Gulhane Park Hotel Istanbul

I liked modern rooms, everyday cleaning and changing the towels. Hotel has a great location with tram station nearby and within walking to the important city attractions like Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern. Last but not least I have to thank to everyone

The Hotel room very small and the bed not comfortable, the TV screen very small ( about 19 inch), no bthtub, they don not change dailly the twoels and they do not put shampoo unless you asked them to do so, the view of the room not good,the breakfast they are using the remaing items which not eaten on the previuos days (e,g the egg, cack,..etc) and these items should be dailly changed with new one the massage and fitness room not good even there was offer to give us free massage but noting done i don not beleive that this is a 4 star Hotel it is maximum 2 star hotel

On the first night when we arrived we were subjected to two hours of hard sell during our meal ( which was very poor) to purchase trips, future meals or spa sessions. We declined all and from that time onwards we were treated almost with contempt. They do not replace either tea bags ( 2 in room on first night) or toilet rolls in the room even when you ask for them. The rooms are drab and smelly and the bathrooms are cleaned very limitedly.This hotel is not a 4 star in any sense of the word and it would be lucky to get 3 stars at home. Be advised that the staff are extremely unhelpfull if you show no interest in their sales offers. NOT VALUE FOR MONEY.

My friend and I spent 10 days at this hotel during September 2012. What really makes this hotel higher in my regard than any other is the quality and attentiveness of the staff. All of the staff were helpful, polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We stayed on a B&B basis, although we did have several meals in the restaurant. Breakfast was a positive feast with every kind of sweet and savoury dish (many of which I had never heard of) in addition to the usual cereals and toast. Being a buffet, one could re-visit the various dishes as often as one wished. We had both lunch and dinner at the hotel and again the food was delicious, served with courtesy and was very reasonably priced. We spent several delightful hours sitting on the roof terrace drinking turkish tea and being treated like royalty. The location of the hotel couldn't have been better, within easy walking distance, or by using the 3tl tram, we were able to visit the Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, and the Yerebatan Cisterns all absolutely fascinating. Also easy to walk to was the Spice (Egyptian# Bazaar and the Hagia Sophia and the entrance fees are a snip at between 10 and 20 tl #£3-£7#. We took two boat trips on the Bosphorus, a daytime one which pointed out all of the beautiful sites of the city and the night time which was great fun with traditional turkish dancers and a belly dancer, both well worth the cost of around 50euros. Do try the local restaurants, the food is made of delicious fresh ingredients and light sauces, with plenty of vegetarian options for those who don't enjoy tender lamb or moist chicken and fish. Prices vary vastly, with dinner for two ranging from £20 to £60 #not including wine) and I have to say the quality is not based on price. If you're looking for a quiet holiday this is NOT the place to go. Shops and restaurants are open until the early hours and the place is buzzing all of the time. As you can probably tell, we can't wait to return to this lively, fascinating and fun city.

Clean. Great location near bazaar, blue mosque, hagia Sofia. Restaurant is ordinary but there are many choices within a block or two. This is a friendly place and a good base for seeing the sights. Tram stop right up the street, or short walk to star attractions.

Staff were very helpful and courteous .Room service was up to scratch but buffet breakfast was monotonous, hot omelette made to order would be nice

We only stayed in Istanbul It was perfect for historic attractions It's a bit expensive depending where you coming from Food was amazing People were fairly nice You can get all the tours from the hotel

I spent two nights out of 5 at this hotel. When my friend arrived on the second morning at 8.30 a.m. he was not allowed to visit my room. "Hotel Rules". I was told that it was the rule in all hotels in Turkey. I left the hotel and moved to another where this rule was not part of their welcome to me. The hotel refused to make a refund to me. Friendly enough staff, but unreasonable rules. Close enough to walk to and through the Old City. Lots of restaurants close by.

Good location, walking distance to main historical places, tramway station close to the hotel. Clean room, quite spacious - 3 beds room. Average breakfest, limited choice. We had tea pot in the room, but not tea bags refilled during the stay. Complimentary drink was one bottle of water for each person, and they tried to charge for it at the end of stay. TV set was not working due to complicated controll of two remote controllers. Person at the desk not very helpfull. Good location, but price higher than services. Do not expect 4 star hotel according west europe standard.

The hotel is situated in prime location, close to major tourists attractions and public transport. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room very comfortable and quiet. This was my first visit to Istanbul with my family and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Gulhane Park. I would recommend it to other people visiting Istanbul.
