Gulhane Park Hotel Istanbul

The room we received was not the one we had requested. We had reserved a quadruple room for four people and the room we received was a "Superior Double" room with only one standard bed in a tiny room. So, two of us had to get a room in a separate hotel in town. The width of the room had space for the bed and one night table on each side, but nothing else. The mounted tv screen was no bigger than 15-in. The view from the hotel room looked into a parking lot. The bathroom was never really clean, housekeeping came every day to make up the bed, but never emptied the trash, or cleaned the sink. The bathroom had a very tight shower stall that kept clogging up and on the last night, we came back to our room with someone else's hair in the shower, which just about did it for us. Several complaints were made to the hotel staff, but all they did was apologize and said they couldn't do anything for us, as there were no other rooms available and housekeeping was never around.

The location was great and easy to find from the tram. The staff could not have been more helpful and the accomadations were much better than expected.

Top marks for value and staff. [...], the manager went out of his way to help to make our stay comfortable. The room had all necessary facilities.The two rooms we had were very clean and huge withair-condition.We were treated like special guets with the help of [...] and his staff we had wonderful time.Hotel is situated a short stroll from most of the city's attraction including Blue Mosque.I recommed this hotel (Gulan Park) to anybody who is visiting Istanbul. Excellent!!!I also must emphaise that staff and the Manager were extremely friendly and very accomodating.Breakfast we had was excellent.Everything about Gulan Park was impeccably perfectand excellent

WE FOUND THE STAFF VERY HELPFUL, ROOMS VERY DREARY AND STUFFY BUT CLEAN

The hotel location was excellent for walking to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Bazaar, waterfront. The hotel amenities were high priced. The gym was minimal and we never located the turkish bath. Our adult son was also booked for a four night stay. Due to mechanical issues on a US flight he was delayed one day. We were at the Gulhane and gave them ample notice that he would not be using the room one night. The hotel offered no compensation [...]. The staff was professional, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was good.

Great location for all the major sites. Very helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast although it didn't change much from day to day. Free Wi-Fi. Would certainly stay there again. Highly recommended.

Booked this hotel based on the reviews that I had read. Arrived from airport to be told that the first night of a four night stay had been changed to another hotel up the road. Wasn't impressed, especially when I saw where I'd be staying. Moved back the next day. Room was good and breakfast did the job. Only problem with the hotel was the air conditioner which needed a new filter. The smell of fresh bread in the morning was fine but the room smelt of frying all evening. The staff were OK but were reserved and not keen to offer advice, etc like most quality hotels that I've stayed in. Istanbul was an interesting place to visit and the weather was perfect. There's a good variety of food and drink and the elastic ice cream is a must. The constant barrage of requests from restaurant workers to dine at their establishments, carpet salesmen and spivs offering to take you to the best bars became tedious and was the only minus point.

not very good at breakfast they keep away at 10.30 all the dishes even if we have it on our hand because the time of it was over ., when we ask at the staff of the morning prices to go to the airport the man give us 40% more than the staff from the evening i would not go there for next time

The hotel Gulhane Park was in an ideal location. We were able to walk to all the main sites. The Blue Mosque 10 min, Hagia Sofia 10 mins, Turkish baths 10 mins, Basilica Cistern 10 mins, Grand Bazar 15 mins, Spice market 15 mins, Bosphorus River for cruises 5 mins.... great location. Loads of restaurants within walking distance as well. we ate at a different place every night, do walk down some of the back streets as the best restaurants are there. The hotel was not a 4 star by UK or US standards more like a 3 star. The gym was very poor and the breakfast was more like a Turkish Meze than a breakfast, the hot buffet was boiled eggs and what looked like the day befores meat cut up and fried with gherkins...not great. The entrance was very dark and small. The room was fine and clean although I wouldn't stay here again. The staff were very friendly.

Perfect location in Istanbul. Shops, restaurants, bars, museums, metro, and historical sites all within a very short walk. Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque both can be reached within 10 min walking. The staff was very kind as well, and for the price in my mind this place was a steal. Next time I come back to Istanbul, I am definitely coming to stay here again.
