Gulhane Park Hotel Istanbul

It is a good hotel for family. However, some staff and housecleaning service could use a bit of enhancement! For instance, they did not make our room on Friday and tried to blamed it on us for putting "DO NOT DISTURB" sign, which we did not! Friday is a holiday for their housekeeping service! Staff forgot to mention that phone calls are not free -- they just said that you can make a call from your room! Overall, it is good and a great value for the price. Location was fantastic.

I'll give a maximum of 2* to this hotel & will not recommend it to anyone. It is definitely not what they advertise on their website. I have been several times to different hotels in Istanbul & this is the only time I have beed disappointed. The story about the lack of hygiene is VERY TRUE. There are no cover sheets, they expect you to cover yourself with the same cover that other customers have used & it's full of dirty stains...I let you use your imagination....so we have always removed them & didn't cover ourselves. There were never enough towels in the room, we had to call the night shift receptionist, almost every night, to ask for more towels. I have read some complaints about this hotel & didn't take them seriously, but I regret that very much as they were so true. For me, hygiene is a very important criterium in selecting a hotel, so you decide between what kind of sheets you want to sleep. I would like to add that this is the only hotel in Istanbul that charges for O.J. at breakfast, they want 2 Euros/ glass, we found that ridiculous as it costs 1TL in the street. If you want to be disappointed, then this is the right hotel for you. I only want to think the breakfast waiters & the night shift receptionists for their nice services.

A friendly comfortable hotel in just the right place for exploring Istanbul. Staff very helpful. Lovely breakfasts on the terrace. thoroughly recommended.

Breakfast was really bad & room service food even worse!!! the food had no taste & it look as if it was seating there for days, truly disgusting I just ate... well nothing if you want to go on a diet this is the perfect place to stay! The last day, our shower was completely damage the hotel is not a 4* is maybe a 2* the location is perfect & this is about all. Staff was nice, no complains there. Overall we would not stay there nor recommend this hotel to anyone. Unless you want location.

This hotel is NOT what you see advertised on the website. It is a rundown faded smelly ruins in a dark corner. All photos on the site is taken with a wide angle lens. Rooms are very small and everything is faded. There is NO cover sheet on beds. Sheets are not fresh. You are sleeping under a blanket that was in DIRECT CONTACT with body of another HAIRY SWEATY large man who slept in nude. If you remove the blanket and look at the bed cover, you will see the soiled remains of a neanderthal in the center. Cleaning service: They will simply fold your used towel and place it back on the towel rack. No new soap, shampoo or toilet paper. For 8 days I stayed at the hotel, they used the same towel. Sheets never changed. (i know based on the blood stains) Nightmarish experience! Booked the hotel 2 months in advance, and when I got there, they did NOT have a room available. They said "we had a problem with your room" and sent me to another small hotel for the night. They offered to upgrade to a deluxe room the next day when I come back. (a vacation day was lost since I could not unpack and settle for the week long vacation). This was very exhausting, but the promise sounded good. Next morning I came back to the hotel, and was given a very small room with Blood stain on the sheets and a leaking shower. Sheets and pillow cases were not fresh. Hair from god know which body part was in middle of the bed. Horrible experience: A friend I was there to visit came by to drop off some gifts. The staff at Hotel demanded 50 Euros if my friend was going come up to my room. I told them it will take two minutes to exchange gifts. They said it is the policy for anyone that enters the hotel MUST pay "50 Euros". Then they are welcome to stay over night. I spoke to hotel manager about it and he insisted to pay 50 Euros!!! I refused to pay and sat in the lobby with open suitcases to exchange our gifts. This was the worst travel experience ever. I went to Istanbul to get engaged and this hotel ruined the entire experience for me and other guests I had staying at the hotel. I would never ever recommend going to this dirty filthy rat hole.

I stayed with my mother in a very comfortable twin room in June 2012. The breakfast served was ample, staff very friendly. The location is perfect, 15 min from the main mosques and centres.

very good position the staff is really fantastic, explaning everything about Istambul, organizing transfer, dinner and trips. the room is nice and the view is amazing , especially from the terrace. special thanks to manager mr.sonar onel

I live in Paris and very often travel traveling to Istanbul due my business. I stayed at several different hotels each time. I mostly stayed in big chain hotels untill a few days ago a friend of mine recommended Gulhanepark hotel who been there. The hotel is steeps away to famous historical places and stations of Public transportations. My room was great very clean and airly. I will come back again and no longer go anywhere else...

Breakfast was poor and the same every 6 days we were in hotel. staff was friendly. Special offer - free sauna and massage - we have been asking about that for tree days and in the end they proposed mechanical massage (bed). Great location - most of attraction are close to the hotel.

Rooms and bathrooms renewed, nice and helpful staff, good breakfast. I recommend this hotel.
