. We had a lovely view of The Blue Mosque from our window. Hagia Sophia, Topkapi palace and Grand Bazaar all in walking distance. Many cafes and places to eat just seconds away and the sea couple minutes walk away. It was lovely and warm in the hotel which was good as we went in December and it was snowing. Room decor was good. The only let down was the breakfast, not my cup of tea. We ordered omlet but you had to pay extra for it. There wasnt much variety. Overall we had a good stay at the hotel and i would recommend it.

Great location. Walking distance to main attractions - Trams - Ferry - Restaurants - Shopping. Very friendly and helpful staff. Prompt action on our room request by email. Even got our Bus tickets done in a jiffy. Excellent breakfast on the roof-top bar/restaurant with great view. Hope to return soon to this little gem, behind Blue Mosque. Much appreciated.

The personal at the hotel are very friendly and helpful, the room was clean all the time. Do not expect a big room but the room is in very good conditions. The hotel is five minutes walking distance to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia.

We were warmly greeted, and for a nominal sum upgraded to a large room with balcony overlooking the Bosphorus. The room was clean and service attentive. Only one complaint, and it upset my wife enormously! having traveled to over 100 counties and stayed in 1000's of hotels over the past 40 years, this is the first occasion ever that where tea making facilities are provided in the room, have we been charged per tea bag used (4TL). There was no evident indication that there was a charge.

Lovely little hotel in the old city just a block from several open-air restaurants and three blocks from the Blue Mosque. Great place to explore.

The Avicenna Hotel in Istanbul is only 7 minutes (walking) from the tram station Sultanahmet and with that 7 minutes from the Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. Furhtermore it is a only 2 minutes (walking) from Akbiyik Road where you find lots of restaurants. The Hotel itself is a nice place, very friendly and helpful personnel, a good breakfast, a laptop for free Internet access and a nice roof terrace (closes at 11PM). Towards the seaside there is a train track so some of the rooms are a little loud in the morning but our friend who travelled with us could easily change the room after the first night. The building would need some maintenance. we paid 80USD for a double which is a good deal for Istanbul considering location and the good overall experience.

My review is based in due respect to the very low price I paid per night, I think one always has to take that in consideration. My room was extremely small and the heating was barely working. As it was quite cold in Istanbul, I did ask to make the heating work and they did. The room was very clean however and I felt comfortable. The Staff of the Hotel is extremely friendly and professional and they do speak very well english, once help is needed. Even the breakfast buffet is fair enough, again, this aint no 5 Star place and I knew that before. So overall a very good place to stay if your expectations aren't too high. Also very close to the famous Mosques and the incredible huge Bazaar.

We had a very nice stay! However, its a personal thing whether you like the Hotel. You will like it if you: - like the style (look at the photos) - love nicely and consistently designed interior - want to have drink or meal on on the restaurant terrace with a wonderful view over the Bosporus You won't like it if you: - insist on solid craftmanship of housebuilding (if yes, are you sure you will like Istanbul?) - don't like to change rooms in case you are not 100% satisfied. Some rooms don't have WiFi coverage. There are quiet and not so quiet rooms.
